Quick W.I.P update of the Castigator since I had a few hours to kill last night and today.

Black is way more of a pain to paint then I thought when I began this project, but these knights are going to end up looking awesome.

We've been making headway again and we've had another vow, this time from Rage of Khorne - welcome to you, brother. Short of that, nothing of import has happened so now we are just waiting on Semper and his weekly update so that some number crunching can be done and we can see where things stand. Here's the daily:

  • Pledged total: 75,325 points
  • Completed total: 5,097 points
  • Vows completed: 6

Good news! We're officially over three quarters of the way to our totally-not-arbitrary milestone. Can we get there with our first round of vows?

@Captain Semper - well, with that offer and some encouragement from the chaps here, how could I refuse?! I didn't realise I got a little cheeky bonus for going to the full 3k. I didn't realise my Moritat was overcosted, he was up at 130pts when he should be 125pts. I've amended that and added in a 115pts Librarian to my pledge.

My first 20-man squad is done now, just painting the bases and adding the finishing touches to the Boltguns

I Bennyblanko, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete..

First Captain Ezekyle Abaddon - 215 pts.

1 Contemptor Dreadnought with twin Plasma Blaster Claws - 205 pts

5 man Reavers attack squad - 172

- 2 chain axes, 1 power axe, 1 plasma gun, artificer armor

From the Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes Crusade Army List and Isstvan Campaign Legions Books (FW), of total value 592 pts on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to the Warmaster's Legion and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the end of the year..

So I found some models that could be turned over to the cause and I have a weekend of of free time do to an injured ankle (damn Soccer) and I getting my airbrush.

For the Lord of Iron and the Night Haunter! http://forums.relicnews.com/images/avatars/DoWFan/NightLords.jpghttp://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130109205121/warhammer40k/images/8/8c/Iron_Warriors_Pre-Heresy_Livery.jpg

I That One Marshal rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete

1 Chaplain consul with plasma pistol, melta bomb, artifcifer armor, refractor field, and power maul. He will be named after a frater on this board that helped inspire me to do the Horus heresy.

1 5 man recon squad with cameleoeline, and 4 sniper rifles

1 7 man squad of scouts with ccws

2 man squads with bolters

1 predator with predator cannon, twin linked bolter, and lascannon sponsons.

From Horus Heresy Legione Astartes crusade army list of total value 855 points on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to the Iron Warriors and Night lords and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end!

And an oath of moment. If I fail Imust change my name to that failed neophyte and must paint a company of Ultramarines, my most hated chapter.

P.S: I'll have pics in the morning. I'm too tired and bad lighting for photos.

Before I start, I apologise for the size of the post. Hopefully it has the information you wish to see (if not let me know).

Here we are brothers and sister - the weekly update. This takes quite a bit of fiddly work so I think there will come a point where I'm going to curse myself for setting on this path but what is done is done. The numbers should be easily digestible but I would like to hear what you think - is there anything that can be improved?

So we’ve had five completions at this early stage, per the weekly update. While this may seem a good score for now, these accomplishments are outliers, rather than the trend. These may very well be the pack leaders and the front runners but the meat and potatoes of our effort will come later. Our vanguard does us proud – it will be the main host that is going to make or break us.

Of course, it’s not just points that we win on this year: We also need to take completion rates into account. Being in the lead certainly does help a lot as it gives us a larger margin for error than any other forum. However, because our completed vows will be modified by the percentage of vow points completed it is in everyone’s best interests to not overextend ourselves. Having a lead does us no good if our completion rate is lacklustre. We’ve got to post up a competitive completion rate if are to use our points lead effectively.

But enough waffle. On with the pretty numbers:

* Number not calculated on Week One's chart

** Number resulting from an oversight in Week One's update and should not be considered a true minus figure.

Right then. What do these numbers tell us? Well, for a start, we have extended our lead. We also still lead the number of vows given and the number of participants by a comfortable margin. Granted, the Chaos subforum has shortened the gap by two members but at that rate they'll never catch us in a month of Sundays. Give yourselves a suitable reward on this pleasant fact (chocolate will do). happy.png

We also still lead the amount of completed points, no problems there, although we are seeing the other subforums gather speed. This is to be expected, of course, seeing as we are moving through week two and into week three of the ETL. However, with our heavy reliance on points pledged, this means that our completion rate will not look competitive compared to the rest of the pack. At least, not yet. Fret not, brothers and sisters - we are still in the recruitment phase, much like I said last week, so this statistic is not as important now as it will be in the closing weeks of the ETL.

What else of note is there? Well, as you can see by the chart, White Scars do exist! And there we thought the last of them had been seen wandering the wastes, never to return. Personally, I'm very happy to see at least some representation for them this year. But, alas, there has been no movement in other subforums since last week. A shame but one that we here in the Horus Heresy forum cannot afford to lament - we must focus on our own duties and see to it that those lackeys of the foul powers (no offence to the rebelling Legions of the Heresy) do not regain their crown.

Also of note is the creation of a completely new badge! That's right, thanks to the actions of Kurama and The Hydra we now have the Badge of the Foreign Legion for members coming from other forums specifically to compete in the ETL. The likes of rolltonotdie and Ilmarinen Hyperion can look forward to this new badge, just for bolstering the ranks already at the walls. I raise my sword to the reinforcements from lands beyond the horizon. Welcome, once again.

And finally, something new - a brief (yet time consuming) run-down on who's where.

Yes, we have a lot of updated content but there are many (including me) who have yet to post up progress. Although technically there only needs to be pictures of the start and the finish, an update reassures the rest of us that things are in hand.

@ Raktra - I suggest you take a look at your initial vow brother and amend it accordingly (add some points at the very least), as I believe Semper hasn't included you because of that yet. However, you are UPDATED as and when your vow is verified.

Notes for Semper:

Also, for some reason Ramell has been missed off of the roster. Currently VOWED with 125 points. Link.

Typo - Phalanx Warden should be Phalanx Warder.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, of course, the daily numbers. This is after the weekly update, so don't expect these numbers to be factored into the rest of this post:

  • Pledged total: 76,722 points
  • Completed total: 8,032 points
  • Vows completed: 7

Addendum - In my last update, I included Brother Dallo's vow in the Completed total in addition to the pledged total. This has now been rectified in this update and I'd like to apologise for the mistake.

Any mistake or oversights, please let me know. smile.png

Ok let's see:

The completion rate of Astra Militarum is correct an it went down w-o-w.

Also the SoB's number of pledged points is correct  - it was incorrect in the first weekly (I typed the GKs number by mistake).

Ramell is in my spreadsheet - so the numbers stand as they are. I have already fixed the first page. Warder also fixed.

One last thing: Welcome to the ETL and the AoD strategium BennyBlanko and ThatOneMarshal! Apologies for overshadowing your vows, brothers. Every vow is valuable to us, so please don't feel excluded because I did not include you in the weekly update. Also - AO108 continues to astound me. Yet another large vow complete. Well done to you brother.

The amount of effort and detail you guys (Olis, Semper and anyone else that´s working number magic behind the scenes) put into these weekly updates is astounding, fantastic job everyone!

I´ve gotten quite a bit of painting and building done while catching up on some audiobooks, so here´s my finished Heavy flamer squad and some WIP pics of a 20 man tactical squad and a raipier battery. happy.png

I´m really happy with the sergeant for these guys. It didn´t feel right for someone working with fire to have a flammable crest on his head like all my other sergeants, so I went for a pyroclast style mask and red stripe instead. biggrin.png

I have to admit brother twisty that I'm not a salamanders fan. However that pyroclast squad is phenomenal. Keep up the good work!

@olis no problems man. I'll snap picks of them after I'm back from watching age of ultron at the theater.

Progress! I got a suggestion on the pole axes in my WIP thread, so I gave it a try.

I liked it. After a week of pushing through the tedium of cutting the teeth off of nine chain weapons and repositioning them...

Hopefully, these guys will get finished up in the modeling phase relatively quickly now.

Just updated my vow post to include pictures of more of my before models, including stuff with primer.  Although Russ has paint on him, I will be painting over all of that, except maybe the silver unless I am sloppy and hit it with the lighter gray I intend to do the armor in.  I am too lazy to strip it off and worried the humidity will be too high to prime again, so just think of it as a multicolored base coat.
