+Grimdark Prince Adam+
Thanks! It will be even better visible when I do proper pictures when I finish the whole model. In the background you may find my reference model, a very nicely painted and weathered Stormgrrrr ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303281-space-wolfes-by-adam-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3972052 Share on other sites

+Grimdark Prince Adam+
Thanks deathspectersgt7! (where do you people come up with these nicks? ) Meanwhile, I finished painting the right side of the Stormgrrr, now I have a good feel how to paint the whole boat. http://i.imgur.com/h7BntMM.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/rpyVlIq.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303281-space-wolfes-by-adam-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3974529 Share on other sites
Argyle
Looking good. Your weathering is spot on. Its enough to make me seriously consider changing my color scheme to a lighter shade. I only have two models painted so far... Njal and a contemptor. Used eshin grey and its quite dark over a black base coat. I am not sure my skill set is good enough to pull off what you have done but such a dark shade makes it even tougher. Now to decide if I want to end up repainting them lol.... damn your painting ability. Brother Desultor
Excellent weathering. What did you use for reference, or was it just a case of seeing how it developed as you went along? I can't wait to see the completed model, and as others have said, your work is inspirational. Now to decide if I want to end up repainting them lol.... damn your painting ability. Â Thanks Argyle! I thought quite a bit what to reply to you, and here is what I came up with: if you like something you are doing, do it! Don't change it, do it! Please remember it took me several SW minaitures to even start doing weathering, and I also repainted my first Grey Hunter several times to get what i wanted. However, if you are convinced you are doing something wrong - cut on the losses and change it immediately. I am sure you saw a bazilion SW minis on the internet painted in the lighter tone and still you chose the eshin grey tone. I am not convinced that is to be changed just because you saw mine or anyone else's painting. I am sure you can also find a great way to do all kind of cool stuff with your current style, but learning takes time ;) So give it just that and continue what you like. Â Excellent weathering. What did you use for reference, or was it just a case of seeing how it developed as you went along? I can't wait to see the completed model, and as others have said, your work is inspirational. Â Thanks Brother! I used this as reference: http://bloodybeast.com/2014/09/space-wolves-stormwolf/ The developing stage was way back on the rhino you can find in my plog, when i was discovering weathering. Here I decided beforehand what style of weathering I want and the StormGrrr in the link above suited my needs the best as reference. And thanks for the motivating words :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303281-space-wolfes-by-adam-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3974924 Share on other sites

+Grimdark Prince Adam+
Hey! And thanks Brother, I'm always trying my best I'm working on the hull currently, but with such a big model, I needed a little change, so I started working on the 3rd Lone Wolf. Here is the WIP pic, with a comparison of the other 2, which I use as reference: http://i.imgur.com/reGM61j.jpg?1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/303281-space-wolfes-by-adam-wip-thread/page/2/#findComment-3982841 Share on other sites
+Grimdark Prince Adam+
Hey guys, I'm just putting a very nice and easy tutorial I found, so that I don't lose it, I think some of you might also need it http://i.imgur.com/uG5nwHN.jpg?1 Of course, this is not my tutorial, just something I found on my FB, all props go to an unknown by me painter. +Grimdark Prince Adam+
Hey Guys, Â I haven't had much time lately for the hobby, but I'm slowly working on a few minis. And here's a question - inspired a bit with the use of Baharoth Blue in the new Adeptus Mechanicus GW armies, I used it for the plasma weapon in the following way: Â http://i.imgur.com/ndTrCsI.jpg?1http://i.imgur.com/DyYaUuV.jpg?1 Â What do you guys think? As some might remember, the crouching skyclaw was already finished, but I repainted his plasma gun as well. GrandMagnus
Man Ive completely missed this thread. Im usually not called by space wolves but those terminators are just amazing. LutherMax
I used that effect on the plasma pistol of my Mephiston - kind of reverse of the 'traditional' way. I like it, I think it makes more sense like that and looks like the heat is emanating from inside. You've done a great job of it! Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Great pose on the kneeling Skyclaw!! Love it!! Â And the plasma effect certainly looks good!! Care to share the process you used?? +Grimdark Prince Adam+
Thanks! Â The recipe is quite easy to do: paint the plasma coil with Baharoth Blue, then wash it with a very diluted (with lahmian medium) white, then drybrush it with Baharoth Blue. If necessary, a little of the diluted white again here and there. And that's it! +Grimdark Prince Adam+
Ok, I got back again to painting Space Wolves after a few beasties, and here is a WIP of a Blood Claw (doing 2 at the same time), done the shading of the legs so far and am thinking if it's "sharp" enough. Charlo
That shading is wonderful. It looks real. Imo, ceramite isn't particularly shiny so the muted shine you have works well.
