Cheers :) . They will be sent off to the USA on Monday. I know the commissioner is pleased with how they look in the pictures so I can only hope that he thinks the same when they arrive with him :)

To change tack...

I may have to change direction a little with my army. I have just seen this on the GW site and I am properly stoked about it :) :

I think I have the perfect proxy for a more Squat like Valkyrie... all I need to do is leave a single lascannon off and put the rocket pods on and it is WYSIWYG . I really love the chunkiness of it and I reckon a Squadron of three would make great transport for my assault platoon (once I have removed the Imperial symbols and replaced them with a few runes instead :) ).

More details of the kit here:

... the only downside is that I will run out of FA slots for my rough riders... but I'll still make them so I have an alternative option :)

Death from the sky's supplement

Allows you take 2-3 units of the same kind of flyer as its own detachment

I'm fairly sure if the flyer can carry troops it gets obsec when hovering

I'm sold! :)

I have decided I NEED 3 of these.

So...

Platoon 1 (Cmd squad, 2 infantry squads with heavy weapons, 1 heavy weapon squad) will travel in a Stormlord.

Platoon 2 (Cmd squad, 2 infantry squads with heavy weapons, 1 heavy weapon squad) will travel in a Stormlord.

Platoon 3 (Cmd squad, 2 Infantry squads with special weapons) will travel in these new dropships (counting as Valkyries).

I'll fit the Valkyries in as a separate detachment.

I'll just fit the Stormlords in as... Stormlords :D

Now... I just have to find £300 :D!

So, for the stormlords, best thing to do would be the emperors fury, which is 3 superheavies and an engineseer. 2 stormlords to transport your platoons and a third tank as an escort. I'm fond of the hellhammer myself.

Or you can take the banehammer and keep with a 60" range.

2 stormlords with full sponsons and a banehammer with all sponsons, an engineseer with 2 servo arm and 2 plasma cannon servitors in a Trojan is 1815 points all up.

Just so you're aware of the points investment. You can cheapen it down by leaving the Trojan and servitors out, but not by much.

I don't game so points aren't a problem (I only build armies for the joy of it - but I like having a framework, just in case I want to sell things at some point :o ).

I was thinking of not having any additional sponsons and using the third superheavy to transport the army command squad and engineseer.

It's early days so I haven't thought very much about it... but I am looking forward to putting some big kits together :)

If I were you then, I'd magnetize the sponsons, in fact the whole kit. Which would increase the resale value, since someone might pay more for the use of more of the kit options (especially if they have neither the tools nor the inclination, or even the skill to do it themselves).

I have had a dodgy moment sculpting the Eversor Assassin and he ended up massive (so was shelved)... so I did this instead... I went and finished the veteran Tyranid hunters :) :

I was hoping to start work on the female veterans again, however, I couldn't build up the enthusiasm for it so I have sculpted the second pait of Scout legs, ready for press moulding. Hopefully, I will have 5 pairs of legs by the weekend, ready for putting together the second batch of 5 Scouts...

... but who knows?

...and so the production line starts again. From leg sculpt, to press moulding and finally to being assembled with plastic components from a Mantic Steel Warrior... all that is needed now is the belt buckle, pouches and holsters to be sorted out and these will be finished:

I have another lump of putty in the mould at the moment and that should be ready to remove tomorrow.

I plan on having six squads of five and that means I need to sculpt five different poses of legs to make every squad have no legs the same. I have already finished the first unit of five in one leg pose, this is the second with a third leg sculpt 'on the corks'. Once I have produced six casts from each of the five leg poses, I will mix them into their final units :)...

Then I will have six units of Squat Hearthguard (count as Space Marine Scouts) :) .

They are all finished now:

Lots more information about them can be found on my blog:

Next up... another leg sculpt to complete :) .

I have been putting together a Sgt Telion 'counts as' from one of the leg casts:

With the release of the next big boxed game from GW, I saw the new style plastic termies and had a thought...

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d161/Inso/GW%20Squats/SquatTermie_zpsmntum03f.jpg

... so I have bagged a few off Ebay and await their arrival to see what I can make of them :)

Although they are not Astra Militarum, they are part of my Astra Militarum army, even if they are a Space Marine detachment.

£20 for five (free P&P)... which I thought was fine.

I have been very tempted to buy the whole boxed game but I need to keep focused on my Squats for now... and I find it difficult nowadays to be enthused by humans in space :( (I appear to be completely obsessed with the diminutive races instead).

They have now arrived and I have had a very brief look at the sprues, cut off the components for a torso, checked it against one of my existing leg sculpts and I think that a new set of shorter legs would work. They will need to be considerably more bulky than my existing leg sculpts... but that is to be expected (old legs are scout, new ones need to be termie).

The legs on the sprue are of little use but the torso and arms will be OK.

I reckon I could probably get away with just making new legs and heads (and maybe adding a few decorations to add to the armour).

Something to think about :smile.:

After assembling a torso and putting it next to an existing Exo, there is certainly a good possibility of squeezing some stumpy legs in there :) :
