It's always difficult fighting an army you're not familiar with, especially new ones but Necons can be a tough match if you're relying on armour to bring your big guns. It's one of the reasons I like a solid infantry contingent to a list. Every defeat is just another step to becoming a better player though ;)

I've made some progress since my last post. I have most of the colors on 30 more Guardsman (2 squads and a platoon and company command squad) and I have found the green for my vehicles. It took a couple tires, really if this last attempt had failed I think I would have had to strip the paint off the tanks. Really I probably should anyways with how much is on there, but I likely won't. Hopefully I'll have the first of those to show in a couple days.  In the meantime I have finished my vets, well finished until I decide on a basing scheme. There are a few little things I'll try to fix up at that time too probably.

I have 3 squads and 2 command squads almost ready for a wash. Only one last colour and some touch ups to do on them. Hopefully I'll get those done this weekend and get some good vehicle progress. I picked up Typhus corrosion and Strickland mud so with any luck I'll get a bunch done. The wife works this weekend so that means no games, but once the kids go to bed I should be able to get plenty of painting done.

I decided after my last game that I want 30 Conscripts with a commissar to bubble wrap my artillery, but I think I will wait to pick those up till after I finish painting everything I have right now.

Well I put in quite a bit of time on rounding off my Infantry Platoon and Company Command squad. I still need to finish the banner and do some more on my counts as Master of Ordnance, bit for now I will be moving on to the vehicles and coming back to finish those two things and drill all the barrels later.

My intention is to use the 40 Guardsman as the base of any list. I will be ordering 30 of the snap together Cadians to run as Conscripts, but not till I have finished painting everything I have.

Here there. Time to revive my Work in progress. If I should make a new thread due to the age please let me know.  Well I kind of dropped off the face of 40k for a while for a couple reasons. One, a back injury made sitting hunched over painting for hours pretty much the most painful thing ever. Second my gaming group switched focus to X wing pretty hard for quite some time. But now that my back is doing better I have taken up the brush once more and would like to share a couple of progress pictures, if for no other reason than to motivate myself to keep painting Guard rather than the hundreds of other miniatures I have laying around.  So without further chatter here is some small updates from this weekend.

First a couple tanks, I decided I did not like the camo pattern and so it was done away with. Here one has undergone some weathering while the other has not.

And here I made quite alot of progress on the Valkyrie. It still has a long way to go to be done, there are still spots that I missed. For some reason when I first coated it back in march I think I skipped priming, which I am certainly regretting now. I'm considering ordering the Foreworld Valkyrie decals as well.

Full shot:

Cockpit:

Door gunner:  Around the door is where I can defiantly tell the lack of priming has effected the painting.
