40k Mechanicum

Recommended Posts

I'v been waiting for them for 20 years, since the Codex Imperialis in the 2nd edition starter box. I'm obviously buying anything that's being released, and I'm obviously going to die from starvation for this.

The flesh is weak, brother. Let the machine sustain you.

Yeah, flesh is weak: I could sell my stomach and intestines and replace the with mechanical parts... but then I doubt I would be left with enough money for the new army, so that seems a bit pointless. Unless I am to consider that new cyborg-incarnation of myself as the first model of the new army.

Pre-ordering so hard, the GW website will burst. They would make a perfect addition to my current force when it comes to looks and fluff and should synergize well with my core elements, IF they are anything like the 30k dudes (chances are good that they are). But we will see, getting it either way. Getting rid of it on ebay is not an issue with Ltd Editions :D

I just don't know about the str 3 guns. sure they generate extra wounds but it feels like they need more... also those special weapons are awesome but so darn expensive.

But... Gunslinger primes?

The special weapons do look pretty cool, and you can apparently take 3 with 10 men. And they have the option for an auspex.

I'm wondering if there might be a wicked synergy between Vanguard and Scyllax, if they can stack then the Vanguard would lose 1T from the Scyllax, the Scyllax's rad immunity would keep it as-is and the enemy would lose 2T from being locked in combat with both Scyllax and Vanguard.

I'm not sure about the walkers, they look very big for glorified love childs of Sentinels and Penitent Engines. It would be expensive to gather enough for good use I think which is a shame because they're cool models.

The troopers look absolutely fantastic. To finally have AdMech plastics is something I'm sure I won't be able to resist, Guard conversions aside. A small allied infantry contingent would be cool and fluffy, my wallet and time will just have to hope that it doesn't snowball into a full army

As I said in the other post, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't stack, except the fact that those units were not designed to be used in the same games. If Forge World will ever release a list to use Skitarii in 30k, they will probably tweak a little the Vanguard's special rule rule.

Big fan of the idea of a 10 man vanguard unit w/ 4 arc rifles, the data link + ausipex in a pod. 8 haywire/s6 shots and 18 rad poisoning shots. Should be able to put a pretty dint in most things.

You can't take 4 Arc Rifles. You can take 3 and an Arc Pistol though.

the only thing is these guys seem a little too expensive with all the weapons you could add. would it be more cost efficient to only give them two?

I am really split about the Kaliver, since it costs twice as much as a regular Plasma. Arc Rifle is nuts though. Kills any AV and S6 against infantry to boot. I see no downside apart from needing to be within 12" for full effect.

I agree, as this seems to be the best so far. maybe a set up like 2 arcs, 1 arc pistol and 1 plasma?

these guys are fairly expensive as it is though, with a full vanguard squad w/ 3 arcs, arc pistol and omni being about 5 points more than a tactical squad with combi-melta melta... wait a second, that is fairly cheap.

how does it compare to guard vets?

10 Vets with 4+ save and 3 Meltas are 105pts, 120pts with Plasmas. This is why I say Kaliver guys are very suboptimal. You pay up the arse with 180pts only to have a 60-70% chance of frying a guy per shooting phase to overheating and you only get 3 more Plasma shots. Not worth it.

With the Arc Rifle, you are at 135pts for 10 dudes that have 4+, Relentless, 6+ FnP and -1T for enemy in base contact during CC. That is extremely solid and the only build actually superior to vets. When Plasma is needed, Vets all day every day.
