Volt
So in my absence I've been toying more with ideas. Name is definitely out- I've instead come up with the "Chevaliers de l'Aigle Inflexible" for a French "high gothic" name, the "low gothic" translation being "Knights of the Eagle Adamant"- fitting as well considering French was originally the courtly tongue of much of Europe- English being how dirty filthy peasants spoke in backwater England until Edward III ushered in reforms in the mid 14th Century. Also came up with a different justification for the origin of the culture. The expeditionary Chapter Fleet scouting the outer reaches of the Galaxy during the Great Crusade was drawn from Terran Angels sourced from Franc on Earth- the command itself being true brothers (as in they shared the same mother kind of brother) who lived near the ancient and forgotten Duchies of Normandy and Brittany. Despite the passage of time some legends still lasted from the age along with very old and decayed historical sites. Fast forward to the start of the Horus Heresy when the Chapter Fleet is caught by a daemonic assault on the edge of the Astronomicon's light- a Greater Daemon of Nurgle fells the younger brother, who by natural talent for politicking rose up the ranks during the Great Crusade and became a Grand Master of the Chapter, Sigifrid (note by Chapter I mean the organization of "grand companies" in a Legion). Robert was caught elsewheres and only was able to come to the site of the slaughter when Sigifrid was comatose and seconds from bleeding out. Years later, both prior to reestablishing contact with the Imperium and after- Robert ends up constructing a civilization similar to faint memories from a distant childhood. Culturally and industrially, due to the sector being so far removed from the strength of the astronomicon, or even in some years having to go completely without out as the light fades, systems critically depend on a modernized version of the feudal system with every square inch of moons or more inhospitable planets dedicated to agri-farms. They vary from more efficient but still crude crop harvests to vast artificial oceans to sustain massive amounts of algae to be cultivated. http://imgur.com/a/lI0vS Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304144-brainstorming-for-two-custom-chapters/page/2/#findComment-4295430 Share on other sites
