Scribe
The table seriously is the best thing, easily, for Khorne Chaos in a long time. My opponent was shocked it wasnt some random BS and I got to actually choose what works best at that point. Lucio
I'm getting ready to make my lord and namesake...I was looking at the fantasy Khorne Skullreapers and thinking they'd make a great base for a lord. But I'm thinking they might just be too tall/broad. Any thoughts? They are big, just using the torsos made my Berzerkers reach 34mm, using the legs made my CSM reach nearly 40mm However both squads look awesome so it's worth doing IMO Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305221-khorne-daemonkin-discussion-tactics-background/page/27/#findComment-4040434 Share on other sites
Charlo
Yeah, in terms of fun I don't think I've seen an army like it. Very sad I didn't get a similar system (or decurion) as the loyalist blood Marines Might have to wait to see what they do next time around with this book, but the idea is on the back burner for sure. Infinitely sad they didn't make Jugger riding Zerkers though, they basically have a model in fantasy even... They could've been something very special compared to the stupid 6+ Jugger Letters. ....Blood Angels got 5th edition furious charge, have Khorne Beserkers that can take jump packs, have FNP, and can have power weapons (Death company-though they are now WS4), have ATSKNF, have excellent psyhic powers, pretty good drednoughts, Grav weapons, drop pods, Landraiders other than godhammer, Heavyflamers in Tac Squads, Combat Squads, ATSKNF, Blood Priests that can grant FNP in a bubble, a non forgeworld Flier that's easily purchasable from hobby shops that's an assault vehicle. Oh and your tanks are mostly fast and are Faction Imperium (with the exception of chapter tactics Space Sharks/Carcaradons, can battle brother ally with just about every other Imperial army including Knights). >_> Daemonkin undoes some of the failure that Phil Kelly wrought upon us, but it's got a long way to go. It's biggest strength is that we can actually get a bonus from our guys dying in droves/being forced to challenge and losing-which was happening anyways its just that we didn't get anything for it. Like I've said when it released, I'm shocked that the Blood Tithe table wasn't random. Not being able to take dedicated Landraiders or having assault rhinos sucks, but there it is. Oh yeah I know what we do have I was moaning about what we don't ;) Chaos will get it's day, sadly though I don't think it'll be until next edition. Lucio
Lucio, can I get a close up on that Juggerlord? Sure thing! He's a mix of the Skullreaper parts, a Skullcrusher Juggernaut (for the saddle) and Thunderwolf cavalry legs. He's magnetised to the saddle for ease pf transport which fitted nicely into a hole cut into the tail. Adra'Melek
I'm using Skullreapers for berserkers. Adding in chaos knight parts and berserker arms (about the same size as the knight arms). http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-CVumV9aQhAc/VVUPQteMYEI/AAAAAAAAAZA/28GVGLJWhrs/s2048-no/IMG_1410.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Yq4lT0UCXbE/VVUPR3L5F8I/AAAAAAAAAZI/xgHkD7gBohU/s2048-no/IMG_1411.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TO8CD4-AQX4/VVUPTP6FWCI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/tX7GO_Yzk8A/s2048-no/IMG_1413.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-okfI_PBm680/VVUPUR5UnFI/AAAAAAAAAZY/n6RfKd6FhMs/s2048-no/IMG_1416.JPG Looking forward to painting them but need to finish current vow first for ETL. LamerVonDoomieMcdoomerson
Something I've noticed is that you can give a CL a bike and a jump pace in the KDK codex. Maybe not the greatest gimmick but something I noticed. That's surely a typo, and isn't intended-more over that's not been done in any other Space Marine book in history that I can recall hearing about. And if it was-it'd be Loyalists, you'd get Eternal Warrior and D strength attacks. LamerVonDoomieMcdoomerson
True. But then you get to use this guy: http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=346 and have the wonkeyest movment ever, as you can bike or jump, turbo-boost, and sometimes get a re-roll on the charge (assuming you didn't jump movment phase). In addition to the +1 toughness, twin-linked bolters, relentelss as well as deep strike. 7 meltabombs dosent seem like to high a price to pay for this wacky fun. Quixus
You forgot he gets Hammer of Wrath (for using the JP in the Assault Phase) and 12" movement for riding the bike. Not quite as good as Raven Guard Chapter Tactics but still something. Charlo
That's actually pretty hilarious, bike in the move phase the use your pack in assault. Just tool up a really killy lord with bikers and go for the backfield, detatching him to charge a separate unit with his super charge Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305221-khorne-daemonkin-discussion-tactics-background/page/27/#findComment-4044121 Share on other sites
Sception
I like the skullreaper berzerkers. I might steal that, If I ever do a berzerker unit. The larger bodies make the regular chaos marine backpacks look appropriately sized (imo they're too big normally, especially after seeing the chosen / kranon with their imo much better proportions all round). I'd go for press molded chosen shoulder pads instead of regular, though, as they're a bit more ornate. Khornestar
Not yet, I'd like to try it but I just can't bring myself to use the Bloodcrushers. So many points for what they do. *shrug* I like the idea of them for the precision deep strikes. Nothing game-breaking, but I want to precision DS a unit of 2 Blood Slaughterers with impalers and drag some vehicles/MC around. Res Ipsa Loquitur
How do you use the Charnel Cohort DS rules to bring in a Blood Slaughterer? As far as I can see, the DSing unit has to be part of the CC Formation to not scatter and I don't see how you can take a Blood Slaughterer as part of the Formation. I actually was only thinking about the banner upgrade for a unit of bloodcrushers which allows any Daemon of Khorne to deep strike without 6" and not scatter. Res Ipsa Loquitur
The Bloodcrushers are mainly why I feel 'iffy' about it on the table. Those, plus the HQ tax, don't seem worth it when the only real advantage to the Formation is the precision DS, which you can achieve by giving a Slaughtercult unit of Bloodletters a Banner of Blood for less than the price of a Power Fist. I'm not overwhelmed by the idea of the -2 Ld penalty, but I'm yet to play a game of 7th Ed. so maybe it's more powerful than I'm giving it credit for? Khornestar
In certain situations, sure. Against Space Marines (my most frequent opponent) it rarely matters. Res Ipsa Loquitur
Yeah, I'm expecting to be up against the Loyalist scum most often, too. Another thing I just realised, the Banner of Blood works for all Daemons of Khorne while the CC Formation DS SR only works for units in the CC Formation. There really doesn't seem to be any advantage in taking a CC Formation. 190pt min. Bloodcrusher and HQ tax to gain a worse version of a 20pt upgrade and a largely irrelevant ability. Derp. Khar'vros the Crazed
Looks like a few interesting formations are coming our way from the Blood Oath Campaign! "The Bloodied Horde", "The Fist of Khorne", "Hellforged Hunting Pack", and "The Goreguard" The Bloodied Horde: 8 Units of Bloodletters, 2 Blood Crushers, and 2 Skull Cannons...must start in deepstrike reserve, and one roll brings it all in. And the letters and crushers come back on a 4+ when they are destroyed. The Fist of Khorne: 20 man squad of zerkers and a Kharybdis Assault Claw...when the claw deep strikes in, if it lands on a building or a vehicle, said vehicle or building takes a str D ap 1 hit...the claw is then placed as close as possible to its landing site and is immobilized. The zerkers can assault the same turn they deep strike in. Those are the two I see might be useful, the other two are huge and probably will never be used outside of a massive points game Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305221-khorne-daemonkin-discussion-tactics-background/page/27/#findComment-4045485 Share on other sites
