DanforthLaertes
So, after finding this fine forum and digging out my 40K stuff, I have been looking at the various bits I have for my Sisters of Battle. I've pulled out my vehicles and have started consolidating, repairing and so forth. I've got a fair number of Rhinos and Rhino variants, but I also have some spare bits kicking about (specifically, I've got a flamer-turret from the Immolator, and a load of spare vehicle panels etc. as well as some SoB decorative pieces). I rather fancy making a kind of "assault vehicle" - likely a counts-as Immolator - which isn't based on the Rhino chassis. I want to "use up" these spare bits The vision I have is something with a forward-facing exit ramp - like the Land Raider - with the flamer turret mounted far forward. I want it to look fast, with the same kind of boxy aesthetic of the Imperial vehicles. It could even have an amphibious quality to it, if such was a thing. I'm not married to tracks - in fact, some kind of wheels with tires might be fun. What would be ideal for me is a military vehicle kit I can take and convert up - even a toy tank. So, that is what I am looking for - suggestions on design, ideals of real-world military vehicles to look at, and even kits or toys which I can purchase and then start hacking about. Peredyne
Real world examples of vehicles with front facing assault ramps are limited to the marine amphibious assault vehicle (the AAV). The other examples of real world tanks with any sort of assault ramp would be the Israeli Merkava MBT Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311325-looking-to-make-a-sisters-of-battle-assault-vehicle/#findComment-4126155 Share on other sites

DanforthLaertes
DAMN YOU, FORGEWORLD! http://www.inetres.com/gp/military/cv/inf/AAV/AAV_00.jpg That is the AAV? That is pretty sweet . . . I like the idea of something like that just crashing in and disgorging a whole passel of Sisters. Like, ten power-armored amazons with bolters and flamers. They all smoke ... if only for excuse to carry a lighter. Grotsmasha
I did make something similar, HERE, my original intention was to use two back halves of Rhino chassis', but time/finances interfered and i ended up with the hybrid you see there. Doctor Perils
The new Forge World model that you've got further up is a Mastodon, a super-super-heavy Legion vehicle. Of course, nothing's stopping you from making something smaller. If you want a boxy yet fast look, it might be worth-while thinking of some sort of half-track, possibly with the wheel section and "cockpit" at the back (think of the stormfang, with tracks and wheels). Then you can place the Heavy flamer at the front to one side (possibly on a turret that's half outside the vehicle, like the ravenwing land speeder turret), possibly with a kind of fleur-de-lis firing slit on the other side, or even all along the side of the hull... Sorry if this all seems a bit mashed up, I can't really picture how it would look. DanforthLaertes
Now you've got me looking at the gunships and thinking ... "do Sisters fly?" Doctor Perils
Well the Seraphins and saints do... But otherwise I imagine they would get some form of air support. In Soulstorm they had the Lightning, and the Avenger's back story is that it was [re]discovered by Sebastian Thor and his cronies men during the Age of Apostasy, so I wouldn't be surprised by the sisters getting them later. Plus, when you hear "Avenger Bolt Canon", who doesn't think of Battle Sistas ? Peredyne
Huh. That Mastodon vehicle could be easily added to a Sisters army as an assault vehicle. For me, the only thing keeping it from being a perfect Sisters Vehicle is that it has lascannon sponsons instead of heavy bolter sponsons. Although that would give sisters some much-needed lascannon support. I just think the holy trinity of Bolter, Flamer and Melta would suit that vehicle right down to the ground. KRG-23
some closer pics found there : http://heresyandheroes.com/2015/07/05/forge-world-open-day-2015-resin-heaven-warhammer-world/ I also find it a tad too bulky. As previously said, it could be a good inspiration for some crossbreed between a Leman Rus and a Chimera chassis ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311325-looking-to-make-a-sisters-of-battle-assault-vehicle/#findComment-4132251 Share on other sites
