Brother Argent
One can never forget the binding oaths one swears to the Dark Powers, for they always whisper their malice filled reminders in your ear to gnaw at the very depths of your soul. But the Warp is all times and all places and who are we mortals to set deadlines on the whims of Gods...? Or, I have an article written... its just still in my head.... I dont see myself getting it to keyboard before the deadline but there is the final month of redemption. All I have to do in that month is: Regiment of Guard, Knight House, Inquisitor or two, touch up my Sisters Order and the article on Aletheia and now an article on a Chaos Warband plus whatever the next month is. Khornestar
I operate in the shadows, far from Imperial illumination. Mine are about done for tabletop quality. Over time I'll add detail and improve them. Pretty sure one of my dogs ate one of my marine's arms, though... little stinker. Teetengee
I would love some assistance on my Hoardkeepers, I have finally put up a new version, but I feel that the description of their leader Daedalus lacks subtlety. Also I would love to hear people's thoughts on them since they are a Slaanesh chapter that doesn't involve sex, drugs, or rock and roll. WarriorFish
Slaanesh is more than just sex, drugs and rock and roll - excess comes in many forms and you can't get much more iconic than greed surely? :) It looks ok to me, if you're having trouble writing Daedalus's entry why not come back to him later? You can easily write a basic piece outlining his actions and develop him more, or you might get a different idea entirely. Khornestar
I have honored my vow to the dark master. A unit of Penumbris Shadows in Be'lakor's legion, the Shadowborne: http://i.imgur.com/M2Dk6KLh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/B1ME8Wwh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/CIuEv3Bh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KReu72bh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qahPMXvh.jpg Only had time to make them tabletop quality. Eventually I plan to shade/highlight/weather them, but this is actually the first "fully" painted and based unit I've ever put together. jad4400
I Jad4400 vow to create a Warband or group of Chaos Space Marines by Thursday 17th September 2015 at 1800 hours GMT. This I vow in the name of the Dark Gods! As an added bonus, for those of you who saw my marine chapter idea earlier: The Steel Dragons, this will be the CSM/Warband that nearly killed the Dragons. I'm also using that 1d4 cham warband creation table for random results. As a preview: I made the color scheme after I made the rolls. http://imgur.com/QJbzHhc Roll Results: Chaos Undivided Group High Frequency of Blessing and invocation, a large quid pro quo. Blessings: take the form of Weapons of Chaos: The blessed of the war band have been given much war gear infused with chaos one way or another. This may take form in daemon weapons, artifacts of chaos, blessed/cursed armor, etc. HQ: Asteroid Field High Percentage of Marine with cultist specialists. Recruits from other Chaos Bands and Warbands. Lightning Strike Specialty Sorcerer was a hero to them. Helped lead a strike that took over an imperial battleship, now is the mobile HQ for the group (since they are in the asteroids this works well). With so many chaos space marines in this band, I went ahead and rolled on the chaos space marine table too to get more specifics on the marines in the warband. Space Marines came from an original legion: Iron Warriors Fanatic Chaos Undivided: For the gods above. Corruption Above All-The attitude of the marines in the warband. No rest for wicked mutation something about their mutation makes rest difficult. Flaw (Since they have fanatical devotion) Sanity is for the weak. These marines seem to be lacking in certain common sense and logic. Marine specific champion: Terminator Champion, was killed by another chaos band (womp womp womp wooooomp) Chaos engines are their special weapon (gels well with the marine specification). Well for randoms rolls I somehow got a chaos warband that has some interesting parallels and opposing things going for them that mirror the Steel Dragons. For Iron Warriors though they sure do seem to like themselves some Chaos (considering the Iron Warriors seemed a bit meh on the whole Chaos gods) maybe this group follows the gods more since they got some sweet wargear and swag for their devotion, worth not getting a good night sleep. Considering their seemingly loss of sanity or common sense, there might be a more insidious trade off for all those goodies they get (sad since the Iron Warriors's big shtick is that they don't act like gibbering Chaos fools). More work to come, gotta figure out a name. Grand Master Belial
WIP Thread I am trying to come up with a renegade warband similar to the image from Rogue Trader where a marine is sitting at a bar with his helmet on the table. They are essentially mercenaries for hire. Well they may not have gone over totally to Chaos but they are no longer a friend of the Imperium. Any C&C is greatly appreciated as I feel they are not dark enough. Aqui
Vows updated I haven't been able to get my entry done, and won't have time to do so before the deadline (I don't finish work until 8.30 pm). To reflect this, any one who get theirs in before 9pm (or when I log in, give or take a little) will still have valid entries. There are two challenges left (Loyalist Space Marines and the Age of Heresy), after which there is a "mop up" month where anyone who failed a previous challenge is still able to get a completion badge. More on that soon... Llagos_Tyrant
I'm going to concede that a lot of other commitments have kept me from flushing out the war band I had wanted to write about. However because I have not been idle on the hobby scene I will instead post a snippet from a project I'm working on that involves my war band of Iron Warriors, the 7th Grand Company. The project is a small part rewrite of The Iron Clad (if anyone read that) and a much larger inclusion of that into a completely different and much larger idea. The project is sitting at just over 18,000 words and if it continues apace and according to plans will feature some warbands I brainstormed for this challenge but did not have time to flesh out.Snippet: The ride to the Spirit Breaker was rougher than before the rally order had been conveyed. The outskirts of the Grosskeipt had been a bizarre labyrinth of trenches and fortifications once. Trench lines crossed and turned in a mass of confusing pathways that funneled the enemy into chokepoints and kill zones surrounded by, and lost in the maze. At first the Dark Angels had suffered greatly as they reached the lines manned by thousands of cultists and renegade guardsmen. Those forces had been well trained, well stocked and prepared to fight to the last. They knew the labyrinth and they knew how to force their enemy into vulnerable positions to pick them off. In any other circumstance Captain Tullaris still would have called them a weak challenge for the Angels. However the men were emboldened and coordinated by more than tactical data. The sorcerers of the 7th Grand Company had completely erased their being and controlled regiments themselves. It must have been utterly alien to have controlled so many lives at the same moment, running them as a single unified organism. How the witches had managed to do this was beyond knowledge Oden had ever gleamed. All he knew was that with witch control they shouldn’t have broken when they did. Not mere days into the siege while the labyrinth itself was untested. Instead the Dark Angels had bludgeoned their way through the trenches in a direct path around the carefully planned killing spots of the IVth Legion. The third day dawned and the first rounds were fired from the main battlements, miles behind the front line dug into the earth. It was only after the fighting that all the sorcerers were found dead. Like so much else it seemed impossible to countenance. Too much had gone wrong too quickly. “Tell me, if not the others.” Arean’s voice came to him. He was so lost in thought he didn’t hear the click of the channel opening. Oden looked at him through lenses of fire. “Tell you what?” “Did you expect to run today?” The Captain thought for a moment. Not about his answer – that was clear as his own name – but about whether he should. “Did you?” Arean grunted his disapproval. “Why should I care? We lost a fortress and the Legion loses a manufactorum. I still got to fight.” “That factory was important.” “Not to me. Now, have I earned your answer?” “No, it was unexpected.” Oden admitted after a long pause. “We should have lasted longer than twenty one days.” Outside, the rattle of combi-bolter fire erupted from the Rhino convoy. "Something isn't right." He switched channels. “On the guns Pyrrhus.” “At once.” The sergeant nodded and got to his feet, pulling open the hatch with a quick slide. Back to Arean. “You may have more fighting yet brother.” Pyrrhus stepped up onto the firing post and turned his head across the flanks of the convoy. Oden watched as he sat against the hull and another burst of gunfire erupted from outside. The sergeant spun his head as the bolters barked their lethal rounds and spun the turret to the target. “Contact, 200 meters! Left side!” He said. “What are they?” Arean asked. Mortez glanced at Tullaris. That sound in his voice. Too eager Oden nodded in agreement. “Devastators. Engaging!” Pyrrhus roared over the torrent he unleashed. Bolts fell into the cabin of the transport and rattled off the ground in twisting arcs. Blood splattered from the pool across the floor as they dropped into it. The sergeant finished his first burst and Oden switched to the 4th Line vox channel. “Open up! Longer bursts!” “Reloading!” “Keep them pinned!” He recognized Pyrrhus’ voice as he opened up another volley. The bark of the bolters was incessant, ringing out over the convoy and within the rhinos themselves. “I want alternating fire on them! Three Rhinos fire while three reload! Acknowledge!” Tullaris recognised the voice. It was stern but almost paternal. An absolute rarity in the likes of the 4th Legion. Centurion Ves had long been charged with his Line’s mobile forces. That he directed the gunners now and in their flight from the Grosskeipt was a comfort. If anyone would get them to the Spirit Breaker unmolested it would be him. “Acknowledged!” “Incoming fire!” Oden heard the roar of gushing burst of plasma fired out of the hateful weapons of the Imperium. He could hear the boiling of the semiliquid as it hurtled towards the convoy and the splash it made as it washed over the ground near them. The spray from the miss hissed through the air and Oden heard one of the tanks complain about splash damage. Nothing their armour couldn’t handle. The complaints were dropped when the sudden burst of a lascannon beam burned into the ground near an onrushing tank and another seared past the head of Pyrrhus. Oden saw the Sergeant duck into the rhino. Had it been on target, he would have been too slow. Thank the Primarch it missed. “Return fire!” one of his men yelled, to the answer of bolter fire. “Enemy down!” someone yelled. “Kill confirmed.” Pyrrhus said, coming back out on the turret. He fired another burst. It dragged on longer than normal and Oden could tell from his swivel on the gun that he was raking the surrounding trenches with rounds. Hopefully it did the job. “Enemy down!” Pyrrhus yelled over the gunfire. He laughed at the enemy as the combi-bolter expended its last rounds and he grabbed a drum of ammunition to slap into the weapon. “No kill. Target is wounded.” Centurion Ves said. Pyrrhus’ smile faded and he slammed a fist into the roof of the rhino. Cursing to himself, he slammed the drum into the turret and pulled back on the cocking handle to chamber a round. “Contact lost with the enemy. They’re out of range. Full ahead to the rally point.” Oden would have to commend the Centurion for his work. He had got them through the Angel’s checkpoint. Pyrrhus in his frustration stayed on the turret and scanned the surroundings. Tullaris could imagine the muddy trenches, barbed wire and rotting corpses scattered across them. He had seen it so many times, and always it was the same. It held no interest to him and he waited in silence as they arrived at the Spirit Breaker, the Land Raider that bore the Warsmith. P.S. As I am seeing people write about how there is a month of redemption, I will look at completing a proper article on a war band for then that will focus one of the groups I have so far only brainstormed. Until then and in proper traitor marine fashion, I have broken my vow to the Dark Gods.
