Dewi Sant
It's been a long time bothers, too long in fact. However, i'm sure not too much has change in my time way from the great drinking halls of the fang. Some of the longer in the tooth will remember me, some of the younger Blood Claws and Grey Hunters that have recently joined the Sky Warriors won't. With changes in my life, I now find myself with more time to commit to my hobby, free time that I have sorely missed. My old blog isn't really reflective of the direction of my hobby (If you want to look to my old blog it's here ) so I thought that it's time to start afresh. Now firmly settled on a new content, in a home that we will be in for the next few years at least, and a dedicated hobby area, it is now time to unpack my minis, pick up a paint brush and get some serious work done. I will be building and paining Ragnar's Great Company. I have decided to flow the the Great Company Formation from the codex as a loose guid as to how I will build this force. I do have TWC that are half built, and they will bare the marking of Harald Deathwolf's company (just don't like the idea if Ragnar having TWC in his company) and will probably run them as a Company of the Great Wolf Detachment. I will be posting regular updates of my work and conversions along the way, and I hope you all enjoy my W.I.P/Blog Right, enough rambling on. First off, I give you my conversion of the mighty Ragnar Blackmane. Hope you enjoy. As always C & C is welcome it is the only we that we can improve our hobby. If everyone that looks at a post can spare a few moments to share an idea, or provide some constructive feed back, then there is no reason that the Space Wolves page can't be one of the best on B&C with a strong community base.Lets not forget, we're going to be inundated with those green dress wearing strange uns for a while. Wee Haggis
Hey there, Nice job on the model, did you convert yourself from Space wolf parts? I am just starting out with Space Wolves, after a break from 40k for about 3 years. I am looking to build a Great Company myself, which will be very loose on Ragnar Company, As i plan to put an Iron Wolf Imperial knight in. I look forward to seeing more of you Great Company Cheers Alan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310729-ragnars-great-company-wip-0707-kraken/#findComment-4115078 Share on other sites
Dewi Sant
Thanks Alan, I'm sure you'll be churning out models in no time. A break is good sometimes. I look forwards to seeing your company grow and more importantly your Knight! As for Ragnar, He is converted mostly from current wolf parts and some sculpting. The torso is from Krom Dragongaze, the legs are GS, and parts from the SW kit, the old assault marine kit and the boots are from the original metal Ragnar model, as is the sword with a extended hilt. I wanted to replicate the image on page 26 of the current codex as much as possible as I like the pose and thought it would be a challenge. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Hey, Dewi!! Welcome back!! The Krom model + the new upgrade sprue is really a Ragnar in disguise. Yours looks great!! Dewi Sant
Thank you for the praise brothers, It is good to be back. Hey, Dewi!! Welcome back!!The Krom model + the new upgrade sprue is really a Ragnar in disguise. Yours looks great!! Looking forward to more, brother. What did you use for his top knot, Dewi?? It looks like a chaos bit...End of Line I think the top not was taken from a 40k Ork head, I have a hunt around my bits box and get back to you on that one. The legs on Krom just don't work for me as a Ragnar, I think he should be ever moving forwards looking for his next kill. It was hard work removing his clawed boots intact. I really do miss the old miss the old rules for his combat claws in his boots. I have added a picture of his old rules for those to short in the tooth to remember. In other news, my hobby area was attacked by a Kraken this morning. He managed to kill a KD that I had been keeping for a rainy day and one of the new bits packs. The remains of the attack! The Kraken/Boxer Pup. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310729-ragnars-great-company-wip-0707-kraken/#findComment-4115906 Share on other sites
Valerian
I once had two 'Kraken' pups like that. Don't worry, boxers grow out of the puppy stage in only 8 or 9 years. Dewi Sant
I once had two 'Kraken' pups like that. Don't worry, boxers grow out of the puppy stage in only 8 or 9 years. I've looked after a second boxer pup for 4 days a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure they stopped playing for more than 2 minuets! Great dogs though. Just managed to bag a replacement Krom on eBay pretty cheap and also picked up some old Necromunda Heavy and Bounty hunter back packs. They will come in useful for my Wolf Scouts.
