Rifledread or laspred in 7th

Hey guys,

I'm looking for people's experiences or opinions on taking a rifledread or a laspred in a gun line IF space marine army.

As it stands I have a predator and will be adding 2 dreads from the strike force box sets. I plan to magnetise these to operate in multiple roles depending on opponent (podding melta dreads). But for future expansion of my army and getting the most bang for my points, which do people rate better?

At the moment I am squeezing in 1 laspred and 2 rifledreads, but I haven't had the opportunity to play test it yet!

I use the gun line when facing the horde armies in my group.

Thanks in advance!

Depends what you are shooting at.

Rifle dread will pop some transports and bounce off a battle tank, but it'll cut troops to pieces. The las-pred will poke holes in vehicles of all types, but if its faced with a horde of infantry you're better off running them over than shooting at them.

Stercus said it all, both fill a different support role :)

Think about what you need the most from your previous battles and fill the gap with those. The Rifleman Dreadnought is better suited at killing infantry from afar. Its performance against transports is debatable because while it will do well against Rhinos, against AV12 it will struggle more.

The Laspredator is mainly an anti-vehicle/MC platform and it does well in that regard :)

When it comes to the predator consider using the autocannon with lascannon sponsons rather than triple las, the cost of the upgrade to a twin linked lascannon is,IMO, not worth it. That said, magnets are your friend.

I would disagree with you on this one, because with so few weapons, I feel that it dillutes the firepower of the Predator too much in different targets and in my humble opinion 2 autocannon shots don't bring much against armour (but it all depends on what kind of anti tank there is elsewhere in the army obviously).

After all, you only pay 5 points extra for the Lascannon over the standard cost to make it twin-linked and this is so useful on a single shot weapon with a high quality shot !
