Currently working on painting a Maulerfiend and bloodletters. Still making the berserkers. First 4 are done.

I've got AoS coming next week and will base the Khorne models the same as these guys (but won't be giving them backpacks, etc). Here's a scale picture of a normal CSM, a giant berserker and a Stormcast fella.

As you can see, these guys are definitely big but they are the chosen of Khorne. Engorged with blood With each life they hack from it's physical cage they gain a portion for themselves as the draw Khorne's focus.

Maulerfiend is done, except for the base.

Ok. Maulerfiend is done. 1st unit of bloodletters almost done. 2nd unit not started (but relatively straight forward). 8 berserkers are made now (which was biggest job). I think I'll do it fine but the soul vow is gone, by a long way.

Okay, my involvement in the ETL has now been completed with the 2nd vow. Now I can focus on the rest of the army. Here are the photos anyway.

Maulerfiend - really like this brute. Kind of wanted the fist smashing into the Rock to make a crater but mis-positioned a bit. Never mind.

Bloodletters - not much to say about these guys really. Just some naked slayers.

And the biggest task in terms of making. The Brazen Butchers. I prefer the ones with the flesh showing (using the wrathmonger bodies) over the armoured ones (knights). I think a big part of that is the proportion is right. The jugger rider heads are too big though. If I ever did another unit I think I'd go this way. Also, the bare flesh makes them stand out a bit more.

Man I love how the Wrathmonger kitbash worked out :)  I'd be thinking about this for a while, and having seen how it turned out for you I'm probably going to pull the trigger a get a set of these coming when I commit some more time to my Daemonkin.   SUPER awesome looking conversions.   People are crazy on Ebay.. you can buy the Khorne half of the Sigmar set for $45 American.. and people are up to $20 for just the 5 blood warriors.  I figure I'll just buy half of a kit next month and use the human sized dudes as cultists, do a kitbash with the big thing and a Hellbrute, kitbash the standard bearer guy and put that standard on my Landraider or something :P

Thanks shred. I have the AoS box. If you want any photos, size comparisons, etc then just let me know.

Here's is what I have together so far.

What's next? Well, first I need to straighten up my work desk. It's a bit of a mess and it stunts progress. But I have at least 3 chaos spawn to be made from juggernauts, minotaurs and spawn bits. Then I'm going to make some cultists out of Beastmen (not sure if ungors or Gors, thinking ungors in the main with Gors carrying flamers). Finally have a squad of chaos space marines.

Yeah, it's nice seeing them all together. Now I have a little bit of a quandary. Size differences.

So I'm thinking of using the marauders from AoS as cultists. But they're a bit big. I don't mind their size compared with one of the big berserkers. I don't mind the difference between the CSM and the berserker. But not happy with the cultist being bigger than the CSM. So 2 options (I think).

1) just do it. The marauders are swollen giants, powered by Khorne.

2) don't use the CSM. Perhaps do another squad of berserkers.

I say go for it.  They will have all probably undergone radical stim-treatments to make them into mindless murdering savages bloated with power and the lust for unending gore.  Just sayin.   I'm planning on using those dudes straight up as Khorne cultists, no doubt.  Standard cultists are boring as hell to paint and in my opinion look more like something out of The Road Warrior and not so much 40k.  I have a big pile of them too.. oh well.

I like the idea of dropping the base down. He'll also be on 32mm base and they'll be on 25mm (I believe there is also a height difference). I was also considering using my Beastmen but the Gors are huge. So the plan was to have ungors in the whole with the odd Gors to carry heavy/special weapons and the odd 2 handed weapon. But when we look at the sizes even the ungors look big. So are the CSM just small? I added a couple of my FW HH marines to the usual suspect lineup and they do look bigger. But they have about a 1mm of stuff on their bases and the pads make a big difference. Does anyone know if the CSM box is smaller than normal marines? I have the blood angles out of one of those box sets I can use to mix to make them bigger (if they're bigger). So I think I'll spend today working on cultists, both types and see what we get. I'll pin the legs into the cork so that I can trim down the bases if needed.

Well I changed my mind and decided to just 40k the marauders, with the standard bases. I just won't run any CSM without making them bigger in some way. Here's the first 10. Then second lot are the same models so I'll have to do a bit more work on them.

Cheers. We are the Bloodgorged. I must admit, I was really unsure of the paint scheme when I first started. When it's just the basecoats you can hardly see any difference between the brass and the steel. But with a few washes it looks good.

As this is supposed to be a WIP, I'll post some WIP pictures of my first cultist. Here he is with just the base coats on.

Bit of washing or next layer

And done. I hate doing skin but happy with the way this has come out (thanks to someone's suggestion during the ETL)
