April 1st Legion WIPs - The Emperor's Black Knights

Recommended Posts

So over on the HH subforum a variety of us pledged to finish painting/modeling some of our plastic dudesmen.

I pledged:

10 terminators

- 5 nearly done painted

- 5 just primed black

- Strike Commander Calenhad (Lufgt Huron model)

- Paladin Lucan Gwynbliedd

Here was what I started with:

P.S. I hate faces.

Once I get my Huron model in I will begin converting. Everything else is getting done when I have spare time.

Thanks for checking!

Hello, great painting job, better than I can do!

Your faces are looking a little heavy on the paint, but you at least have the core concept down; clean and hopefully try to go slightly easy on the paint if you can in the future!

The sword in the last pic is bent slightly down, just to let you know.  Still, other than that, your armors are amazing!

Yeah I was working with old paint haha, maybe that's the true issue. I tried to thin it down and do multiple layers, but alas it wasn't enough.

As for the sword, I didn't notice it until the picture, so I'll have to go back and try to use a hair dryer or something to bend it back!

As for the armor, thank you! I think the lighting might be giving me some undeserved credit though haha, it looks like I did more highlighting than I actually did...

Sometimes paints just sit for too long and go bad; always a concern, so a little bit of water can help return the water, however with acryllic paints, things can go wrong with water if not done right I hear.  There are tips online worth looking up, that's for sure.

Thanks for fixing his blade!

Take a look, and see if you like some of the highlights the lighting gave you; if you do, and they're not yours, maybe you can make it look like that normally even in other light sources' light?  If so, then they might just look even that amazing all the time!

Thanks for listening!

Sweetheart:huh: !!!  Nice touch on the Decals. now they look like the 1st. Winter Lager my Favorite.

I'll try to get better pictures with them, but I think they are too glossy in real life, I'll need to slap a coat of matte varnish on them.

As for the winter lager, I've moved on to spring beers. I just had a local craft beer from southern Illinois called Blueberry Blonde for anyone interested, it's pretty dang good.

The amount of beer I go through might make me a space wolf....

Looks Good. :tu:

Thanks! It's my first time doing a legit green stuff conversion...so I was a bit apprehensive.

The learning curve on that stuff is steep, but you learn a lot the first time you do it. I think for future sculpting, I'll do a few thin sheets of GS building up on each other. I think the top of the surplice looks a bit chunky :P

Do mustaches add +2 to your manliness score?
