Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Fire Wolf here was my first try to make aska a few years ago. i was proud on it, every single hair was modelled by green stuff and thin wires etc. and than that damned foundation spray ruined everything i will never forget this. when i see the model today i say "okay now you are able to do THIS much more better.... seriously MUCH MORE!" but it does not change the fact it sat hours there just to create aska nd the damn foundation.... arghhhhh dont let me think about this moment i was so pissed. -.- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071594 Share on other sites
Fire Wolf
That? Ruined by foundation!? I would of submitted to the damn curse if I was in your position, they'd have to put me down! Spacefrisian
Finaly more who are making female Spacemarines, iam also stil working on mine although i have them going the route of them pretending to be a battle sister order actually calling them Order of the Shieldmaidens. Back ground for that is basicly the Emperor noticing female warriors when he met Russ and giving it a go, explaining why Russ his legion wasnt as big as others. The Allfather also seeded the idea of female marines not being possible on purpose (like the Nighting gales doing that in Skyrim amongst the thieves guild). Iam using Sisters of Averlorn with Sisters of battle backpacks. (thickness of armour doesnt matter anymore once you have seen how flimsy arteficer power armour on the new Dark Angel Chaplain looks like) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071700 Share on other sites
Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Oh i went to the store and made a trouble believe me. than that guy said from gw "well than you did not shaked the foundation enough!" WHAT?? man i stood there and shaked that damn bottle for about ten minutes, also tested it on paper, it was fine and suddenly tall began to crackle etc -.- arrrghhhh i really wished i had the right to punch him . Nice idea :) like to see them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071702 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Funny that the only GW store i went to actually liked the idea of female Spacewolves, but dunno if that counts as he also said a the Spacewolf flyers looked like Viking Longships, apart from being long i dont see it. BTW: they have a slighlty different colour scheme than Spacewolves, they are inspired by Marvels Valkerie and other Asgard heros. Ulrik_Ironfist
The best primer I have found was Army painter black. I've had GW primers turn dusty, after shaking the primer can for 10 minutes. Though the fang primer worked pretty well, it was too expensive. I have had too many models nearly ruined by crappy primer. Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Ulrik, yeah that was also the last time i used GW foundation. and my last visit in a gw store after the employee was so unfriendly. Spacefrisian sounds cool anyways. well i´m not going to make more female wolves for now, first this will be aska. the army will grow and builded up to my story so when i will be on book 2 and the valkyries come, it´ll be time to make those models. in the meantime i have enought to to with the build of my power armour cosplay/suit. and the company of my beloved jarl blackmane. well, does it sound weird when i say in honest i have the biggest crush ever to this wolflord since over eight years now.... seriously... I just love him so much :3 just a man to dream off :3 <3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071757 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
he also said a the Spacewolf flyers looked like Viking Longships, apart from being long i dont see it. In order to really look right, it needs to have a prow modeled on it. I was going to do that with one of mine, and magnetize the top deck, so I could put my stormrider logan (I magnetized him) on the top. As for modelling a wolf lord, I used my old metal logan, and added a pistol from my thunderwolf cavalry, added a leather pouch, and painted him a bit differently. Ulrik_Ironfist
well, does it sound weird when i say in honest i have the biggest crush ever to this wolflord since over eight years now.... seriously... I just love him so much :3 just a man to dream off :3 <3 Usually Ragnar is a source of rage. He gets all the glory, he overshadows the Great Logan Grimnar in places. And for all this awesomeness in the fluff, on the tabletop he's kinda... meh. The Wolf Lords don't seem to like him either, but that's probably due to the circumstances surrounding his ascension to leadership. Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Yipp totally agree. Thats why i make own ragnar models XD mostly made them for my little dioramas. and well i never would mind his temper or fierceness. may i sound pretty nice here, but believe me, my temper might be higher than russ temper. serious. thats something I´m not proud on to be so heat-minded sometimes >< ewww i don´t what what is fascinating me so much on him, or better said i dunno where i should start :3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071792 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Heh, not bad. I like it when people challenge the established fluff without completely breaking it. Gives one a new perspective on things. Not a fan of the bare midriff, but chivalric code tells me not intervene :D Anyway, keep going while you have the momentum ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071804 Share on other sites
Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Well i think about rare midriff we have a 50-50 % rate of people like it or not. i think this really depends on your own style i am happy about the bare midriff cause in the foam armour you gonna sweat as hell so i still have a cool down option and do not need to build an ventilation inside it hahahha omgs. I never wanted to break the fluff completly, so ... the fluff never said russ cannot have a daughter. so i made one. the fluff never said you are not supposed to create an own world (like askas mothers tavia) .. okay i just changed the fact that wolves can have wife if they want to, wrote something about this before. thats all so far but you all are always welcome to ask me about this. if somethings burning on your tongue, spit it out Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071835 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Not saying that you broke anything. However, you idea is very out-of-the-box, which what I meant with taking a few liberties with established characters by delving into unexplored areas. Do not get me wrong on the midriff. I like to see female skin as much as the next guy, especially if a toned body is involved. However, in terms of practicality the logical side of my brain is telling me that one well aimed shot will be the death of an attractive female, which is tragic indeed. But I accept the cosplay reasoning with the ventilation. Besides, you're going there to look good and not engage in fights to the death (although that depends on where you are going) :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071853 Share on other sites
Aska-Kjelu-Russ
Haha no i dont get cha wrong now worries. I am not mad when people say they just don´t like it or think ti stupid thats totally okay, everybody has an own meaning about this. as long as you do not fight in underwear like in animes i´m mostly fine with everything XD well a friend of mine and me also had an "idea" how to explain aska bare midriff ;) just a quick thought, hope i get this in english, gaian XD ahhh first thing is, aska is very fast, point here a bit to dark eldar which are also fighting mostly not thick armoured and are acting very fast too. so it´s tricky to hit her, also she has this unnormal reflexes like jarl blackmane. second thing and idea is that she has a belt of russ which protects her middle from shoots. hope you know what i mean? T__T ahhh help XD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071872 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
Immersturm, you forget that Invuln saves cover a plethora of sins... As for making one's own world, I did. My world is called Nieflheim, after the mist covered world from Norse mythology, because I envisioned my world as being shrouded in mist and fog a lot, given all of the water features (I'd love to build a section of my world as a gaming table), Fjords, Mountains, lush green valleys, etc. Being a weather forecaster by training, the weather of my world is of utmost interest. I imagine that my world has parts that look much like parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, Afghanistan, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Hawaii, and American Appalachia. Lots of mountains, rivers, oceans, and rainshadow deserts on the leeward side ofarid craggy mountains, and lush green valleys on the windward side. All in all a beautiful place, I think. My world is where my great company came to settle, and it's the home of my guard forces. Aska-Kjelu-Russ
refractor shield generatior that word i´ve serached arrrrgh ><" Ulrik, sound pretty nice to me. Tavia was more a very fantasyful world. if you have played final fantasy 10 you can imagine it a little bit like the macalania forest mixed with bevelle. :) and all this on a moonsystem with the most wonderful landscape... and than chaos came... muahahah XD But thats just her mothers world. i like fenris pretty much as it is. reminds me usually on my home i´m born in. that was in Rensjön, Kiruna, Norbottens Län, Sweden :) you should have a look to the area, discripes what you´ve written a bit. yeah forget about logic here please....Immersturm Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071888 Share on other sites
Vykryl
Bare skin by a protective energy field is far better than most of our troops going into battle with bare heads ;) I like your character and story, fun and different. What model did you use as a base for Aska? I'm basing my Great Company on the book Röd Orm and have 5 female characters from the story to model at some point. Time to look for ideas for the women that keep the warriors in line. Ulrik_Ironfist
I remember trips to the Smokey mountains when I was a kid, with great fondness, and I really only got to study Aghanistan, the pictures I saw were breathtaking. The pictures of Scotland that my parent took on their Anniversary were amazing as well. Chaos too visited my world, and all they really managed to do was smash up the Knight house (the tragedy of House Volsung) there, before getting the snot kicked out of them by the locals, not just the Guard, all of the locals (every citizen there is a soldier in the PDF, whether active or reserve), you can find my lore on my guardsmen and wolves in the links in my signature. I have much work to do on my wolves, as my Guard have become my priority (I was born to be a Guard Player). Oh teh very best model is the single blister with the dark elves mage. you knwo which one i mean? pretty cheap, i go this blister a few times here for aska conversions. also i like that she has one bare hand, good to be used for everything :) Ulrik, If not chaos earlier or later orcs or nids would have come. in these grim dark times peace is an imagination... or liek we all know... there´s only war :D thanks, yeah I#m proud on my home-area. now i´m living in those two countries, half a year here, half a year there. will read your stuff soon for sure :) just busy right now with the translation of chapter three from my own story. i have a release date fixed :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071908 Share on other sites
Vykryl
I can find it with that information. Was looking at the Dark Elf line all ready as the other fantasy females models don't fit what I have in mind. Someday I'd like to visit the British Isles and northern Europe. The pictures I've seen of the terrain is beautiful. Haven't found any place that compares to the redwoods forests I grew up in :) I've yet to see an Ewok though :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308733-the-daughter-of-russ/page/2/#findComment-4071945 Share on other sites

Ulrik_Ironfist
It's not going anywhere.
