Gang,

A teaser topic for this year's ETL Painting Challenge is up and in full swing over in Amicus: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/305398-etl-2015are-you-ready/?p=3993777

I'm dropping this here as a reminder and to encourage folks to start preparing for the challenge now, if you're up for competing in it.  One thing you can do to prepare is get models planned out, purchases made, and assembly/conversions made ahead of time, throughout April.  Then, when the competition official starts (announcement TBD, but expect early May), then you can start pumping out painted models, for RUSS!

We had a rather poor showing last year, but I blame much of that on hesitation induced with the impending, but not yet released 7e codex.  Now that we've had the better part of a year to get familiar with the codex and supplement, everybody ought to be comfortable with moving forward with army expansion, and this painting challenge.

Best of luck to you all.

V

For those that want to get more familiar with the project, here is a link to the announcement and rules for last years' ETL: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290369-e-tenebrae-lux-iii/?p=3668877

Remember, these are the old version from 2014, and the organizer is likely to make some adjustments, so don't take these guidelines as anything other than for familiarization.

I was planning in starting one of these threads after seeing one pop up in the Horus Heresy subforum, but Im happy to see Valerian beat me to it.

while I dont believe I can crank out the submissions of the past, I'm certainly game to represent the Aett again.

Well the twice Forum Champion has returned!

It was WLKs inspired leadership (and gatzillion of points) that made the SWs come third in the first ETL - and an outsider they were... It is time that the Wolves will roam again, this most busy of forums must force its dominance on a unsuspecting world.

Will you be able to do it again this time?

Oh Captain, you certain know how to blow smoke up my skirt.

I've halted work on my Wolves until next month, and am going to strip what little I've done up to the moment.

If this is point based and I have 5 TDA to paint, is it bad form to add them up as Lone Wolve or HQ variants? If magnatizing, would I add points of all my options?

Yes, i find that to be bad form.

I've no doubt it will happen across Bolter and Chainsword, but I hope that we of the Aett are more loyal to the spirit of the ETL, rather than its rules.

and no, you only add the points for the complete model.

I would agree with Immersturm. And, I only ask WLK as I couldn't think of another way to paint as many points as some of you big dogs have cranked out in years past. I might be able to do your >5k, if I got rid of my family, quit my job, and had everything assembled and waiting for me on day 1 (I'd probably need some one to cook and feed me while I was using every waking hour to paint). I have no idea how someone could do >27k.

It doesnt matter how much you do, as long as you contribute something and have fun.

remember, other than a badge and finished models, there are no REAL prizes for winning this.

Trust me, unless I stumble across a winning lottery ticket, I doubt 3rd times the charm!

Trust me, I'm all about fun as well- and will not be in the competition for a top spot. I was just wondering if others here would appreciate my small contributions to be more tactically advantageous, albeit cheesy, for our faction or not. I was also hoping that the magnetized options would be point worthy only to add a bit of motivation for me to paint all the pieces I have available that aren't my go to builds (I've got a lot of magnetized yet unpainted arms and weapons lying around).

My true conundrum was that I recently got 2 units of TWC, and thought I'd save the painting for here. I've done some converting and got my Wolf Lord with Krakenbone and Iron Priest figured out, and was less certain of what I wanted the others to be. Then I thought, mmm... maybe I want to spam thunder wolf mounted lords and priests mixed with fenrisian wolves instead of only one of each in a group of TWC. The difference in points between 4 TWC (even if armed with storm shields, wolf claws, and powerfists) and the lords and priests option is quite substantial and was somewhat afraid of being seen as a "cuss". I've got a little while yet to figure it out, but when I do, I'll do what I think is going to be the most fun.
