This is the (Japan only) Space Marine Heroes Captain (minus backpack with iron halo).

Check out the short muzzle on the helmet.

med_gallery_63428_11269_40854.jpeg

Now, I didn’t want to make him as-is, so I did some kitbashing (and cut down that high gorget)...

med_gallery_63428_11269_113747.jpeg

Helmet from the mk.3-wearing rapier crew from FW.

Right arm and backpack from the Commander box.

Left arm and sword from the Command Squad box.

I have the rest of the Commander bitz, which I may use to put together a less flashy captain (more in line with my Mentors-so-far: tooled up with pouches and rolled up camo sheets), even make his cloak camouflage..and give this captain a backbanner. Make him more of a display piece.

med_gallery_63428_11269_456094.jpeg

And my assault terminators.

The bottom middle one will have his left claw a little higher.

At the moment I’m cleaning up their shoulder pads. All are just blu-tac’ed together at the moment. I’ll spray the bodies and heads green separate from the rest (white). Should save me a lot of time.

With the remains of the Commander box, Space Marine Hero captain backpack and some sternguard and other bitz I decided to put together a second captain. A basic one for buffing (if I game again).

...but also will make the left arm changeable :D the question is: which power fist looks best?

Fist One

med_gallery_63428_11269_314663.jpeg

Fist Two

med_gallery_63428_11269_15420.jpeg

Fist Three - I’m keen on the scroll on the back of the fist

med_gallery_63428_11269_206688.jpeg

Fist Four - I’m not sure if I like the pose or dislike it :D but I do like the detail on the back of the fist.

med_gallery_63428_11269_243439.jpeg

med_gallery_63428_11269_74586.jpeg

If it were me, the overall pose suggests Fist Four is the winner.

Like, "come at me bro".

After that, Fist Three.  As if he is bracing to either get assaulted, or shoot some heresy.

Fist Two looks a little relaxed to me, "ho hum, who to kill next".

Fist One is right out.

Fist four is my first pick, followed by fist three. Fist two is meh. Fist one would only work, maybe, if you either converted it a bit to hang lower or changed the positioning to the fist in the sky pose (maybe).

After their ultrasonic Simple Green bath, fifteen ex-(Heresy-era) Thousand Sons scouts are (going to be) ready to serve in the Mentor Legion...

Seven of ‘em

Why is there a skull on the grapnel? Is it a servo-skull with an integral repulsion plate that allows the Scout to silently deploy the grapnel? Does it also integrate sensors to warn the Scout of sentries on the wall, and stealth systems so these sentries won't see or otherwise detect the grapnel? Edited by Bjorn Firewalker

Yeeeees, why not? :D

Or a trophy from a time he was out of ammo, threw it as a weapon and killed someone. Who knows?

The Imperium puts skulls here, there and everywhere. This scout decided to keep one there :)

I approve! Though I'm curious as to what you used for the cord?

Brass guitar string. It doesn’t show up well in the photos but it’s a tightly wound coil.

At the bidding of master Ran-Thawll, Mentor Legion techmarines go about the ‘recovery’ of a downed flyer of a rival fellow chapter, found most unexpectedly on a remote planet. The pilot was dead. Of great curiosity was the armament of the craft, and the discovery of a chamber within the fuselage, the nature and purpose of which the chapter master tasked the techmarines with the discovery of. It is believed that an individual had resided within the chamber and, perhaps due to the location and strong construction of the chamber, survived the crash and made it out of the wreck.

With no members of the chapter in the system, master Thawll commandeered the craft for the use of the Legion.

I approve of screwing over the Dark Angels, as payback for all the times they screwed over other loyalists. Will you retain the Blacksword missiles, or replace them due to logistical reasons? Edited by Bjorn Firewalker

I’m making it as a Dark Talon (rift cannon and stasis bomb as they’re cool, and I like the idea of all that dakka with the hurricane bolters). That the Mentors would not have replacement blacksword missiles...is another way to look at it :D

But I intend to use the missile bitz on a Chaos dreadnought.

Not a lot to show, but progress on the Dark Talon. It’s the first time I’ve used my airbrush to try to do some kind of OSL and I think it came out okay for a first attempt :)

I plan to get the plane finished this month so i can do my other units in the ETL and vow for this forum this year.

I’ll be back to my Psychopomps for the Call of Chaos!

WIP (just lenses and decals to do) of the techmarine pilot of my Dark Talon.

I’m doing the helmet and left shoulder/arm of specialists (lib, tech, chap) in their respective colour...but didn’t want to put the Mentor eagle head on his right shoulder facing backwards so decided to do his right shoulder as the ‘Mars’ one. Will add ‘MARS’ decal from Knight kit.

med_gallery_63428_11269_614961.jpeg

Bit by bit :)

...The most deadly of these, the rift cannon – also known as the stained-glass cannon – is a weapon that fires a multicoloured beam of oblivion, utterly annihilating its target...

med_gallery_63428_11269_68310.jpeg

Here’s my planned vow for the ETL (assuming conditions don’t change from previous ones):

I Kierdale rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete...

* One squad of assault terminators (3x thunder hammer and storm shield, 2x lightning claws) - 217 pts

* One squad of scouts (camocloaks, 4x sniper, 1x rocket launcher) - 111 pts

* One squad of scouts (combimelta, 4x bolt pistol and knife) - 74 pts

* One squad of scouts (storm bolter, heavy bolter, 3x bolter) - 67 pts

* One squad of scouts (storm bolter, 4x bolter) - 57 pts

* One squad of sternguard (combi plasma x2, 2x special issue bolter, 1x heavy flamer) - 131 pts

* One razorback (twin lascannon, hunter killer missile) - 126 pts

* One captain (power fist) - 89 pts

* One captain (relic blade, plasma pistol) - 102pts

...from Codex: Space Marines of total value 872 points on or before August ??th, 2018. Success will bring eternal glory to the Mentor Legion and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

I’ll probalu do them all as one vow because I’ll be spraying their bits in two big batches (white and green).
