Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
Did FtT have the Primarch of the Legion being unable to discover one of his highest commanders is an AL infiltrator, the moronic chess game for gene-seed, or an Emperor titan magically appearing, completely unknown, on the Primarchs home world? there are degrees of sucking, and you got off lightly. WLK No, we just had our Primarch who was starting to have visions of being killed by Horus, walk into a trap that Horus told him to go to. Because, "Horus would totally never do such a thing". Then once it was done with, telling the only other person with knowledge of the visions, "hey, if you could not tell anyone I'm going to die soon that'd be great". Granted it wasn't Deliverance Lost/Sharrowkyn level bad (which I found borderline Battle For The Abyss bad), but it's also no First Heretic. I do find it interesting though that the Salamanders,IH,and UM are getting so much volume when prior to this series they were all basically non participants in the old Heresy fluff. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
well Horus's betrayal blindsided just about everybody, so that isnt really a point of "suck" for me. It was one of the principal moments of the Heresy, so it was disappointing to be written by Swallow's pen. Atleast FtF didnt bring the magical-ninja-pirate-wizard-unicorn Alpha Legion into a story where they had no place being. It was like Gav saw what Dan did in Legion and said "I can sure make that suck", then proceeded to do so. The RG got crapped on enough at the DS Massacre, the AL were just unnecessary humiliation. I can understand the UM getting a bigger role in the HH novel series, as they were one of (if not) the biggest Legion at that time controlling a substantial amount of space. Simply having them sit on their hands was not acceptable. The Salamanders and Iron Hands are a different beast though. I really hope the IH's stories are done for a bit, because Im tired of reading of their unrelenting quest to find the stupidest ways to die.The Salamanders got Kyme'd, but as they crapped on in 40k I was expecting that. Hopefully whenever Kyme's next scribbling is done and his HH Salamander story is complete, we can get somebody who doesnt require crayon's to write for them. Legionator
Calth has a novel, which is a masterpiece, a full size anthology, some audio dramas and now two different novellas? Isn't it a bit unnecessary? I do think they should be, Ya know, pushing the series forward. But the series has been nothing but going back to past events and writing more, un needed things for the past 2 years now. Sadly, and I hate to say this, the book series is nearly dead, imo at least. The main core of authors seem to be gone and novellas are all that are released Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311924-first-half-2016-releases/page/2/#findComment-4157590 Share on other sites

Though you had actual enemies to fight. the RG got "monopoly gone wild" and getting punked by master trolls. I was going to list off RG characters that sucked, but I cant remember any but the mutants. Thats how much they sucked. the first time my Legion gets an HH novel and Im already trying to forget it. Sviox
Any ideas what novels, especially Horus Heresy ones, are still going to come out this year? Crimson King? Can't find anything about it on Amazon, which is a bad sign considering that these two are already there. Anything else? Phoebus
Not really feeling the marine's face...but I find it odd that this is coming out before the sequel to Pariah I think that's a series that is decidedly more complex than the Beast arc. It affects several of the most beloved characters in the setting, and will understandably strain an author who is already committed to the Heresy, Gaunt's Ghosts, and several non-Black Library products. And that's before we get into what an ambitious storyline Pariah set up! Frankly, I'm wondering if Dan - all respect to him - isn't regretting biting off a little more than he could chew at this point! Sothalor
I honestly wonder if Dan is still committed to any of his ongoing 40K series anymore. I mean, there's no doubting that with the state of affairs in the current pop culture domain, Marvel is the safer and more lucrative option, but... I want my Pariah. And The Warmaster. Please sah, may I have some moah? HeritorA
1) About Abnett - last nail in the BL books schedule being anywhere near 2015-2016 - http://comicbook.com/2015/09/24/dan-abnett-on-titans-hunt/ - Plain and simple. If he will finish The Warmaster anywhere near 2016 it would be something extraordinary. 2) b1soul - forget about 'Penitent' - it will never be written. 3) Beast arises would be 'bad' - because instead of him finishing Warmaster, writing Penitent, Titanicus 2, Interceptor city, 12 comics, Lara Croft etc. etc. - he was tasked to write a SMB novel for a new series 'Beast arises' - which he finished in 6 months. How do you think - it was enough to write a good book??????? What hold do you think BL have over Dan Abnett that he would abandon everything else he could write over a wide spread of universes/publishers to write something he really didn't want to. This new series looks like a major project expanding the timeline where previously there was only a paragraph. The fact that Abnett has written this shows how keen he was to do it. Iirc the last time he wrote the first novel in a new 40k series it was the Horus Heresy. Petitioner's City
Last month Nicola (or Dan) confirmed on twitter that Warmaster is still being worked on (thank the gods)...but I'm not sure if anyone has asked about Penitent, which is sad, because that was a beautiful book & Dan seemed genuinely excited about it in his pre-release youtube interviews :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311924-first-half-2016-releases/page/2/#findComment-4182475 Share on other sites
HeritorA
Petitioner's City yes, he is writing Warmaster still. for 4 years now, lol. It is the most postponed book from BL now in all it's history. Even Amazon has changed publication date for 7 times now, lol. TDF Yeah, which doesnt help people who waits for the continuation of his major storylines for several years now, lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311924-first-half-2016-releases/page/2/#findComment-4182687 Share on other sites
