Still extremely slow going, only managed to get the metallics half done. Think I might bomb out on my batch painting and push to get the Whirlwind, dread and Heavy Support squad done for the weekend. Having to try and production line them is killing my painting mojo and there's still another 3k that needs vowing....

Model is built, everything's glued except the parts I keep off for painting (held on by brass rods or blu-tac in the picture).

I'll let him sit overnight to give the GS and glue time to set completely, and then start painting tomorrow.

Since we're just over halfway through the ETL period, I should have plenty of time to finish painting him, provided I keep my motivation up.

Making progress! Here's my 10-man Autocannon squad. Just the second 20-man Tactical squad's Bolters to paint and then they're done too, but I think I'll finish weathering on the Deathshroud and they'll be done too.

Just posted this update in the Casual thread, but I should probably put it in the official thread too, despite how brilliant grand_master85's boys are by comparison...

My Vow 2 of a 5-man Veteran Squad is so very nearly done, but I'm being hamstrung by base-sellers who aren't shipping me bases yet. It's really annoying, because that's the only thing left. I know I've got the option to ignore basing for now, according to the rules of ETL, but that's outside of its spirit, IMHO, so I'd rather not.

I've started building Vow 3 in the meantime, so stayed tuned. Hopefully my bases will have arrived by the weekend and I can get everything done then.

Well, I'm feeling on a roll here, so finished 6 of my 7 Deathshroud (must glue the other one together plus the one that will be the basis for my Primus Medicae). Took a while longer to do than my regular tactical marines, but I've really enjoyed them (got 10 Grave Wardens to do at some point as well, plus Typhon) and would love to get another 7.

Sure thing bro... The Power Fist is from the Sternguard box, and the Combi-weapon is just one of the ones from the Cataphractii weapons set. Twas the only one I had at the time, but it works!

I come bearing some evidence of progress on my vow. It's been a while since I actually painted a figure in my Crimson Sons paint scheme, so while I airbrushed the start of the faded paint effect on all 9 of the Cats, I'm doing one to completion now to get back into the swing of things. It's not finished yet, but here's a WIP shot.

@ daemonclaw: Good luck with this. I look forward for the reconverted Lorgar - especially as I thought the previous conversion looked fine. :D I also have a particular interest on the jet bikes... So bring it on! 

 

@  Isinfer: I'm afraid vows cannot change in a material way once made. I can turn a blind eye to say an item of wargear, or the loadout of a Character... I could even allow something like an addition of a single marine to a squad, but writing off 235pts in a 600pts vow? Sorry I cannot do that... (That is, if I understood you correctly).

 

@ grand master 85: That is beautiful work! What amazes me is the consistency throughout this vast army. It shows an unparalleled strength of will! Hats off! 

@ StruManChu: ... and that's the reason I love this hobby. The so many different takes on the same theme! Brilliant work - the green is fantastic! Now about the bases: It is commendable that you want to wait for them to arrive but if it's holding you back maybe you should consider leaving them out for now due to force majeure... No one can accuse you for not playing in the spirit - these things happen...
