Forge World Open Day 2015 - news thread

For literally a single day event with no seminars, we've gotten a LOT of stuff out of this.

No plan survives contact with Alan Bligh.

Is anyone else thinking of selling all of their Land Raiders to be replaced with Mastodons? I can't get the image out of my head of a half dozen of these monsters painted in XIV Dragoon heraldry....

Is there any fluff anyone has noticed about the Mastodon? Is it an earlier design, or Late-Crusade? Inquiring minds need to know.

Well, with the Mastodon being a dedicated heavy breaching vehicle (or 'siege corridor' tongue.png ), looks kinda like the ol' Mastiff may be a touch redundant

I'm kinda relieved though, 'cos with the news that my homebrew stuff has FW's attention, looks like I'm gonna have to get back on the illustration wagon bigtime, and one less design on my terrifying list is probably a good thing biggrin.png

Either way, whenever the rules for the Mastadon's AA turret come out, that thing's going straight on a Deimos Rhino hull devil.gif (I have a suspicion it might be the 30k version of the Stalker's Icarus Stormcannons)

Dude.

Awesome stuff and bookmarked for later! But Christ I shouldn't look at Iron Hands - makes me want them :P

Iron Hands? There are other Legions who wear Saturnyne Plate better than those dour machine-huggers....

*snip*

Keep your funny spinal-mounted cannons, I'll stick with my Phosphex Launcher..... devil.gif

*whisper*...but he also has a spine mounted gun :x

Please, for the love of the Emperor, tell me that Eidolon's hair is only part of his head and not sculpted into his chest and armor. With a head swap he could be one of my favorite sculpts ever. I had no idea he had a jump pack, can I find his rules anywhere? I'd also love some close ups, especially that hammer.

So honestly I just don't feel any motivation from this open day, I know it's good news for BA and DA and WS in the next book but I'd rather move forward onto tallaran prospero sarum tharmas etc.

And for more innovative Weapons more Marine killing Marine gear

I was also surprised by the hair on Eidolon, since he was such a hard ass about the III being so rigidly adherent to their perfection ideal... early on, at least. I mean, that shaggy mane ain't to regs, bro.

His head and hammer will make a nice conversion set for a Ravenwing jetbike commander ;)

I really like the realism of his hammer. The prongs on it make sense from a psychs standpoint since all the sloped armor that marines have might glance the hammer away.

Did anyone ever ask if FW is going to make generic Legion carapace for Recon Marines? Also, If they haven't, would they consider using the 2nd Edition Space Wolf Scout Sergeants as a basis? Because the plated lower legs and quilted ballistic cloth looks very 31st Millennium to me, and I've always considered those models the best looking scouts out there.

I emailed FW and asked them this about 3 weeks back. Also asked if they would do an updated mark VI kit for the Legions. They said they would like to but have no plans to do either at the moment.

Aww. Bummer. Ah well, thanks for asking and sharing the response, man. Hmm, maybe if I convert a few and send pics to FW to convince them....

Eh, a canister launcher is not a firearm. Unless T-shirt cannons now need a background check...

Phosphex Soaked T-Shirts are no joke man!

Fling a few my way Hyaenidae, the Death Guard can wear those just fine.

Sure, dude.

Catch.

*Thunk* You get some Phosphex! *Thunk* And you get some Phosphex! *thunkthunkthunk* Everybody gets some Phosphex!!!

Why is everyone screaming?

Other than head number three and the missiles, was there any other Warlord bits on show or were there any concepts?

The only other thing was a plasticard version that they'd obviously used as part of the design process. Not really restring on, despite the fact that it was impressive and accurate to the eventual model.

No worries, I also asked a bunch of questions on RG kits but was basically told they would happen but they couldn't say when, and now I know there working on the Moy Deythan anyway.
