Ulrik_Ironfist
Hehe...kids...Wicked Evil Grin...you'd've had to've been in high school in the 90s...it's from the FIRST GENERATION of text-speak. 1337-speak uses numbers and letters, and is full of skulduggery... can't lie though, I hate 1337 and text speak, especially since I've read college papers that had it in there. Needless to say, I recommended a failing grade for it (peer review processes can be brutal). Would this be the same leet speak that of any age is still against the rules of the B&C..? No, just an anachronism... Back to topic! All hail the mighty Baneblade! morroccomole
So wait, Can you put more than one squad from a platoon in a transport if the capacity is big enough? I thought only one unit could embark on a transport, or are Superheavies different? I read from another thread, in the Stragegium section, that multiple units can embark on turn 1, as long as they all fit. However, since they aren't dedicated transports, they can't be deployed that way. If I have this wrong, someone correct me, I'm not super familiar with the transport general rules. Ulrik_Ironfist
You can deploy a unit inside a transport that's not dedicated. It's just that you can't deploy a unit inside another unit's dedicated transport. morroccomole
So essentially, dedicated transports are just ways to cram vehicles into a list while skirting the FOC?[Edit: As opposed to FOC slotted vehicles, which also happen to have transport capacity] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304925-baneblades/page/3/#findComment-4133818 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Not quite how I'd put it, but yes. Guard can do fiendish AV12 saturation in this way :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304925-baneblades/page/3/#findComment-4133833 Share on other sites

[Edit: As opposed to FOC slotted vehicles, which also happen to have transport capacity] In a word, yes. Though dedicated transports do more than that, as they take on the FOC type of the unit they're dedicated to. So an ogryn chimera counts as elites, while a veteran or infantry platoon chimera is troops. Meaning that your infantry squad can pile out to hold a mid field objective, while their chimera can run ahead and cap an objective on another part of the board, netting you double the objectives. That's why drop pods are so vicious, because you can obsec an objective with the drop pod and keep it locked down so the opponent has to dedicate time and firepower to getting rid of it. morroccomole
I guess I had overlooked that somewhere in my rulebook readings. Knowing that Chimeras can cap objectives will probably change how I play!
