Ultramarines Legion transfer sheet

I might have do the little review on that last item. It is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive works of its kind I have seen.

Oh my to-do list is mighty indeed... biggrin.png

I just gave Tempest a going-over. Without a doubt, FW has not only continued the saga but improved upon it. Book V is very dense - a must-own for any fan of the story. It is indeed "the day in the limelight" for the Ultramarines but that is not all. The Word Bearers are massively expanded upon and transformed (in lore and rules) into the first of the Chaos Space Marines that we know and love in 40K.

Book V reads like a companion to Know No Fear - all the key moments presented in the novel are accounted for and their contribution to the greater battle noted. Even the battle that Lorgar and Angron fought against dark eldar raiders in one of the short stories is mentioned and recounted faithfully. The battles are written like gripping thrillers (event- and not character-driven, in contrast to the novels) as opposed to historical accounts.

The Shadow Crusade is likely the subject of the next book, given the massive number of references to it.

Well played, FW, well played.

EDIT: After looking at the transfer sheet, I can tell you right now that it is of a new standard - it blows the FW World Eaters one out of the water in turns of variety and details.

The transfer sheet is awesome, much bigger than I thought when I opened mine too! And they definitely are improving with each book; even just the colour plates of the different marines, they were good in the first book but they're getting better each time in my eyes, more variety, more legion specific detailing etc.

I was not wrong about the transfers. Tried some of them out and they look fantastic. I went over the greaves with some weathering powder to simulate the dust accumulated there. These are my test models - chances they will never be a part of my UM army, but I learned a lot painting them. The next challenge - get the blue right on my next model.

I have returned, brothers and sisters...

First order of business, my "test minis" have a much more important task now - guarding my ever-growing collection of mighty tomes... :P

I ordered a bunch of new paints, grab some spare parts out of my bits box, sat down for an afternoon, and this is the result... Eureka... I think I have finally gotten the blue and gold right. :D
