Jolemai
Quick question as I'm a tad confused. As a Blood Angel, we display our Legion/Chapter badge on the left shoulder pad. The right pad has the company markings and the knee pad has the squad markings. How would this mesh the the studded armour? The Legion/Chapter badge goes on the left pad and whilst a Space Marine in ambidextrous, they hold the gun in their right hand and advance with the left side showing to display their heraldry to strike fear in their foes (it's also somewhat reinforced fort his reason?). When Power Armour was required to be bonded from lesser materials in makeshift repairs, the studded pattern was formed and these all appear to be on the left pad. Where do I display the Legion/Chapter badge? Or am I just confusing myself by thinking around it in circles? JeffTibbetts
Well, back in the day this simply meant the chapter badge was shifted to the right shoulder pad. I haven't seen anything to contradict this myself, and that's how I've always done it. Most other marks display on the left Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306209-studded-shoulder-pads/#findComment-4010432 Share on other sites
Jolemai
So it's as simply as that, eh? I guess the company marking would give way? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306209-studded-shoulder-pads/#findComment-4010525 Share on other sites
Aqui
So it's as simply as that, eh? I guess the company marking would give way? It depends on the Chapter or Legion I suppose, but a quick google shows this: Search link. Some of the images show company or squad markings on leg armour or sharing the right paldron. Ultimately, I think there's plenty of scope to do what you like the look of Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306209-studded-shoulder-pads/#findComment-4010533 Share on other sites
Ovidius Incertus
Lol...good thing I haven't glued any of the studded pauldrons down! That said, since I was planning on doing the company blood drop on the studded one anyway, regardless of which shoulder it's on, I don't think it'd be that onerous to paint a single drop in the middle of the studded pauldron and then hit the studs with a drybrush to make them pop. JeffTibbetts
I've never been a fan of markings on the studded shoulder pad, but if it's done right with a simple symbol it might work well. Any pics or examples? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/306209-studded-shoulder-pads/#findComment-4010574 Share on other sites

Durus
If you are doing 2nd to 5th company, you could just paint the blood drop on the chapter symbol in the corresponding color. Failing that you can always put the marking onto the greaves of the the marine as well. If you need some more inspiration on where to put markings or how to incorporate them all into one pad I highly recommend having a look at Insignium Astartes (It's been OOP for a while now, but you can find a lot of it on google, even if you don't have the paper version of it).
