EdT has been doing some really cool diorama's and he did this one for the Thousand Sons... Maybe te weapons here might be suitable?? If you haven't seen his thread I thoroughly recommend taking a look.

"WE JUST GOT A LETTER, WE JUST GOT A LETTERRRR, I WONDER WHO ITS FROM?!?!"

*ahem*

Someone from FW must have noticed my thread because this shipped immediately within 6 hours and got to me in 3 business days. Which is unheard of considering I get standard shipping and I live out in the dead middle of the U.S. I don't think I've gotten expedited shipping with this fast of a turn over :D

Anywho, I also saw a French guy's TS and his Castellax were beautiful:

Needless to say, I'm gonna make some exactly like this. They look effing sweet next to the XVth Legion.

Hmmm I'm happy to see you making headway chief, I'd love to get a tale of X hobbyists going again.

Might help you stick to your legion

Interesting proposition mate...

I plan one of these guys to be my praetor and the other 4 to be basic bolter sluggers so that I can figure out how to do my conversions. I also have ideas for transforming the SoH banner bearer to be modeled as the one in the picture on the first page.

I'm currently trying to convert a mkIII Thunder hammer into a bardiche/two handed Khopesh for my Librarian :) I really wanted to use the half moon two handed axe from the Stygian weapons (Kromlech) but I'm saving money to buy a big batch of FW goodies.

"...Late Crusade Umbra pattern bolters were used by the XVth legion - not overly superfluous like the Maximus pattern or brutal like Phobos - the pragmatic Umbra style fit the Thousand Sons mentality and stuck. The bolter fired the .60 caliber round found in the Maximus, but the weapon itself was resistant to corrosive conditions such as the desert and kicked up dust particulate. The Umbra was also uniquely suited to firing the "modified" bolt rounds artifices by the legion's sorcerers..."

I mixed that sucker with some Triple Sec and some lemonade for a dinner cocktail for the past weekend :P

I'm sorry for the poor pictures and lighting, I did it last night on a spur of the moment kinda deal.

It's hard to notice some of the detail in the loincloths and the little scarab belt buckles I did, so I will repost better pics. I also intend to add the little helmet tuning forks once I figure out a respectable way to make them without losing my mind.

You might want to look into the Tomb Kings range for really interesting bits to complement what you have going. you will get heaps of value out of the Tomb Guard especially.

Awesome stuff so far, keep on truckin'!

Maybe a small headdress like the one on the A Thousand Sons cover would work for the squad leaders? Either way, these are looking fantastic thus far.

Thanks man!

I am actually making something just like that for my Librarian/praetor :)

Edit: stupid mobile posting

Here's the torso/legs that I'm working my praetor on up from:

I'm going to green stuff over part of the chest to make it look more like a scarab :) the wings are less avian than most EC decorations, so they'll work quite well. I also plan to give him a Sorcerors cape similiar to the artwork of Ahriman on the ATS novel.

I also plan to use the "snub nose" mkIV legion helmet (the one without the snout, looks more Sarum pattern) for my praetor and model on with GS/plasticard the helmet tines.

;)

Nice, that is from a Palatine Blade right? Should be fairly easy to de EC it. You could try and paint the TS emblem in the little round bit at the bottom of the torso ;) probably too small. Looking forward to seeing it!

Yup!

...and I swear my ESP is on blast today man, that thought popped into my head too about painting a mini TS symbol in that spot :D

As for naming him, I thought either Archameus/Archimedes (Merlin's Owl from Arthurian legend) or Photep. But I feel that the latter seems to cliche.

More work on the loincloths and some symbols:

"Lost Eye of Magnus"

-> This symbol was oddly found among communication specialists within the XVth legion. Modern hieroglyphists agree that the symbology was a nod toward the XVths Primarch, who communicated with a powerful presence, and traded his eye. However, these professionals cannot agree whether this meant the Emperor himself or yet another darker source...
