Yay he's back! :D

Looks great as always UR!

Is that a count as Harker?

Yeh I missed AoP this year... I really need to work on my board well.enough in advance for next yrs. That's always what lets me down.

I need to step up my blending game...

Do you use just standard GW brushes and water? Or do you use medium with the paint too?

Afternoon

Yep, back in the trenches for a bit so you should see a lot more from me over the next month

Im blending with normal GW paint and brushes but using a wet pallet and sometimes medium to keep the paint wet.

One trick I use if its a big area like a pad is to put the paint on with brush A, then feather it into a blend with brush B which has no paint on it but is slightly damp.

If you then hit it all with a wash of ink/medium it smooths it all out completely

This is really hard hitting stuff right here.  Outstanding and extremely inspirational.  I love the way your paint up your heads.  Can I ask about your weathering?  Do you use oil paints to do your streaking?  Do you need to protect the undercoat with some kind of sealant first?

Thanks Guys

Theres a link to a tutorial somewhere at the start of the Valk arc of the thread but basically its paint it, seal it with purity seal, then use ink to wash it. The ink can be moved around or rubbed off as its on a layer of varnish.

Then seal again and highlight as required.

I used the same technique on the taurox  below and a couple of tanks. I dont use it on miniatures though.

Just be careful when using seal after the wash. I used it on the mini below after adding alcohol and pigment to the tyres and I got a slight white frost on them.

Hi duz. The seal is standard gw purity seal

Tyr13 the kit is the zinge industries kit. The windows come with that kit. I think thwy should be painted as glass (they have wipers on them) but i think they look better as hatches

Ultra Rich, wonderful paint job and some very dynamic poses! Is the pointing trooper wearing Anvil Industries pouches? If so, I shall have to purchase some for my Tallarns.

Those pouches look very nifty.

Hi

Yes I got some of their backpacks and pouches. Thats the first one Ive covered in pouches as i think if you stick them on the pads and boots (Ive seen that elsewhere) they look a bit big. I'll paint it up next week and see how it looks with the IG armour

Thanks!  For what its worth, the trooper with a lot of pouches looks good to me. He reminds me of the 40mm grenade load bearing vest our squad's M203 launcher wore (10th Mountain Division Light). Also, our long range recon troopers in our division-who occupied the barracks floor beneath me-always wore load bearing vests gear that look a lot like that worn by your trooper. We usually carried a dozen or so 5.56 magazines each but the LRRPs had to carry a lot more mags since they were out beyond the logistics network.

Great kitbashing as always, and some nice GS work on top - left handed Guardsman in particular! Looking forward to seeing these painted up to join the others :D

Thanks. He is a cool character with the cigar and angled gun. Thats going to be a fun one to paint

My new target is one trooper a week

That may not sound like much but its quick for me as i dont get that much time to paint any more and when I do I want to go into detail.

This weeks is one of the FW Vets

I find painting resin much harder than plastic due to the sharpness of all the moulds. Sometimes you cant get the highlights thick enough.

This guy also had an odd shaped head and the mouth was badly moulded. Thats why he looks like hes been punched in the face

I should get a few more done soon as I have a batch on my table thats almost ready.

Theres still another squad behind them to do too!
