CommissarZac
Not sure where this should go but thought I'd try here. The Carnasaurs My homebrewed Chapter. After being swallowed into the warp and deposited on a death world, these Salamander offshoots took to taming the local wildlife and using them as beasts of burden, then later as war beasts. More fluff to follow.http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2014/240/8/c/mesozoic_master_by_63mh8-d7x1grb.jpghttp://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/240/8/e/courageous_command_by_63mh8-d7x1grn.jpghttp://th06.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2014/240/8/4/cretaceous_crusher_by_63mh8-d7x1gqb.jpghttp://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/240/b/a/therapod_thrashers_by_63mh8-d7x1gqt.jpghttp://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2014/240/b/d/jurassic_sharpshooters_by_63mh8-d7x1gr4.jpghttp://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2014/240/6/5/stay_out_of_the_long_grass____by_63mh8-d7x1gfk.jpg
Lysimachus
Some nice conversions and jungle camo is a nice idea too. Not sure where this should go but thought I'd try here. While the Liber is dedicated to DIY Chapters, we focus more on the fluff side rather than modelling/painting. A few pics are fine as they can help to show off the character of your Chapter alongside the written background. However, if you're not planning on adding any written stuff (whether it's an IA or some other format) and just want to show off your army, you might find you'll get more helpful comments/feedback if you post in the Hall of Honour or Works in Progress forums, found in the Forge section? Let me know if you want this thread moved to one of the above forums, are the pics of completed paint jobs or are you planning to do more work on them? Edit: moved to HoH as requested! CommissarZac
If you would be so kind. Thank you. The paint jobs are mostly complete, but I am always working to improve them.
Bjorn Firewalker
Impressive. By the way, what rules are you using for the dinosaurs the Marines are riding? Do they count as Tyrannids? Cold One Knights, from the Dark Elves of 'Warhammer Fantasy Battle'? Does the Tyrannosaurus rider (Chapter Master?) count as Malekith on Black Dragon? CommissarZac
So far my friend and I have worked out the Rex is ridden by a SM LIb, and he must expend 2 warp charges to "Maintain control of the beast" or the rex rampages and assaults the nearest unit, friend or foe. The rex has the same profile as a carnifex with scything talons. The Raptors have been relieved of their riders and will have a single pack master on a SM bike. like Chris Pratt in Jurassic World. They will also be ran like a Thunderwolf cavalry. I have further plans for using Pteradons from the Lizardmen Pteradon riders, as jump packs for Assault marines. I am also working on various herbivore rhinos.
Bjorn Firewalker
By "herbivore rhino," do you mean a proxy Squiggoth? (I had ideas for mounting the Rhino chassis on two sets of Space Marine Dreadnought legs, forming a miniature AT-AT, but dismissed it as silly-looking.) CommissarZac
By herbivore rhino I mean I have a triceratops figure and an Ankylosaurus figure I wish to turn into transports. Also once I find a big enough Therapod figure I will convert it into a Land Raider.
Warlord Torvold
Jurassic Marines! I like it. There was a cartoon I used to watch as a kid Dino-Riders you might want to Google it to take a look at some of the art and toy line. It may help with some inspiration for making transports. Just a thought. As a side note recalling the the show and looking up when it aired has made me feel a little old.
Vykryl
I like it. Was thinking of doing something like it at some point but need to finish my current project before I start another. Hopefully your WIP has found a home now so I can keep tract of it. Looking forward to seeing more.
Marshal Reinhard
The paint jobs are mostly complete, but I am always working to improve them. While I really like your concept and the creativty here, I do think you could do a lot to improve the paint job. First of all I would focus on neatness, that is getting paint where you want it and cleaning up misses. I would start with eyes. While I think you may have gone for a glowy eyes effect on some minis, some, especially the riders, could benefit immensly with just having the red contained within the eyesocket. Next I would try to pick out some details, on the marines and their bolters, with metal, like the barrels and maybe the cabling on the marines backback and mouthpieces. Also, since your guys employ such a heavy use of green, it might not be bad to get a green wash. I see you've utilized a brown wash quite a lot on your minis, like the DV terminators (love the feathers on that sergeant btw). But start with neatness on some of the details IMO
CommissarZac
Thank you all for the advice. I will post more pics once I have cleaned them up some more.
Noctem Cultor
I love the idea and with advice and practice I can only see it getting better. I recommend looking at Eldar Exodites for ideas and examples as its a very similar idea. Keep up this fun project.
CommissarZac
Did a little touch up and thought I'd share the results Comments, critiques, likes, advise is always appreciated.
Bjorn Firewalker
Two questions regarding the triceratops-based transport: 1) Will you give it additional fire points, in addition to the two who can shoot from a vanilla Rhino's top hatch? 2) For its profile, will you give it Armor Values (like a conventional vehicle), or just high Toughness and Strength IN ADDITION TO a lot of wounds (like Tau battlesuits or the Ork Squiggoth)? Love the bloodstains on the T-rex's teeth.
CommissarZac
I plan to keep just the two shooting poinys of a vanilla rhino but I do plan on giving it a high Toughness. Also working out the kinks of a special rule where should the enemy assault it, and fauls to make the assault distance, the Tri-tops becomes onfuriated and charges the enemy team.
