awilden
Just thought I'd ask to see what the general thoughts on interior colour schemes for vehicles? I guess specifically Blood Angels Space Marines (Blood Angels), and Chaos (Nurgle). I had two thoughts on colours to use, I did think about doing it all metallic, like the interior wasn't painted at all, and they just left bare metal, this would kinda work well more so for Chaos, since you could like rust it up and have all sorts of pigments/technical paint to make it all rusty/dirty and generally used (or rotten in the case of Nurgle). Blood Angels (and other Marines) could maybe work with bare but shiny metal? not sure what you guys think about that, the other idea was doing like a sandy colour, I saw some videos from buypainted on youtube and he did a nice sandy white interior on a drop pod, kinda reminded me of leather interior for cars, which also made the pigments really show up for all the dirt/rust and scratches from being used/walked on. I have a Vallejo Desert Tan Surface Primer that may do the job, then with a little shading/pigments and whatnot could look the part. Of course I could just paint it the same scheme as the rest of the vehicle (red for BA and green for Nurgle), that would do the job and make it simpler to prime>paint with less colours to mask off. What are peoples thoughts on a sandy tan/white interior? and what about the bare metal idea? or is it best to just go standard exterior colour scheme but interior? (or is there a real nice completely different colour scheme that works best for interiors that I don't know about?). Atia
i mostly used sandy colours for the walls, with green (or brown in the case of my Space Wolves, i guess they like boats :P) floors :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301445-painting-the-interior-of-vehicles-rhinos-etc/#findComment-3908916 Share on other sites
Dom_
I just do a nice quick sandy paint job inside. Paint everything Zandri dust, wash with agrax earthshade, then drybrush necron compound. If you want, you can pick out details like screens, buttons etc. There's no real point in going crazy with the interiors, but equally I like to have them painted on my models. Exceptions are predators and other vehicles without transport capabilities, where I just seal them shut. Yeah i was thinking the same about non-transport vehicles and sealing them shut, i mean just looking at the predator, that whole compartment should be housing the turret mechanisms and other machinery so suddenly opening the door to see the gunner is floating above thin air, and the turret is being supported by just the upper hatch would be a bit jarring lol :-P Lighter colours for the interior seem to be the go right? is that because it lightens up the interior, and since the interior is going to be the darkest place, it'd be best to have it bright and semi-visible? (rather than have it dark and either blend in with the rest, or just be hard to see). I know old warplanes and a variety of tanks and other armoured vehicles have quite a light interior colour, whether its sand, green or blue. All my aircraft I use a blue/grey interior, but that's with an Ultramarine colour scheme.
