Title: The Noble House of Baux, Defenders of Corvallis, Sovereign Liege of Terra, Bearers of The Oath

Household Status: Lesser House

Fiefdom: Corvallis IV

Colors: Orange and Bone

Motto: “In peace; loyalty. In war; vengeance.”

Armed Forces: Notable detachment of Skitarrii pattern indentured infantry

Allied Forces: The Guardian Consuls chapter of the Adeptus Astartes

Allegiance: The Imperium of Man

History:

House archives indicate that Corvallis IV was settled in late M19. Being far to the galactic North East House Baux was tasked with setting up a functional agriworld in order to provide food to neighboring colonies dedicated to manufacturing finished goods. Though records from that early on are spotty at best, all evidence indicates that the Baux family relished the opportunity to serve humanity in the role of steward of the common good.

Records dating from the age of strife and on are limited. Most are believed lost in the destruction of the Library of Baux during a daring Xenos raid in M31.

The Corvallis system was left isolated from the Imperium at large due to severe warp storms. When the storms abated in M34, Hause Baux rejoined the Imperium of Man as loyal servants of the Emperor of Mankind.

Corvallis IV:

Corvallis IV is a verdant agriworld with a hive moon in orbit. Evidence suggests that prior to Imperial colonization, the planet had a wide variety of climate zones. Currently, the majority of the planet can be classified as temperate rain forest. The southern continent features less temperate climes, but is mild enough to allow production of fruit and other warm weather crops.

The hive moon orbiting Corvallis IV operates several large manufactorums that produce armaments for export to the wider Imperium. As a population control measure, the elderly, infirm, mentally unstable, and any convicted criminal are inducted into the indentured infantry of House Baux. The indentured infantry are augmented with Skitarrii pattern cybernetics and placed into the Skitarrii regiments which House Baux uses to bolster their war tithe to the Imperium.

Notable features:

House Baux encompasses several family lineages. When a noble child is born they are allowed to stay with their family until they reach the age of 8 years old. Upon their 8th birthday children of both genders are removed from their family and enrolled into the Academy of War. While enrolled there the children are given a classical education in arts and letters alongside their martial training. Not all children enrolled into the Academy become Knight pilots. Indeed, very few in fact pass the required tests in order to earn such an honor. Those that fail become the ruling caste of the labor force, while it can be considered a life of luxury, the high output standards of the Imperium require the nobility to leverage their training from the Academy to meet their quotas.

Those that are selected to become a pilot are granted the honored title of either Sir or Dame, and the head of their family line will arrange the marriage to their consort.

Notable conflicts:

  • House Baux's most notable conflict was during the First Ghoul War where they lent their aid in the fight against the forces of Chaos.
  • Most of House Baux's combat actions have been associated as an allied force to the Guardian Consuls chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.

Notable Knights:

  • Sir George: One of the oldest Knights in the service of House Baux. Sir George's first campaign was the First Ghoul War where he gained distinction for rushing to the aid of an Imperial Guard regiment that was pinned down by a large squadron of Chaos armored vehicles. During this daring solo action Sir George destroyed 3 Defilers, and 4 Maulerfiends in close combat.
  • Dame Kestrel: Dame Kestrel is one of the few women to successfully complete the trials to become a Knight pilot. In her time as a pilot she has become noted for her tactical acumen, and as a skilled tank hunter. She comes from a family with very limited land holdings, and as a result has had to become an expert in the field maintenance of Knight armor.
  • Sir Edmund: Sir Edmund is the son of Sir George, and has recently completed his trials and is serving under her father. Eager to gain glory and fame, Sir Edmund has a tendency to allow his hot temper to define his decisions in combat.
