Aeternus
I have to wonder. With the eventual move of 30k to 8th, and the new profiles for all vehicles, if our beloved volkite kept the same deflegrate rules could this herald a new age of increased anti-vehicle choom, what with additional wounds being caused to dreads and other tanks? Anti vehicle culverin squad here I come... Charlo
Who knows... Maybe there will be a "flammable" keyword where those units take even MORE deflag damage? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/75/#findComment-4727520 Share on other sites
Olis
Maybe something involving a D3? I don't know where this could go seeing as I am unfamiliar with the related ruleset from 40k's sister game. 'Flammable', as proposed, might be pretty cool. helterskelter
There is a weapon in the overlord arsenal called a drill cannon and the effect of that is if it causes a wound to the target unit, pick another unit within an inch/3 inches ( away from book but it's definitely one or the other) and it does another d3 mortal wounds on top of the initial wounds. Something similar seems feasible for Volkites deflagarate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/75/#findComment-4728544 Share on other sites
STC Logisengine
If I may Frater, remember that all twinlinked weapons now count as two firing as one, thus a Contemptor with dual choom pushes 16 deathrays hitting on 2+ per round. So too the achilles alpha. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/75/#findComment-4737438 Share on other sites

STC Logisengine
It is, it was tricky as hell but fun, I tried it out as a test-feature for my Mk.II Destroyer squad but decided against it eventually, it just took too much effort and I'm a lazy git :) Forward Assist 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/75/#findComment-4739303 Share on other sites
helterskelter
If anyone here has Netflix, a film was added called BLAME! It's in the Anime style and about 12 minutes in a guy uses a somewhat OP pistol that seems like it could be a decent example of our beloved Martian death ray. It might be in the Imperial Guard book when that comes out (it's got loyal knights/ titans in) or they may save it for Fires of Cyraxus.
