In another, classic, change of direction, I have been building and converting Exo troopers. These are the most recent ones:

They complete the ten man Exo squad and all of the information and extra pix can be seen here:

Hopefully, if circumstances improve, I will get some work done on the army command squad... I need to get that finished!!!

These are amazing!

Your sculpting is fantastic!!! And a squad army is so retro and cool!!! I love it!

No bikers?

I was thinking about doing a kill team of Squats in exo armour. Using Terminator rules. They would be a squad of this almost extinct race trying to find squat relics.

I was going to use this model as a base.:

I already have one of these for my blood ball team... It's a Very nice model, might be useful to you?

Keep up the fantastic work!

Cheers :)

@Vulpine: I am using the astra Militarum list (mostly) and I've also used up my fast attack slots (2 Armoured Sentinel Sqns and a Rough Rider squad) so I won't be using bikes. I am also sticking to plastic/resin so would have to find bikes that fit or would have to convert them... so it isn't going to happen. The Terminator miniature you linked to (Black Scorpion) is really cool... a squad of them will be the business. Unfortunately, my terminators are already catered for, otherwise I may have been tempted.

@Carraigf: I'm glad you like the mechs... they are Vulkan Battlesuits form Prodos Games and are counting as armoured Sentinels in my army. In fact, I have just spent the evening cleaning and prepping the next three, ready for assembly and converting into the second Sentinel sqn :)

Unfortunately, one of them had two left legs so I have had to contact Prodos to see if they will send the right one... hopefully it will happen but just in case, I have bought another Vulkan from EBay so I will definitely have one to rob from if I need to. If I get the leg and the Vulkan, I may well make a 'character' Sentinel :)

  • 2 weeks later...
So another drought has passed... and I have a nice picture of another finished unit; the second Squadron of armoured Sentinels:

There is more info on my blog:

Cheers :)

I try to make them as seemless as I can but am not always as successful as I would like.

I am now hoping that I can get to grips with the command HQ squad so I can finally start some painting (even I am tiring of staring at an unpainted army).

I have finally started to get some work done on the command squad:

Still lots to go but there are a few little 'bumps' that I need to iron out with the unit before I will be able to finish them. I will be the first to admit that they aren't necessarily the best armed/equipped unit from a gaming perspective... but I don't game so it doesn't concern me too much.

As usual, I have added extra details and other things, in my weekly blog post:

I have now finished the commander:

...and will be moving onto the next member of the squad soon. I have also been working on the second primaris psyker/Beastman Jedi and have been preping some miniatures for paint (amongst other things). There is more information and pictures on my blog here:

Ive seen your work on warseer and have to say this is one amazing log.  I wish that I had your skills in sculpting and converting!  Every model has its own character and personality! Keep up the good work and cant wait to see some paint on that command squad.

The painting has started:

  • 2 months later...
So I saw some female head sprues over at Statuesque miniatures ( http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/ ) and thought that they would look good on a few Squats... so I bought some and fitted one on a Squat body. Initially they were slightly small but I padded out the cheeks and this is what I came up with:

I will be putting together a unit of these and will use them as veterans. Most will have berets :) . I just need to decide on what special/heavy weapons to give them now.

This is the first painted 'official' member of the army to be painted :).

Cheers :)

I have another five (with berets) on the table at the moment. The trouble is, I tried using the plastic arms for them and they just looked so bad that I am going back to the arm sculpting process I have used for the other Squats... so they may take a little while to finish.

The plastic arms are really rubbish when used for two handed weapons :(

The five ladies have wire arms at the moment and will be getting some Green stuff added later :) . I'll get them converted and painted before I move on to the remaining 4 (3 special weapons and 1 comms).

Not something I am proud of (using ACTUAL Lego for conversions...) but I have been mulling something over and it just wouldn't go away :) :

I'm still waiting for 8 wheels to turn up... but every Squat army needs some transport :)
