Bloodbath reporting as ordered Sir.

Kinda how I feel about my plate carrier... I don't need all that bulky soft armor, and frag protection, all I need is my plates and my rifle!

The reason I like the Guard, is the same reason I like my Tau. Shoot the everything! OVERWHELMING FIREPOWER!!!!!!

yeah, screw those IBAs!

I never even used a plate carrier. we did whatever we wanted.

so, on to real questions

1. how do you use Pask to the best effect?

2. Are the regimental advisors worthwhile, or is it mainly a fluff thing(which is cool)?

3. is there a wheel kit for the Chimera?

I think that's all for now.

goodnight awesome nerds!

1) I run Pask in a squadron of 3 Punishers with heavy bolters and heavy stubbers.  This gives you 96 shots.  20 of which are rending, combine that with prefered enemy, and you have an instant blob killer.

2) Meh,  Bout the only one I would bring is the master of ordnance.  (Orbital strike sukkas!!!)

3)  Here you go    "The Wheels on the bus go round and round."    "Shut up Carl"

Thanks Zac ans Ulrik!

1. Punishers, those are the ones with the gatling guns right? if so.....HELLS YEAH! my sy son will be my main enemy, and he plays nids. so that'll help. funnily enough, strangers find it weird when I call my son filthy Xenos scum in public....he usually replies with "you wanna get spanked, Biomass"

my kid rules. and is so deep in the nerd forest.

2.  so the guy with the radio isn't just a special commo guy, he can actually do something....cool. so the dress blues guy is good too then.

3. heh, that is awesome I am seriously considering doin all my Chimeras with that. almost like Strikers(minus 2 wheels anyways)

also have anyone noticed how the Taurox looks kinda like an MRAP with minitracks?

I use all the Advisers. My last campaign game my Officer of the Fleet stopped half of my opponents army coming on to the table until turn 4 and I'm starting to really like psychers. Punishers are awesome. I almost always have Pask in his but I will change up his wingmen depending on what I'm facing.

another couple questions....

is there any resources for FEMALE guard bits? well, serious ones anyways, not into the whole bikinis in space thing.

can you actually use the "last chancers and Gaunt's Ghosts? or are the minis relegated to just being cool stuff to paint?

when is the next Faction specific challenge, I am nowhere near ready for ETL. plus I would really dig some of those sweet medals for my sig!

and with chapterhouse minis does anyone have any experience with the "SCAR" pattern lsaguns? the SCAR-H is what I used in the Army and having a few of those would be

awesome! are they difficult to add?

The only one I'm confident to answer is Last Chances/Gaunt's Ghosts.  The former is purely cool models, with no specific rules since 4th edition I think.  As for the Ghosts, sadly there are currently no viable codex or even dataslates for them that I know of, though all of their models are usable in the IG codex in one form or another.

2.  so the guy with the radio isn't just a special commo guy, he can actually do something....cool. so the dress blues guy is good too then.

No problem.

Think of the Company Command Squad like your typical field BDE TOC. You have the CC, who is the commander and Battle Captain in one, the Master of Ordinance is your JTAC/ALO/Artillery Officer, and the Officer of the Fleet is like an ALO/Air Battle Commander in one. The regular VOX guy is your RTO/BFT guy, and you have some vets pulling security (My CCS will have a HWT).

Yes, the Taurox does look like an MRAP with MATTRACKS.

I like the taurox, it's actually a pretty cool model, especially the prime, I have two of them (they came with my tempestus army). They aren't that tough, when your opponent can put his troops right next to your truck, but hey...

Most of my collection up to this point is all centered around the Third War for Armageddon. In other words, a fair amount of Steel Legion troops and a focus on keeping things fluffy.

I was initially inspired by the people who have used DKoK minis to represent them, both because they are nice models, and have all the options you want as opposed to the offerings on the Steel Legion models. I started of with a DKoK kit, but came around to the Steel Legion models again while painting the first batch, for a number of reasons. Steel Legion models are cheap in comparison, easier to paint in large numbers, and with the Las Cannon kit you can pair them with for instance the plastic Auto Cannons for more options.

My solution. The regular Steel Legion troops represent the lowly rank and file of the platoons. The DKoK minis represent better equipped and trained veteran(lack of melta guns is the biggest achilles heel of the Steel Legion models) and command squads. When painted alike the effect is quite nice.

Then there's the "unconventional" troops connected to Armageddon armed forces. Armageddon Orks Hunters and Savlar Chem Dogs for instance gives you a fluffy way to add Catachans and other converted troops as single specialized veteran teams to your army.

Beyond that I am even able to go Apocalypse scale with my entire collection, combining my Orks and Steel legion to form a fluffy Ghazghkull and Von Strab(traitorous Ork ally/puppet) army. Which can go toe to toe with my Marines, Sororitas, Knight and even other AM elements like my Ork Hunters and Yarrick.

Here's a list over different female heads:

Statuesque Miniatures

BlackCatBases

HassleFreeMiniatures

VictoriaMiniatures

Basicks

ChapterHouseStudios

BrotherVinnis

GW (Wyches)

EDIT: Jacinda beat me to the Statuesque Miniatures-link.

Wow, thanks guys.

That Taurox wheel kit.......so sexy. I'm pretty sure chimeras and taur's on gonna have wheels. The rule of Cool demands it.

And statuesque are very nice. I am definitely gonna mix some women into my platoons. Oh, and different skin tones too! I don't believe in an Anglo-Saxon dark millennium.

Now just need to find some sniper minis to "count as" Rawlings, because those minis are horrendous.

Also in a stroke of genious(well, search engine luck actually) I have finally found a camo scheme I like. It's gonna be an old rogue trader era scheme. The one with black flak and grey fatigues with tiger stripes in dark grey and white. I'll post a pic when I'm not at work.

I run pask in a vanquisher...that way, he basically autopenetrates AV14...but...you still get shaken/stunned half the time.  The main reason I run him that way is to keep him alive by burying him in a corner with a loooong ranged gun.  He's only died twice in 26 games, which a punisher pask can hardly claim.  Punisher pask kills more, but he also surrenders that warlord VP a lot more.  JMHO, YMMV!

/edit/

As for regimental advisors, the office of the fleet is the best one...and if you have two of them, their effects can stack!!!  That can really screw with an opponent's reserves or basically ensure that yours arrive on turn two (if you're using them).

They do stack. This is a great opportunity for guard. I personally do not use much of any reserves. So I use this against my opponents. I have three vendettas that rarely get used. I prefer using tanks and infantry to grind my opponents down, in a battle of attrition.

wow, they STACK! yep, gonna have to get some Mordians to bang another one together.

My background is Armored Cavalry Recon (pathfinder) and Airborne Ranger(like there's any other kind) but I also pulled some time with Old Ironsides and 23rd Firers brigade. so I have some armor and Artillery chops under belt as well.

so My initial army plan is this; (funnily enough, you guys are addictively awesome and I;m thinking just IG for a while.......no combined force.)

1. Mechanized Infantry

2. An Armored division, To bring some rolling thunder.

3. An Artillery Detachment for that long rang punch.

4. An Air Assault support unit, because reasons.

I am really liking the flexibility of the gaurdsman and I am really digging how my real world experience applies.

OOOOOOOH Imma bout to bring some PAIN!

I've actually run my tempestus successfully with allies. The tempestus provided the Air Support, while my space wolves gave them a ride to the fight, and took the heat off them by running interference. I used a Land Raider Crusader Full of Blood Claws, ThunderWolf Cavalry, and Grey Hunters in a drop pod, plus two dreads in drop pods, and two FA slot drop pods, for my Tempestus to ride down in, all at 2K. It worked beautifully, the Scions killed things with shooting, while Wolves melee'd the crap out of stuff. The ThunderWolf Cavalry soaked up so much fire it wasn't funny and they took 1 wound the whole game. I have also run them with a Knight, which works very well for a tarpit. The knight is really a distraction, and It's always my hope that my opponent sinks points into killing it, so my Scions can do work.

Right now my wolves are my armor component, so when I need tanks I turn to them.

There is so much machismo in this thread I think it's impossible not to get some on you. And this is coming from a Chair Force guy. cool.png

Don't sell yourself short. I'm second generation Air Force, and I was a BAMF (just because I'm me). What was your AFSC?

Let's keep the discussion to 40k and the topic at hand please, lest you find out all the machismo in the galaxy is powerless before the commissariat... ;)

Your army plan is sound Blood, looks like you've got a great handle on the Guard already. Obviously thanks to our efforts of course!

@warriorfish, as stated earlier.....

All I need are the kind, loving, positive, affirming, self esteem building words from the Commissar to spur me on to the Emperor's glory.

or a well place bolt pistol round, whatever!

man, going through the FW website last night. I really like those CCS. not sure about the scanner, but the Commander with a power fist looks pretty boss.

but I'll start with Gee-dub plastic first. I need to get rolling with some paint.

also, a couple more questions

1.is there a good place online to buy paint? I prefer vallejo, as they can freeze without ill effect and will work for the airbrush I am getting soon. but, will use P3 and Citadel as well.

2. I need bits, like crazy stupid lots of bits. where can I go for these. I am going to do something not usually seen in the guard. and I need to get bits to do this.

mainly equipment type stuff like grenades pouches, magazines, knives, canteens and the like.  you know GRUNT STUFF.
