IL X - The Fire Keepers

I doubt the amount of Phosphex in the shells is enough to warrant concern for things like friendly fire or environmental taint, it's probably akin to Hellfire Bolts on steroids, turning dudes into walking, shrieking jack'o'lanterns as they burn from the inside out.

This. These were the rules I wrote for it.

The Peacemaker

This massive side arm fires rounds that ignite targets with the burning death of Phosphex.

Rng:18 Strgth:5 AP:2 Assault:1 Burning Death, Poisoned 3+

Burning Death: Each successful To Hit Roll made with this weapon yields three hits against the target unit instead of one. Units hit by this weapon have their cover save reduced by 1 until the end of the phase. Units charging a unit hit by this weapon may reroll charge distances until the end of the turn.

As for the Mavashelak(sp?) I am firmly in the camp of rules<fluff. Make them cool and we will hammer out effective rules sometime later. The FK are in book 4 I think so we got some time. Edited by Demus Ragnok

OK. So, do we want them to be anti-infantry with just a couple of guys rocking meltas and missile launchers to crack open vehicles and barricades?

That works.

Take two, folks:

+++++

While most of the Legions prized their elite assault companies, Niklaas preferred to use firepower to carry the day in escalades. To this end the Maveshalak were developed from the Legion's heavy weapons specialists. Typically deployed in the storming of an enemy fortress, they tend more towards anti-infantry roles than most heavy support units, wielding assault cannons, heavy flamers and volkite culverins. A handful carry melta and missile weapons to destroy any tanks and barricades that might bar their way.

The power of the Maveshalak is amplified further by the improvements that Niklaas has made to their arsenal, and they are led by Gideon Eshedath, the “Flame Hand”. Eshedath was a follower of Niklaas on Obsailes, and won widespread acclaim for his tactical acumen in the Medusan Compliance. His chosen weapon is one of Niklaas’ masterpieces, a custom-made multi-melta which has been known to melt even stone.

So the majority of each squad will be armed primarily for obliterating infantry, with a couple of guys equipped to crack open tanks and barriers. Maybe one guy with a melee weapon, or they could just run in tandem with an assault squad. What rules would suit them? Edited by bluntblade

  • 3 weeks later...

Did we ever get Niklaas' views on Magnus, except that he's sad about the whole Death of Prospero thing?

So I've had a think on this.

Niklaas is less repulsed by the psy craft of Icarion and Alexandros due to their being diviners. A more internal passive action.

Where as Magnus delved deeply into all aspects of warp craft. This overt use of warp power by Magnus would draw a cold curtain between him and Niklaas. There would be no formal protest or complaining but Niklaas would just flat avoid Magnus and his legion at all costs.

I've been meaning to put some trial rules up in the Rules thread for discussion. Had surgery today and will be in bed for the next couple days so I should have time to put some together.

Battles. If you could do something for Jehu earning his Wave Blade that'd be great.

Fluff blurb from Jehu's rules:

These blades are the work of artificers on the Scion Hospitalier home world of Iona. Jehu received the blade he bears as tribute after leading a campaign alongside a Hospitalier force against Orks in the Oxican Gulf.

I have a draft started for the first compliance the FK fought after Nik took over. I need a third but I haven't had an idea that tickles my fancy.

Given what I've written myself, it'd make sense for the Scions to be quite a small detachment (up to 10,000) led by Captain Galen. Do you have an enemy in mind?

Edit: House Toho might be coming to play

Sweet. Now to think about context. To my knowledge we've had one very tech-heavy WAAAAGH! whom the Bears fought in defence of Aureus. Maybe this could be an attack on an Ork-held orbital or stronghold?

I'm picturing the Maveshalak being used in conjunction with the Triakonta, pinning down pockets of greenskins and wiping them out.

How viable are Knights on an orbital?

If they fall off, they're going to have a rough time with re-entry and/or being helpless in the vacuum of space.
