Interesting... Hey, the Jackals are based on Australian Aboriginal culture somewhat right? Maybe Willym could have the same kind of skin tone to add to that theme and to add a bit of diversity to the Primarchs in that respect? Edited by SanguiniusReborn

You know being that The Emperor is from around Turkey I figured most Primarchs would have deep olive tone or tan skin. Though the artwork always made me think he was Native American because he looks like a lot of my family.

That must mean that...3000 YEARS AGO THE EMPEROR HAD SEX WITH A WOMAN AND CREATED YOUR FAMILY!!!!

Yeah I planned for all my Fugite natives to be black and my Terrans to be deeply tanned, so I don't see any reason why Willym couldn't be black as well.

Hey, then we may have two "black" skin colored legions. ^^

And my Primarch will likely have some dreads, too. ;)

That would make 2 primarchs with dreads as kawil has them too.

@Blunt: oh would that be cool if the jackals make a haka before the fight^^

Ah, tipsy spelling strikes again. Watch a haka with subtitles and it goes:

"It is death! It is death!

It is life! It it life!

This is the hairy man who made the sun shine!"

My family are big on rugby. I'm more a pelting down rivers dodging rocks sort of guy myself

Wodoi  195 points

The Wodoi were a peculiarity in the XVIIIth. They were neither accepted nor shunned. Willym had argued vigorously against their appointment, but had eventually relented to his father’s commands. After this he did not send them to guard some backwater world or play babysitter for new recruits. Instead he commissioned a battle barge for their use and allowed them to accompany the expeditionary fleet as it ploughed through the galaxy. Thus the Wodoi became a force of grey, neither shunned nor accepted by the primarch, although they were treated with disdain by the mainstream legion. as such the Wodoi fought with passion and fury, ever determined to prove their worth to their brothers, commanders, and most importantly, the primarch.

Unit composition: 5 Wodoi

Unit type: Jump Infantry

Artificer Armour

Jump Pack

Power Dagger

Frag and Krak grenades

Tecoma Spear

Tecoma spears were energised polearms designed to be hurled with incredible force at the enemy before flying back to the hand of the wielder via magnetic technology. Used on Fugion by the elite caste, as both a hunting tool and a weapon of war, Willym saw fit to introduce an upgraded version more suitable for space marines into the legion. They were useful in close quarters combat, and any skilled warrior equipped with one could run circles around a slower opponent

Range: 15” S:4 AP:4 Assault 1

Counts as a Charnabel sabre in close combat

May take up to 5 additional Wodoi for… +24 points per model

Any model may take meltabombs… +5 points per model

The entire squad may take Wyrmbat hides… +25 points

Legiones Astartes (SJ)

Vigilance

Meteoric impact

Chosen Warriors

Stain of Duty

Vigilance: Wodoi squads ignore the penalties for disordered charges if charging into a combat that contains a friendly independent character.

Thunderous Impact: Models with this special rule always count as not having used their jump packs in the movement phase. Hammer of wrath hits made by a model with this special rule have +1 strength.

Stain of Duty: Wodoi squads may only ever be joined by Praetors. In campaigns, they may never gain rewards for surviving the battle, etc.

I feel like the word "Tecoma" has been used before around these parts, could someone please tell me whether its already in use somewhere. Otherwise, C&C welcome

I like the look of them. But before I critique at all what is their A value?

Just when I'd thought I'd actually proof read effectively....

Their attack value is 2.

I'll leave commenting on the rules to those better suited to it than myself. However, what are the wodoi? What function do they fulfill in the kegion?

The Wodoi are the bodyguards and primarchs retinue. They are like those of the WE, present but ignored.

Ok. So critique.

Staline: I think this is good. They are nicely understated, I love that they have BS5 rather than the stereotypical WS5 of other legions' elites.

Equipment: The spear looks good and the other kit meshes quite well too. A couple of things though. I have a little cognitive dissonance with the Tecoma Spear being called a polearm and then only being one handed (probably because I imagine a polearm to be something like a halberd and thus two handed, so I'm happy to let it go if you give me an impression of something lighter). The other is to check that they are intended to never get the benefit of two weapons? As I believe that power daggers are specialist and charnabal sabres aren't (This is likely deliberate, but I just want to check).

Special Rules: The vigilance rule is nice and give the impression of bodyguards racing to the rescue, but the second part doesn't ever come into play does it? As they already get re-rolls for charges due to their jump packs never count as being used in the move phase. Thunderous(Meteoric?) Impact looks good too and is actually a rule I was suggesting for someone else (albeit under a different name). And I like the drawback of Stain of Duty, it limits their battlefield role as they can either be joined by a Praetor or no-one, which is fluffy.

The upgrades look pretty good too, with the exception of the points on the additional members. I don't think that 17 points is enough for what they are. I would push them into the 25-30 point each region for the additional members. Other than that I think the base cost looks about right (and in the region of other similar units, which is good).
