Hey Ho :) Me again :) Just starting to like this forum here. Good decisionto create an account. Thought you may like to see my character and your primarch in a pretty good artwork i commissioned once.

It´s all for my space wolves fanfiction, loaded up the first three translated chapters to the fiction forum here :)

It´s about my own char i have created, the biological daughter of russ. for me theres enough space in the canon to bring up own ideas etc.

Aska Kjelu Russ Daughter of Leman Russ, Primarch of the Vlka Fenryka and Ari Karen, High Priestess of Tavia.

In many Sagas you hear of the wondrous power of the daughter of the Wolf King. It's said she possesses strange healing powers and senses as acute as those of her brothers. She grew up in the corridors of the great Aett, raised by her parents, her brothers and her wolf-cousins.

I´m working on all this since eight long years, still can remember how "poor"the beginning and the first steps where. During this time the whole story had been created. Also made a model once from her, but thanks to the foundation spray all time, effort and conversion stuff etc was ruined -.- i was so mad on that day. now i need to wait for my FW order to make the next try to build aska as model

Also writing rules for her to use her in games with friends.

In this story I will bring Russ back to us, first his daughter will appear again, join the Blackmanes Company in the end, and Blackmane himself will be a good companion for her. (Thought here about the books, badboy ragnar flirts with the girl from his tribe book one and the other time with the navigator from house belisiarus) :)

I hope it was okay to post it here and show you this. I just like to inspire others and bring up own ideas. Hope also the story stuff is welcome to you. I´m curious about the thinkings of my wolf brothers. hope i got everythings fine in english here, not my native language.

As end for this post, i have a little Dramatis Personae for you. I hope you like it.

985 M30: Aska Kjelu Russ was born at midnight of the winter solstice on Fenris, beneath the light of a full moon. From an early age, it became clear that she had inherited more from her father than her mother; her wild and boisterous nature was apparent to all who encountered her. As a child she brawled everyone and feared no one. Again and again the halls of the Aett echoed with Russ's praise of his daughter.

999 M30: Aska requests Leman Russ for permission to fight alongside him and her brothers to serve the Allfather. There are no exceptions made for her and she endures the same hard tests as all aspirants of the Wolves. As expected she overcomes these trials without problems. In her last test she was attacked by a legendary white Fenrisian Wolf: Vargnara, Full Moon's Huntress and sister of Narghar, New Moon's Huntress. Aska fought and killed Vargnara with her own hands and a spear carved out of wood. With the fangs of the passed legend she forged an unmatched scythe, which she also named Vargnara in honor of the slain wolf.

004 M31: As Russ made Magnus pay for his treachery on Prospero, Aska and her mother stayed on Tavia to help rebuild the destroyed world. However, the world was invaded by a terrible Slaanesh cult led by a Herald named Uriel, and Aska's mother had no other choice but to sacrifice herself for her daughter because Aska was lured into a trap by a Herald. Aska was forced to watch helplessly while the Herald killed her mother and fled after adorning himself with her skin. He was later rewarded by Slaanesh and ascended to be a Daemon Prince.

014 M31: The year of the Emperor's entombing into the holy throne crushed the hope in many and some were overwhelmed from grief. To this day and age some speak in calm moments of the dirge of the young Wolf Princess from Fenris. It resounded into the galaxy and gave comfort. But it also awoke hate and resentment in the rotten hearts of the traitors.

034 M31: Eager for revenge, Aska trailed Uriel the Desecrator, her mother's murderer. She followed the stinking scent of the Daemon Prince to the planet Riskar and joined him in battle. However, when she attacked him in her thirst for revenge, she discovered that she had been tricked - It was not Uriel she'd been trailing, but instead a Daemon Prince of Tzeentch, who then met his fate in her anger. Gravely wounded, she fell into the Red Dream but was saved by Bjorn the Fell-Handed, who managed to recover her body and convey her to the safety of their ship.

058 M31: A Space Hulk full of Chaos Daemons appeared in Imperium Secundus, heading directly for Macragge. To stop the colossus in time Roboute Guilliman had to call for aid from his brother who was only a few systems away with the Hrafnkel. In the enormous battle Aska is separated from her father and her brothers but manages to fight her way into the generator room which feeds the void shields. She is able to overload the massive generators which ultimately leads to the destruction of the hulk in a powerful explosion.

079 M31: In the thick of battle during a Chaos invasion on Ajaxis Secundus Aska spots Uriel. With the help of her brothers she desperately fights her way through waves of cultists and renegades, but her target manages to flee through a warp portal.

+++ "Where there is light there also is darkness, where there is darkness there also is light. There always is a way out of a labyrinth, never forget that, brother!" +++

113 M31: A distress signal turns out to be a trap of the traitor Fulgrim to get Aska as his new plaything. Furious, her father charges the Daemon Primarch and after a long battle puts him to flight. Following is a 5 year long crusade against the Emperor's Children that contributed significantly to their dwindling numbers.

133 M31: A distress beacon signaling a Daemon invasion of Hiveworld Grenna is relayed to the Wolves. The Primarch embarks at once together with Aska, who hopes to again pick up the trail of her nemesis. When the fleet arrives after 3 weeks in the Warp, it becomes clear that the Dark Eldar just wanted to lure the Wolves away from a different world with this cowardly trick. Their revenge was harsh and merciless...

168 M31: The Wolves dispatch to help the Trajan system against an Ork invasion. On the Forgeworld Aska and her father rescue the surrounded Knight Warden Siegfried of a small Knight House and his retinue on the bordering agri-world. Since that day the iron loyalty of the Knight house to the Wolves is unbroken.

211 M31: The year Russ vanished, the words the Wolf King spoke before his mysterious disappearance are widely known. What is not widely known is that he wanted his daughter to stay at the side of Bjorn the Fell-Handed to lead the chapter with him. Russ was hoping Aska would be reasonable and stay with Bjorn but she followed her father and vanished with him. Bjorn told in many Sagas of sorrow how he accuses himself of one thing, an almost unbearable burden. Some say that doesn't have anything to do with Russ but instead with Aska. Until a fateful day, more than ten thousand years later, her disappearance is as mysterious as that of her father.

999 M41: On the former home world of Ari Karen, Aska's mother, a Tzeentch cult is spreading and endangering the rest of the system with dark rituals. Ragnar Blackmane's Great Company is sent to investigate. On Tavia a strange crystal appeared in which a special relic, if you want to call it that, was imprisoned. Aska Kjelu Russ had appeared again, caged in a prison of adamantine crystal. In a heated battle with the Tzeentch cult, they managed to free her from her cage and restore her to her rightful place at Bjorn's side. Now the Chapter is filled with hope that one day soon, Russ will come back to them, too.

And to imagine Russ having a daughter made me chuckle. Read the first chapter and i think your stuff is real nice Aska ^^

Aye, wanted to rework the first chapter a bit in the comming days, pretty proud on the second one in the moment. i had a good run with the testing of askas identity. ;)

I do like when people step away from the standard all male trope for anything related to the Adeptus Astartes. And Russ would likely be a prime candidate for that !

Haha thanks but i haven´t drawn it, that´s what i meaned with commissioned. an atrist friend and me made it XD hoped that was right in english :) if i could draw like this i would be happiest girl alive. i´m just good in colouring stuff or building or writing stuff ><

A very clever way of working round the no-female-space-marines fluff too. Although Astartes are considered to be sterile (or at least totally uninterested) I don't think I've ever read anything that unequivocally stated the same about their gene sires. The biological daughter of a Primarch could very well inherit many of his strengths/abilities, and of any of the Primarchs Russ is undoubtedly the one who would have been 'spreading his wild oats' between campaigns!

Well i change the sterile fact a bit in my fiction. for me wolves are space vikings and a true viking needs to drink, fight and hmmm how do i type this?... make love? ;) XDD  In the story will be some parts where i will discripe some fine fenrisian maiden serving drinks etc to the brothers in the fang or having some fun with them. 

Hmm how do i explain best? In my story it is inofficial allowed to the wolves to have a woman on their side, but theres one thing that must be clear, if you need to sacrifice your own wife or fam to save thousands of sould, guess what´s your duty. even when this would be hard, but they´re not living on a kindergarten. also some wolves in my story have a female at her side, knowing that when they go to war, they won´t see her ever again, may they´ll be away for a millenia. so this is something each character has to decide by hisself. 

Aska is a bit diffrent, as Russ daughter she lives much longer than a human, can take more injuries and has more power and strenght. (personally I´m a so huge Ragnar fan that I´m going to couple her with him later :3 ) 

 

So Askas Mother was a high priestress from a world i have created by my own. she did not inherited all from her father, of course she got his strenght etc. her optical look-like is definatly comming from her mom. I mean it may would look a bit strange if she would have russ size and face ><

Awww thank you :) Hahah Flint13 i always wanted to have such a hair bymyself i coloured my own years long white till they all broke >< now i cannot colour them anymore and need to wear a wig when i want such a style :( :'( so mean.  The white hair in the story comes from her mother, the folks from tavia usually had white or silver hair. one of the folks features.

I builded such wonderful sentences in german and the hardest part is to bring the same atmosphere in english in the end. but for luck i have some friends in Uk and australia who help out when i#m not sure about the correction XD

We've had several folks on here try to bring women into their armies (usually by allying Sisters of Battle, adding green stuff pelts, and painting them in the style of Space Wolves, and calling them shieldmaidens). That's something I've thought about doing.

 

I'm of similar mind, that Space Marines are fully functional biologically. After all, one has no greater thing under the sun, than to eat, drink, and be merry. Warriors, since the days of old have always enjoyed feasting and carousing, and enjoying the company of women. Given that the Space Wolves culture is derived from that of the Vikings (through Fenris and whatnot), it makes sense to me that they would. It also makes sense to me, that they'd have to, or the population of Fenris would start to lack enough biological diversity to sustain itself. 

 

I'll admit, I didn't get a chance to read your story (yet), but just the concept is cool. My Wolves and my Imperial Guard are all on their own program (My Wolves had to be exiled from Fenris, due to genetic mutation from time in the warp, My guard fight for humanity, and remember the Imperial Truth, but practice ancient traditions).

Yipp the shieldmaiden idea is not from yesterday, think it became a "boom" with the webcomic wolf & sister. doubt you know it ;) 

but cause of this idea came that often, and like i said i wanna make own ones, i had the plan to let aska lead "shieldmaiden" in the end maybe. but this is still the melody of future. Not that the woman of fenris will be modded in genetic way, the most fierce and stubborn women may get picked up by aska to join her side. I think i´ll call them "Askas Valkyries" sounds good to me. cause a shieldmaiden is more "human-like" a valkyrie ever had been fighting on the gods sides. 

 

first steps will be comming home, fitting the bounds between her new pack etc, having the first "adventures or battles", coupling her and ragnar *cough cough* and bringing russ back! ;) also translating chapter three currently, may i can load it up in a few days :3 aska will meet her closest confidant after tenthousand years she slept closed in her cyrstal prison. may you can guess who her best friend was as she was with russ all this time ago ;)

that will be book 1 so far, but book 2 is already planed together with a friend who made his own char, too. he created raziel the son of kurze for this. :)

I'm a big fan of the shock white hair too! (See my avatar :D ) but I could never pull it off since my skin is so fair. I will admit I have tried dozens of other colors though. I don't think my hair has been its natural color since I was 14 years old or so ^_^

 

Do we get more of a backstory about her mother at all? I'm kinda curious about her now since it's such a good story and Aska is so adorable!

Thank you. I knwo your pain so hard OMGs. I had my natural hair colour not for 15 years also, all the time tryed to keep them white but than they were so broken that i needed to stop that and made them black again. if i cannot have askas haircolour than i want at least ragnars haircolour. life is mean XD 

 

yes of course. i hope i get explained in english what is not in askas personae now. so her mothers name was ari karen and the rumors say that this woman had the most beautiful voice in the whole galaxy. it also says this was how she made russ himself fall in deepst love to her. the folks of tavia were all very tall/huge. tavia was a world or better said a moon-system surrounding a huge gas giant. also lots of tavian had white hair or paled skin, depends on the area where they lived. 

tavia had been attacked once, a huge invasion of chaos, russ was close enough to come to help out with his legion, but not in time to safe all. so tavia had been almost destroyed. (dont wanna spoiler all now so i make a little cut here) 

aska mother decided to follow russ  who was very pleased about this, i mean he as the king he was had one of the most beautiful women at his side now and was pleased to hear her singing when the rare freetime supposed to let him. 

also her mother was a "kind" of psyker. a special feature from some tavians. they were called the moon or starfolks, the sagas said they had a special connection to those celestial bodies, but this is a bit secretly, will tell more about this during the story. 

 

as aska was born her mother almost died during this heavy birth and as aska came out, she was not screaming or crying like a baby would do. she was silent and did not breath. the power of the primarch was too strong for her little body. in a desperate try aska mother gave all her powers to her, all her energy and praised painfully to the stars to save her daughters life. 

even russ was despearte, cause the mighty wolfking couldn´t do anthing against this. 

but her mother managed it this was, lost all her powers by herself, but aska was able to live now. the biggest present a mother can give i guess. 

 

what happened than is in the dramatis personae :) it was horrible how her mother died, aska needed to watch all without being able to help her. her mother safed her life a second time... sacrifed her own life again, to safe her daughters life.

I actually am familiar with Wolf and Sister, as well as the Space Wolves Blog. Lot's of good stuff over there. Instead of going the SoB route, I went Imperial Guard for my allies, and I'm considering trying to do some ladies to scatter around in my up coming armored force (currently my Imperial Guard are all men, since I'm going for fluff, and Women aren't Stormtroopers). Women in a mechanized infantry platoon, makes a bit more sense fluff wise.

 

The models I want to use for my armored force's infantry is really ambiguous gender wise (FW Death Korps of Krieg, and my own experience, women are hard to distinguish from men when they're wearing fatigues and 45 pounds of kit... Is that a woman, or a really short man...?). Most of my guardsmen are faceless, so some could be women, I just haven't figured that part out...

 

I renamed a bunch of things, most folks around here use the word Skaerl to refer to their guard allies (as their guard often represent the chapter's serfs), I used Vaeringjar, since my Guard are from a different world. I actually renamed everything in my Space Wolves army, to be more Norse, and less Wolf, in fact the only reference to Wolf in my Army is their name, Wylfings (from the Norse Clan in Beowulf). 

 

We actually had a long conversation in the Guard Barracks (Astra Militarum subforum) about the lack of Ladies in the hobby (before it got the melta by the Commissariat). It's good to see some involvement, and diversity. There are also an alarming lack of female characters in WH40K, so this is quite refreshing.

A friend of mine from an RPG group I´m in on FB had an good idea that might inspire you in this case. He wanted to make an imeprial guard female regime that thinks aska is a legend. they fight in her name wanna become as strong as her, knowing this wont be possible of course but fighting in a kind of "For the russdottirs" way :) hope you know what i mean :D  

 

dunno why there are so less female-making options at GW. but like i said, all reasons why i started to make my own "fluff" when i can say it like this. 

yipp the space wolves grey blogspot is pretty famous. still proud that i had been interviewed by them :3 

since this day i had a ton of likes on my fb page, i think it was about 700 so now i´m at 1100 and have a little fanbase... dunno if i can say this, this sounds so arrogant but some people said that it is like it is >< never expected to be fame >< just did that whole time only for me and not to impress others. just had an urge to share my work somehow, sometimes curious about the people.

Absolutely you have! The thing I love about Space Wolves is the Norse/Celtic theme they have, it speaks to my personal tastes, my heritage (I'm Scots on my Dad's side, Frisian/Dutch on my Mother's side), and my personality. I tried playing other space marines, Ultramarines, Black Templars, Dark Angels, Raven Guard, but none of it quite fit as well as the Wolves. I can do shooting, or melee, or combine them in a single list. My gaming group at the time was excited when I picked up Space Wolves, as no one played them, the only Space Marines that were represented were Black Templars, and Dark Angels, one ork player had ultramarines, but he rarely played them. 

 

I'm now sitting at about 10,000 points or so of space wolves, and considering expanding them (a couple more min squads of thunderwolf cavalry, and a wolf lord on thunderwolf mount, and a couple more squads of grey hunters, because I have only 3).

for me only wolves from the beginning on and i never though about another army and i never will play/collect or paint anyhting from other armies. frist TOO big fangirlsm power mode over 40.000! second, I´m norse ;) third, my whole fam is german or norse and we´re all a bunch full of pagans XDD i had no other choice, russ had chosen me XD 

 

well i´m so damn lazy and picky in painting. i surely have more than 10.000 pts wolves but maybe painted about 2700 or so... :/ 

the rest is like i said 50 shades of grey XD 

also doing many conversions. just hate to put models somehow together, looking on every single model that the pose is as cool as possible. .... yeah pickyness..... meeeeh -.-

It's good that you want to take care to make your models come out exactly the way you want them, so keep going. As for my Army, well, I'm a bit lazy too, I just recently painted up about 2500 points of Guard, which sorta helped me out with getting my procedure down for assembly line painting, the problem with my wolves is that the models are so intricate that I don't want to just do tabletop standard. I suppose that's a start though.

I'm throwing a like at your post for your gripe about modelling Aska. It literally takes me -HOURS- to put together a model representing my Wolf Lord Einar because I critique EVERYTHING about it so hard.
