Puppetswar Missile launchers for a Mortis dred?

So I want to have a mortis dred or two in my heresy era Salamanders army and with FW prices and shipping being a bit more than my budget can handle right now I´ve decided to re-purpose some old dreds with third party bits. The bits I have in mind are these: http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=224

Have anyone here tried using them on a drednought and how do they look? Are there any other third party bits that would look cool as missile launchers on a dred?

Also, from a gaming standpoint, what do you prefer on a anti-air dred: Autocannons, Missiles or lascannons?

I'm assuming you'll be arm mounting them as opposed to carapace mounting? For some reason, I think it will look a good bit like the Battletech Longbow/Robotech Whatever (which wouldn't be such a bad thing)...

...which on a Salamanders Contemptor would look something like (roughly to scale for the Puppet Wars missile launchers)...

Carapace mounted. one might fit on the torso - would be kinda tight, though.

Huh, didn´t think they where that big tongue.png

I was planning on mounting them on a normal plastic dred though, in about the same position as the normal missile launchers, at the shoulder pivot. The lunchers would probably look pretty good on a contemptor dred, but I´m worried they will clash with the boxy look of the standard dred. Any ideas?

They're 35mm long according to the PW store page. My scaling is a bit off (too big), but not by terribly much (the arm on the right arm is pretty close; on the left I forgot to account for the angle).

For a Mk IV/V Dread, I'd go with Kromlech's Zephyr Missile Launcher Mk 2. While both the base Zephyr and the Mk 2 are one piece launchers, the Mk 2 looks like it could be split down the middle to produce two launchers. Not sure on the scale, though - at a guess, it looks like Whirlwind sized.

I did a bit of searching and found the measurments for the Zephyr Mk 2 launcher, but I couldn´t find any measurments of the dreadnough missile arms to compare with. I don´t have my dreds nearby at the moment, you don´t happen to know the size of the arm section do you? msn-wink.gif

I was thinking I could maybe stack two modified Zephyr launchers on either side, might look real good with some plasticard magic added biggrin.png

Okay, Twisty, measuring my handy dandy why-haven't-you-asssembled-me-yet-father-I've-been-a-good-dreadnought Salamanders Contemptor, a carapace mounted one can fit if it's slightly forward of center - otherwise, you might be hitting the dread's exhaust. Arm mounted, I think it might work best without the usual shoulder cap - just attach the Zephyr's mounting base directly to the dread's shoulder joint.

Rules-wise, making a Contemptor's arms missile launchers means you'd have to run it counts-as a Mark V Mortis - Contemptors can only take a single carapace-mounted missile launcher.

EDIT: Oh, and while I'm compiling my list of bits sellers... Also check out Secret Weapon Miniatures.

Well the thing is that i´m not talking about mounting them on a contemtor dred, just a standard castaferum plastic gw drednought. tongue.png

I was thinking about doing something along the lines of this: http://i.imgur.com/TWmeNJo.jpg

But I think they are to small for that, so maybe I could stack them like this: http://i.imgur.com/AAFzPv5.jpg

The secret weapon ones are also nice, but think they are even smaller. But on the other hand their design will look better if I decide to stack a bunch of launchers.
