The Marked Wulf Crusade : 8th Edition Battles

Today I  began working on the first marines for my black templars who will be working with my Space Wolves great Company 

I purchased enough stuff to make my inital skyhammer formation and im waiting on a few things to come through so I can move forward with a combined arms detachment as well as the skyhammer.  In the meantime heres what the first three hours produced.

Thank you very much!   I  didint notice any gaps in the jump packs maybe its cause im using the new kit I  dunno.

Thank  you. Aye , the new kit is pretty nice but ive noticed the newer marine kits reversed the chest and backplate connectors so it requires a bit of cutting to get things to fit well.

No  actually , the wolf lord of my Great Company was sentenced to die at the word of his tribes Gothi when he was a child. This resulted in him killing his brothers  ( who were sent to fetch him)  Then killing his father and the other men who chased him into the woods. ( It was then that he was picked by a wolf priest to be a space wolf )  He distrusts psykers immensely and takes great pleasure in killing them on the battle field. 

 

 

Update Wise  I  think I  am getting sick , I wasant able to breath therefor I wasant really able to sleep last night  so I decided to push forward with my work 

 

The Assault Marines have been primed and Base Coated 

 

The Heavy Crusader Squad was built  ( The heavy weapons and  Sargnts just being finished.  The Bolter Members have been primed and Base Coated

 

Since ill be using my existing drop pods for the  formation  this is pretty much everything built gotta atleast prime and  base coat the  other 10 members of the 2 heavy crusader squads today.  

 

Got an Emperors Champion coming soon  and am  going to build from there into a nice little combined arms for my pure Templar lists.  Thank you all for the encouragement.

I notice your devestators are full 10 man, while your assault squad are 5 man. While legal of course for the formation, I'm going to poke the rationale behind just a bit: why did you do it this way? (economically it makes perfect sense, instead of two more assault kits 1 tactical kit for 10 bolter guys and you're set). I think 5 man assault teams will have a hard time getting stuff done while the devestators could probably do their job. Put differently, the assault marines need the extra bodies more than the devestators, who can still fire their heavy weapons to maximum efficiency. Of course the bolter guys can be used to screen the heavy guys, so i'm not saying they're useless.

 

Regardless I'm looking forward to what you do with them, and once they're done, how you do with them. This is a formation I might plan to field myself in the future

Very nice posing on the Assault marines. I would echo Reinhard's comments on the body counts in each squad.

 

I hope your breathing gets better soon. I went through two bouts of pneumonia in my BnC tenure and that's a pretty tough haul. Take care of yourself and we look forward to your witch burners with great anticipation.

 

Witches keep showing up in our forums as if they are incapable of understanding what motivates us. Between coughing exhalations and the roaring flames, they eventually figure it out.

I just won an auction that has 10  bolt pistol CCW guys with backpacks that I am going to swap from jump packs and fill those squads out as well 

 

I also won two other auctions worth of crusader squads   so I have ...30 more marines to paint and a Pre painted emperors champion coming 

 

As far as filling out the dev squads its mostly because the bolters also count  for forcing the enemy units to go to ground to forfeit overwatch so  the plan is to combat squad out the  heavy weapons guys and the bolter boys have the bolter boys effectively  force one unit into the ground while the heavy weapons team destroys another and so on and so forth but yea  with my recent lucky lots im going to be  filling it out to a full 40 man formation 

 

2 more crusader squads ( that I need pods fer ..... joy ) 

and i will likely convert some Sternguard into honor guard to accompany  the emperors champion in another pod ( that I currently have so I dont ned to buy ) 

 

That will bring me right up there to 1850 ish  and with my 10 thousand points of space wolves and 2500 points of imperial knights  I should have enough to mix my templars in quite effectively .... now ... i need to paint 60 marines ...  

 

But im here now ... so  ZEAL

If I were going to run Skyhammer, I'd also be tempted to go light on the Assault squads if I needed the points. Reason being the Dev's Suppressing fire rule is arguably better than the assault squads assault capabilities.

Small steps today , tried to paint for a bit. 
Im convinced I prefer Gold on the Crosses instead of black , Ill prolly try and get black transfers for the bare shoulderpads though



Noticed yesterday that the Devestator Kit came with two pairs of kneeling legs and I figured I would make the most out of them.

Im trying to keep a  pace of about 5 marines a day , These are the Multi Melta Heavy Crusaders for the  Skyhammer formation 



Ive actually got the bare minimum squads done for the skyhammer but I have 10  bolter wielding devestator marines and anther 10 close combat assault marines coming in on monday so ill likely try ad tackle some of the bolter boys for the heavy crusader squads tomorrow.

 Sorry about the terrible lightning here but its almost midnight and I just wanted to snap  a quick mile marker

So I got my first shipment in today   consisting of my two crusader squads   and a close combat crusader squad that  I quickly added jump packs to  in order to turn them into the other 10 assault marines for the skyhammer formation  filling that formation out to 40 templars.  I  also got the box of stern guard im going to turn into the honor guard  but im waiting on some crusader helmets to show up before I even bother getting started on that box. 


I loved these lots when I saw them cause they were covered in  templar bits  obviously I pulled the jump packs from my space wolves since I wanted to convert some of those models anyway.  I  quickly primed the assault marines in  white since doing shoulderpads around jump packs would have been a real problem  the cruader squads ill prime manually in black though 

So  Now were Waiting on 
1x Drop pod 
1x Tech Marine and Thunderfire Cannon ( THE LEGEND OF TECHMARINE TOBI IS REAL ) 
1x Emperors Champion 
10x Crusader Helms  ( 5 for the Honor Guard ) 

Things we still need to make Pure 1850

BUT WERE BROKE AND MODELS CANNOT BE BOUGHT WITH ZEAL  so it might be a while till we get there.

Didint have a lot of time to work on  stuff unfortunately , but I did get everything primed and 5 of the assault marines base coated. Tomorrow we bang out those 5 base coated assault marines to completion  then  we base coat the next 5 depending on how we feel 

 

 

I decided that the white primer was probably just the better way to go cause im just .... done trying to paint white onto the shoulder pads , lets so how this goes.
