Hello, great Synod of CHOOM. I'm new here and I need a hand for some Choom weaponry.

I'm using the LoW boxout in the Mechanicum book to build myself a counts-as Admech Manta. I want to do some homebrew rules for it as well, though, and I'm using two Volkite Carronades for the Heavy Railguns, since I can get them easily enough and they look awesome. What would make sense for a Superheavy Flyer Volkite weapon? The angle's wrong for a beam, and as it's going to cost the same and be squishier than a Manta I was going to give it bigger guns. Some kind of big flamer template?

Same profile as the Glaive, but instead of a Beam, it's Heavy 6 Twin-linked?

Possibly, although that would more suit the Tigershark with it's twin-linked heavy Railgun. Maybe make it small blast, and split the shots into 2x3 so you can Choom two units at once? I envisioned it as a command craft and counter-attack spearhead, so when there's Drop Pod Termies smashing up your landing zone you send this in to toast them and roll on. Reductor Archmagos' personal ride.

Evening all.

This post marks a special occasion for myself as this will be my 1000th post on Bolter and Chainsword, so I thought it was worth doing something a little bit special. And who better to share this occasion with than the esteemed members of the Martian Death Ray Club?

Like many of you, I purchased the first issue of the new White Dwarf, and as I'm sure many of you did, I toyed with converting the free Slaughterpriest into something 30k related.

I was inspired by KrautScientist's Angron conversions using Slaughterpriests as the base models. (If you haven't seen them already, check them out.) I wanted to make a kit bash primarch, but didn't want to make an Angron. I struggled to think of what other primarch would go into battle without full armour. The answer was of course, the choom-iest of primarchs, Fulgrim. Luckily I had Fulgrim's head and sword left over from a conversion making a helmeted Fulgrim armed with Fireblade.

Here is a very WIP post Isstvan Fulgrim. I imagine this is how he would look if a boarding action was launched on his flagship, leaving him no time to don his full armour.

As I've said, he is a work in process. He's currently mostly held together with blu tack, so the pose isn't fixed. His arms are from the Ork range. I plan to replace the orky hands with something a bit more human, but have been struggling to find something that is the correct scale in my bitzbox. I've tried all of the "big handed models" I can think of, so mainly catachans and old warhammer empire models. The closest I have got is the gloves on the Khorne Berserkers, but the finger sculpting leaves a lot to be desired. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

There is still a lot to be done, like removing the chaos star from the back tabard, sourcing something to replace the front tabard, not to mention the base, but I'm pretty happy with the overall concept. What do people think?

C+C welcome.

Dallo

Choom? Choom.

Absolutely.

Is it just me or do those conversions remind me of the DOOM marine?

It's not just you. Now they just need a heavy weapon, the BFG9000 (Volkite Culverin?)

Does that make us look old? I'm pretty sure after doom 3 the marine never looked like that again.

I recently found myself on the wrong side of 30 and as such purposely wanted to model my marines on the classic '93 cover box.  :happy.:

A small diddy for the army I wrote on the back of a napkin while in a meeting:

I’m knee deep in the dead

Slogging through all this bloodshed

My eyes open in awe

Gazing upon a UAC surplus chainsaw

I’m filled with bloodthirsty glee

For it’s time for a killing spree

A sweet gore soaked treat

Time to find some meat

They are made up of a bunch of different parts.  Hilariously I think it would be cheaper to buy the real models from Forge World lol.  However it is all about style with this army.

They are made up as follows:

Scout leg

Cadian Torso

Mad Robot rolled sleeved arms

Pig Iron Production Heavy Trooper visor head

FW Space Marine Legion Volkite Charger (for the CHOOOOM and wysiwyg)
