Just saw this, realised i have a Baal pred sitting around doing nothing COMMANDEERED

I know, I was randomly looking at my spare BA 40k minis when I realised I could use them for my Ultras.

Alright, I have done some work on the predator turret, including modelling a top mounted heavy bolter and painting it. I have also written up the organisation of the Legio Lysanda.

Yeah, I just think that with this being one of the few tanks still around on Armatura, and the Hyaenid being the only surviving tank from where it was stationed that it would make sense to have some gear on it. Maybe I should add a bit more?

Death of a King, Rise of a Legend

PART I

 

Battle brother Aref landed hard in the soil. The force of the blast had knocked him onto the ground, creating an impact crater the size of an unaugmented human. Nil and Kij had not been so lucky. The blast had annihilated them, turning them into charred ashes floating in the sooty air. 

He got up and raised his bolter. The ruined buildings around him loomed omniously, as if concealing some other veiled threat. He switched to thermal vision, hoping to pick up some sign of enemy activity. It wasn't war that worried him, it was the threat of battle looming like a storm, never knowing when it would hit. 

 

The thermals showed nothing.

 

He signalled to the other members of squad Tarykn to advance upon his position. They had the honour of safeguarding captain Orfeo, War regent of Armatura. It was proving difficult to say the least. World Eaters and Word Bearers beset them from all sides, intent on gaining the glory of killing the renowned warrior. Not to mention the traps set by the Word Bearers cultists. Devious explosive traps had been set up all around Thegil, packing enough punch to kill a legionary, or two, as Aref had just found out. 

 

They moved through the ruined hab block with all the speed and stealth they could muster. They were moving to the rendezvous point set by captain Orfeo, deemed the most defensible position. Elements from all 7 chapters of the Evocatus were coordinating to the point, and it was rumoured that there would be titan and seige engine support.

 

After many hours of reconnaissance and communications, the first elements of the Evocatus arrived. They were greeted by squad Tarykn and captain Orfeo, their dusty cobalt armour standing out against the grey rubble.

 

In as many minutes, as many as seven hundred Evocati were assembled at the rendezvous point. A proud force, refusing to lie down and die, but one that didn't stand a chance against the might of thousands of fresh legionaries coming in from orbit.

 

They waited patiently.

 

 

 

 

Then the World Eaters came, reckless and lost to the slaving machines in their brains. They crashed against the shield wall, recoiling at the solidarity of the Evocti's defence. 

 

But they didn't give up. Eventually the shield wall faltered

 

 

Then all hell broke loose.

Sanguinata:  I enjoy reading your fluff and the work so far, but unless I am mistaken, only 5 chapters of Ultramarines were not at Calth.  This makes me think having 7 chapters at Armatura a bit of an over reach.  Plus, it makes Orfeo a little more commendable if he did more with less.  My suggestion... since Armatura is a fortress world as well as a training world... have at most 3 chapters on site (1 chapter of evocatus, two chapter formation of neophytes being trained) plus auxilla forces.  Just a suggestion.

When the World Eaters and Word Bearers enetered Armatura, Khârn said it would be suicide down there as there were as many as 7000 Evocatus legionaries, 1 billion humans and 10, 000 neophytes. Maybe I should change it to five chapters though, fits the fluff more.

As of Know No Fear:  Ultramarine Chapters are 10,000 Astartes strong during Horus Heresy.  So that is still less than a chapter of Evocatus.

You could also get it all commission painted to boot so you dont have to wait till your 90 years old to see the whole thing done :P

Also maybe like, a whole new floor on a house filled with display cases for these.

Hell Slip, this would get it's own house. Also, this has me thinking. I wonder if it's possible to order 236 Thunderhawks at a time? or 2000 MKIII Legionaries or 67 Sicarans...
