Here's how the Baneblade was looking a few days ago. Since then she's been masked and I'm on the second coat of highlights for the camo. After that she needs an oil paint pin wash and the details painting and then I can do as little or as much weathering as I like, so I've got plenty of time. I actually mis-judged by a week, I thought I needed her done by the end of this week, not next Friday. There's a heavy bolter missing. It refuses to stay on for long, so I'm going to paint it separately and then glue it on when I'm finished. Maybe with epoxy resin ... or cement, make sure it doesn't keep coming off.

I'll definitely be finished with the Baneblade. The only question now is if I'll fit in a third vow.

With less than a week to go, no. Not worth the risk bud.

I've done it before. I did a last minute Cypher last year and a last minute Marine Captain the year before. The Marine Captain was vowed the evening before the event ended.

I'll see how my time is after the Baneblade and how I feel before I make a decision on another vow though.

Indeed, we've been eagerly awaiting this Baneblade for a while so it'd be a real shame to throw that hard work away with a failed follow up vow! There is about 8 days left, so unless you have a character model or something quick to do I doubt you'll get the time once you've finished your current vow? Unless you've booked a load of time off work or something

I've got Creed, Yarrick and a Lord Commissar undercoated ready. I'd only do one of them though, probably Yarrick. I'm (probably) off work this coming week though, so there is time.

ETL IV - TWELFTH WEEKLY UPDATE

Nice to see two IFOR factions with the best completion rate, but we can't let the Inquisition lay even equal claim to such an honour so I want to see more completions rolling in

Most of the completion rates are hovering roughly at the half way mark, so that could count for a lot if they don't go up much. Our only hope of winning is with a very high completion rate especially with the GK failing to produce any results. Once more it falls to His Hammer to carry the day, as the Imperium's survival rests on us so does the ETL's victory!

In years to come, when your children and grand children ask you "what did you do in the great ETL wars?" what do you want to tell them? Stories of valour, heroism and victory? Or a trite tale of how you were "too busy"? Only by completing your vows can you answer...

Also, looking back at the pictures of the Baneblade, it looks like it's just had a white undercoat. I can assure you all it hasn't - that's actually the final highlight of the sandy colour that forms the base camo, over which green stripes will be added. It just looks white because I was lazy and just put it in front of a window to take the photo, so it's very washed out.

That's good progress Ldorte, but with only a week left you'll need to pull out all the stops! Nobody wants to see the commissariat be sad because people failed their vows, they tend to try and cheer themselves up with executions...

 

In solidarity with those hard at work on their vows and also because said work has inspired me, I will be working on a project today too :) It's always a good day to hobby! :D

My third vow is almost complete. Had some colorblindness issues going on that put me back a day or two. Here is a current WIP from a few days ago. The vow is complete for the most part, I just need to add some dusting and seal them.

 

Toxichobbit, I think I recognize those stowage bags. Might there be some Tamiya bits involved there? The vehicle looks good

So that list is just people who have stuff left to complete right? I have to admit that I've been pretty bored, not having the pressure of completing vows and competing since I finished my 5 before June. 

 

Next Year I think I'll probably be expanding my guard with some more infantry squads for my current platoon, adding a second platoon, more vets, and more tanks. I'll be adding tanks before then as well.

 

On a side note, I have an interview with Hobbytown USA tomorrow (my local plastic crack dealer), so everyone wish me luck. If I get the job, I see more knights and baneblades in my future...
