Honoured Brother Decimus awoke. The cold greeted him, seeping into his consciousness. His sensors scanned the casket in which he was encased for so much of his time. Maintenance logs told him that his ironform had been modified, the numeral X welded onto the brutal plate. Fitting, he thought, that they would finally honour him with the numeral after which he was named. He once had a different name. What was it? Kilmor? Nodis? No, it was Hared. That was it. Tenth captain of the XIII Legiones Astartes. The original Evocatus. He was given the world Armatura to be his own by Lord Guilliman himself, in recognition of his service to the great crusade. The war world, as it would soon become known. But those glorious days were long gone, and now he was encased in his ironform for the rest of his existence.  

 

He had fallen in glorious combat against the greenskin hordes of Killcrusha da powaful, whilst in personal combat with the ork warlord himself. Lain low by the creatures brute strength, he would have perished had it not been for the intervention of the primarch himself. Lord Guilliman had avenged his captains 'death' by utterly destroying the greenskin creature, and thus breaking the backbone of the greenskin horde. Captain Hared, wounded almost unto death, had then been 'adapted' to take his place amongst the true legends of the legion. As such he was intombed into a sarcophagus, and left to eek out an existence as one of the XIIIths many ironforms. 

 

Something interrupted Decimus' thoughts. The lid of his casket was slowly lifted, and then torn from its hinges altogether. Sunlight filtered into the gloom, illuminating it for all to see, including the contemptor. Decimus' helmet systems looked up, trying to get a glimpse of his saviour. Honoured Brother Quintus looked down upon him, light reflecting off his golden plates of polished armour.

 

"Hail. Brother." Quintus said over his comms. "And. You. Brother." Decimus replied, "What. Of our. Situation?" "Grim. The World. Eaters and. Word Bearers. Have. Destroyed the. World. Captain Orfeo. Is dead. All. Surviving forces. Are now under. The command. Of Captain. Ravik Emil." "NO! It cannot. Be. I have. Worked to. Hard for. This to. Happen." Decimus roared, "Get me. Out. Of. Here. I have. Some World. Eaters. To. Kill!"

I have about 200 aus atm, with the potential of doubling if i have to got to an operation I'm dreading (Reward myself lol). My FW basket is sitting at 15 tacticals, 10 breachers and a contemptor, which, coincidentally, would lead to me having 1800 points *nudge nudge wink wink* and enough for a game.

We had the World Eaters on the ropes. The bastards were dying, cut down by the relentless waves of bolter fire, and being crushed upon the shield wall. Then something snapped. They lost all control. The shield wall faltered. Captain Orfeo went down, dragged away by Angron himself. His tortured screams still resonated throughout Flavius' head. The screams chased us as we retreated, the remainder of the Invictii, and the scattered remains of other squads who banded together under me. Around 50 legionaries survived the unbridled slaughter, as we fought our way out of the enemy controlled area. We saw it all that day, the horror of two legions turning against the light of the emperor, all reason thrown out the window. The Word Bearers were furthest along the path of damnation, so much so that Flavius didn't even know what they represented anymore. They had turned into grisly fusions of flesh and metal, merged into their armour, and with weird protrusions sprouting from their armour. I could have swore I saw ghostly faces flash in the red of the traitors armour as we cut them down.

 

We eventually reached the remainder of the legion's forces, to accept command under Ravik Emil, one I accepted without flinching. I knew of this man's reputation. I had plans to ascend into his company one day. But that was dashed with the destruction of the Evocatus forces. We were forever vanquished. We didn't know whether we would survive Armatura, but we were determined to make the traitors pay.

Ha. I am trying to write up fluff for all my units, and give them character and backstory that I can paint and model.

Update:

 

Not much, but some progress. I played my first game, very proxy heavy. The predator performed well, considering I forgot about it most of the game. It killed 3 palatine blades with 9 HB shots. There was a questoris knights list, polux breachers list, sigismund templars, my Ultras and a mechanicum/ emperors children army. It was me and the knights vs the ultras. We lost horribly.

 

Also, a friend donated me a captain, who is painted in Ultras colours and looks heresy-ish.

That captain has enough bling to be Ultramarine worthy; also the armor being so-decorated helps it blend in easier since it wont be standing out as "THATS NOT Mk II-VI!"

I was facing both at once... but half the breachers were crunched by a battle cannon turn 1. And Sigismunds ride was blown up turn 1. I hate the bloody arti armour on templars...

Also, I was having a look at the guys kneepads and it turns out they are MKIV. Pretty neat. Also what should I run him as? I was thinking master of signals or a chaplain.

This is the base model, right? If so, Master of Signal and Chaplain do make the most sense; leaning more for MoS personally.

yeah, that's the model. Which would work better? I was thinking MoS for the barrage and +1 BS to models. Pretty good for an army that will be sitting back for the most part.

Not much, but I've done some math and it turns out I have enough for my my FW order if I do it with my local group.

After being rescued from the surface of Armatura, Captain Emil reorganised his surviving warriors into a new body, Previously unseen throughout the Ultramarines legion, the organisation was radically different compared to the traditional composition of a chapter. Composing of barely 250 legionaries, those plucked straight from the surface of Armatura. They were organised into two talons, the praesidium and the ictus. They also maintained armoured support, designated the ferrum lancea. Emil also had the contemptor talon 'Iron Raiders' placed under his command, the three ironforms it was composed of having fought with him on Armatura, and proved invaluable in doing so. This new company was called the Eternals, and it marked the evolution of a new series of companies, designated omnium. The omnium organisation was used during the second founding for around 10 chapters, specifically for those who were sent into the further reaches of the imperium.
