THE BROTHERHOOD OF SLAUGHTER

SUB-CULT OF THE WRATH

The claustrophobic darkness smothered Kaloth and his battle brothers within the Rhino. The air tasted of the rage, anger and frustration of his brothers; familiar senses that tingled within the Marine's mind. Kaloth gritted his teeth, preparing for a potential bloody ruckus between his brothers within the cramped confines, for one or more may succumb to the lust of battle before it had begun, as it had in the past.

"++Contact, 30 seconds...++"

The vox cast broke the silence within the Rhino, and the tension died with it. The eight Marines began to prepare their weapons for the slaughter to begin. The click of bolt pistol clips being checked, and the buzz of chain weapons reverberated within the metal beast. The sounds excited Kaloth. It reminded  him of the feast that would begin. The sweet drought of blood within his gullet, the defiled flesh meeting his mouth, the tearing of muscle with his chain blade; memories of the past that reminded him of his sacred duty to Khorne, the Lord of Battle.

"++Contact, 10 seco..."

Suddenly, a flash of light blinded Kaloth, as he was lifted into the air by a relentless force. The Rhino and his brothers within were incinerated by a beam of pure energy, their souls condemned to the god of war. Kaloth quickly returned to his senses as he began plummeting towards a line of slender, yellow armoured aliens that began firing at him. He roared with pure, unrelenting fury lifting his chainblade, feeling a red mist overcoming his senses as shuriken blades penetrated his armour. As he plummeted into the ranks of the Eldar, a Guardian disintegrated before the marine's sheer mass. As soon as he butchered the Guardian, he set about his bloody task, ripping and tearing into the xenos scum. As the red mist overwhelmed him, his rage was concentrated into one last glutteral cry:

"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!!!!!!!!"

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my new log. I've recently got some more time now to talk about my project with you all. This is the Brotherhood of Slaughter, a sub-sect of The Wrath. Just as twisted as their parent warband, the Brotherhood of Slaughter are little more than power-armoured beasts, pointed by their lords to spill blood, consume flesh and bone, and annihilate all in their path. They worship not just Arbra'Gax, but a plethora of other demi-gods who join them in glorious slaughter. As time goes on, the fluff will be expanded, but at the moment, its a little basic.

So, what's the plan for the force? At the moment, I'm just getting what I want, which is not a lot currently. Mostly due to GW prices and little money to spend on the hobby at the moment. But as time goes on, I will be adding to this force. I want to keep a core of Chaos Astartes and Berserkers, and as the game goes on, there are more daemons than mortals. Just like the fluff. So, as you can see, anything can happen here. I usually play against the blasted Eldar, so I do get my butt kicked quite often, but they're bloody games!

Enough of that you say, where are the piccies?

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/232_zpsp2letan2.jpg

A Chaos Lord of the Brotherhood of Slaughter, Kaloth, the Unbridled Beast, is little more than a mindless savage. In the perils of combat, he usually takes the lead of the Possessed of the warband, destroying all in his path. He cares little for command. His life is to die on the battlefield, axe in hand, screaming his glutteral praises to Khorne with his last breath.

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/233_zpssaljpr1p.jpg

The Beasts of Annihilation are a group of cursed individuals within the Brotherhood of Slaughter. They live only to kill, willing to prematurely end their lives by letting the daemon within consume them. The taste of power they have is overwhelming, yet it is not to last. The ranks of these barbarians have a high turnover, yet there are always those who are willing to sacrifice all to enhance their capacity for bloodshed.

So, these are the finished ones. I have some WIPS as you can see below:

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/234_zpsiuvclwi6.jpg

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/235_zpsqyobg80s.jpg

I also have a FW World Eaters Dread and some OOP Metal Bloodletters and an OOP Metal 'Thirster. So I have a bit to keep me going, although I do know that I will be getting more. I enjoy playing this army, and I want to always improve the fluff. speaking of which, I have more...

The Marine stood amidst the corpses of the fallen, covered in the crimson gore. His butchery was over. Scanning the faces of those he slew, the white, blank eyes of the fallen bored into his mind. This did not phase the fearless Marine, relinquishing his victory in silence, as his handiwork spoke for him and his praise for his god. However, this peace was broken by a familiar sound.

The voice.

It consumed at the mind of the Marine. It whispered dark and terrible things, of blood, glory and death, all at an unimaginable scale for the sane. The marine clawed at his helmet, the scratching of metal causing the white, powdered bone to reveal the metal beneath. He fell to his knees, looking at the corpse of a poor soul, once a man, now a bloody ruin.

The sanity of the Marine began to fight this voice, the last vestige of his humanity. Yet, the beast inside was winning. The madness was overbearing, this unnatural thirst for bloodshed; this alien rage within, consuming the last of his sanity. The Marine threw of his helmet, revealing the distressed emotion featured on his face. Cold sweat dropped from his face as he fought the beast inside, drinking the image of the butchered guardsman.

Yet, it was over as soon as the battle begun. A crimson mist fell over his mind, revealing a rictus smile; his body shaking. Wide eyes looked upon the corpse. The daemon within wanted his fill of blood. The Marine could not, and would not disappoint. In the blink of an eye, the Marine tore at the corpse, eating, ripping and tearing at the offal and flesh. Gore sprayed over the Marine’s ravaged armour, but he did care not. Khorne did care not. The enemy could not just be destroyed. Total annihilation of mind, body and soul was the only option. The beast within roared at the red sky above, speaking in a tongue forbidden to be spoken by man. Victory was near over this mortal soul.

It was close to freedom from this prison of flesh and bone

Will update soon!

I'm liking what I see so far especially the Chaos Lord, Never would have imagined the Wrath colour scheme would work so well with that model.

Looking forward to your future endeavours.

I love the Axelord model :)  I haven't quite finished mine, but I definitely like how the colors turned out on yours.  I really like all the paint jobs so far TBH, I really like the possessed.  They are such a hard model for me to commit to painting.  I've started and re-primed my squad of 5 (slaughtercult taxers) at least 3 separate times.   Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the feedback and compliments guys, they're much appreciated!

Here is my Call of Chaos vow that I plan to complete. I haven't painted for a while due to being lazy/work/job applications, so I'm going to take a break from power armour and paint some daemons!

I will try and do more updates from now on, I have been bad recently!

Glorious Combat.

Garograth sunk his chainaxe into another hapless Ork, the diamond sharp teeth cutting the xenos scum into two. The Beserker then  swiftly dodged a clumsy swing to his head with the supernatural speed blessed upon him by the Butcher's Nails. They sang as he cut his oppressors' leg off with a sweeping blow, then arcing the brutal weapon down to finish off the Ork in a gory style. The Berserker was in bliss. He roared his glutteral praises to the god of Battle as he prepared to charge the largest Ork in the mob.

This Ork was tougher than the others. Taking hold Garograths' Chainaxe, as he attempted to lunge at the beast, the Ork threw the weapon aside as if it was a plaything, and ripped the Berserkers' arm off with brute strength. Garogath screamed in agony and laughter. "We are all sacrifices for the Blood God!" he thought.

As the Ork prepared to finish the Berserker off, a gleaming portal opened up. The smell of brimstone, blood and flames tingled Garograth's sense's. Out of the portal leaped a mighty daemonic warrior. The daemon was imposing, covered in brazen armour, and a cloak of flaming skulls. The daemon levelled his blade at the Ork and screamed a challenge in a forbidden tongue that would drive a sane man to madness. The Ork grinned, as if he was unfazed by the daemonic creature that charged towards him, as if he had found a worthy challenger at last. The daemon was upon the Ork in a blink of an eye. Garogath was in utter awe as he saw the daemon dismantle the Ork in such a brutal fashion; blood spraying out from the multiple wounds impacted upon the xenos. The Ork, now headless, slumped to the ground as Skulltaker praised Khorne for his victory.

The daemon turned towards Garogath, who in turn  lowered his head towards the Champion of Khorne. His skull would be a prize for the Blood God, for weakness is not tolerated in the legions of Khorne.

Hey all,

Managed to finish some bits. I have another 6 berserkers to complete and a Maulerfiend, and then I'll actually be sorting out some Daemons for this force. I've managed to get in contact with some old friends, and now they seem to be playing 40k again (Tau and Loyalist scum), so I might be able to play games against armies other than Orks and Eldar.

After these, it'll be some Daemons and Cultists next, going to bulk up this army in style.

  • 1 month later...

I've been preparing the last of my models for ETL, so I can get everything painted. The first unit I will look into are my Cultists, who have been here since the beginning. Although they are not that many points, I should be able to knock them out fairly quickly!

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_18151_zpscfii3cgl.jpg

Hopefully, I'll be able to offer a little more than this, maybe a squad of bloodletters or bloodcrushers to appease the Chaos team!

@Pearson73: Cheers for the comment mate, as the army is having more units added to it, the colour scheme is coming together.

So I've been working on a couple of things, hopefully they'll be done soon.

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_18171_zpsmcuuiqrv.jpg

My first batch of ETL cultists. I've had a good bash at them tonight to get them to this stage (basecoats and a wash). So now all I have to do is layering and highlights. I'm not going to be a neat as I usually am (ish!), as I want to churn these guys out quickly as the rest of the army is taking forever to paint.

Speaking of forever to paint....

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_18161_zpsol78uku6.jpg

My Wrath Maulerfiend, WIP. This is taking some time, but it's worth it. It's a lovely model, and the Wrath colour scheme does work on it. However, the edging on the trim is taking an absolute age. It'll be worth it in the end, but I do not look forwards to the Heldrake.....

I want to be adding a little more to this blog, WIP's and battles etc, as I feel like I'm not doing enough with this!

  • 1 month later...

Cheers KrautScientist, your own Khorne army is always a pleasure to look at!

Here are a couple of updates that should have been done a while back. As mentioned in the ETL thread, I've been busy getting my new job organised, and getting my fitness back on track! But I've got the painting bug again, as a couple of old friends have got back in the hobby with Ultramarines and Tau, so I'm wanting to get an army painted!

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_19491_zpsjoqbo8tm.jpg

The painted models so far. Cultists are new (the ones shown in my last post, only took nearly 2 months and plenty of procrastination to do..!).

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_19501_zpsokdc0rgl.jpg

Work continues on the Maulerfiend. He needs a bit more work and some tidying up yet, but he is looking the part, so I'm really happy.

The plan now is once I have the Maulerfiend, the other 10 cultists and my last 6 Beserkers done, I'll move on to the Daemon Cohort and the Heldrake, so that I can really start doing a proper Daemonkin force!!!!

  • 4 months later...

Thanks for the comments guys!

First update in a while... Sorry for being busy all! New job and procrastination was killing my hobby mojo. I have however completed some daemon engines!

So with the new Traitor Legion book coming out, I'm having a little bit of an organisation of my Chaos force. Mainly that this force will be used as a KDK/ World Eaters force so I can use some other bits and bobs! Working on finishing my last 6 Khorne Beserkers, so there will be at least one more update this year!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all,

It's getting close to Christmas now! I finished work for the year (time off for Christmas woooo!) so now I get lots of time to spend with family and friends (yay!) the gym (boo!) and plastic men (yay!). So, lets get to it.

Here is a unit that you've seen half of, but I finished them last weekend. These models are olllddd as I bought them as a kid around 10 or so years ago. Want to get some more of these eventually to run a Maelstrom of Gore, or Fist of Khorne for my KDK. I am looking at units that can work for both World Eaters and KDK, as I want to be able to run both. I still love my Daemons, so I still will be playing a lot of KDK when I start playing properly again. I've been so busy....

So here is some fluff.

THE CRIMSON BUTCHERS

The group together

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_2590%20-%20Copy_zpsrkxuilqj.jpg

The new boys

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/IMG_2591%20-%20Copy_zps13pavwp5.jpg

Madness. Death. Destruction. For millennia, this brotherhood of deranged psychopaths have carved a red path throughout the galaxy. These Beserkers are immortal, though none of the original members remain. The origins of this band come from the World Eaters, where their name was a byword for terror and bloodshed on an unprecedented level during the dark days of the Horus Heresy. They have always remained together, moving from warband to warband to gain favour from their patron. Their current "allegiance" is with the Brotherhood of Slaughter, where their ethos and ethics match the Crimson Butchers well.

All who have joined the Crimson Butchers have died a glorious death, in the midst of their foes, or falling on their own chainswords to offer blood for their thirsting god. The name has remained, as there is no shortage of fallen Astartes that have given themselves to Khorne in the Long War. Even the newest inductees have satisfied their blades and their gullets on a diet of gore and flesh, and have fought in countless wars. Although all the current members will perish, the Crimson Butchers will never die as long as there is blood to be spilt for Khorne.

The next unit I'm going to paint are some bloodletters. Here is a sneak preview:

Cheers @Krautscientist , lovely to hear from someone who I've taken a lot of inspiration from on my Khorne army. I think your stuff is great!

So, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I was lucky, getting a Bloodthirster (new one), 2x 3 Bikers and some paintbrushes. I was really happy with this, as it does not add to the pile of shame too much, but it adds the model that got me to start this merry band of nutters in the first place.

I've been busy too. I went to Warhammer World yesterday, and I wanted to get another unit painted. So here are the completed bloodletters.

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/Bloodletters_zpsfw81sl3j.jpg

It took me some time to find a colour scheme I liked, but eventually I found one. that I liked. This also means that I have to strip my old half painted bloodletters which is a pain, but I will eventually have to start stripping some tanks and APCs for this army.

I went to WHW and played against my regular opponents Orks. Kaloth killed Ghazzy... which was incredible, and I wiped his army out. It wasn't the most competitive Ork army, nor were the tactics the best against my Daemonkin, but it was a laugh. I saw all of the beautiful Horus Heresy and Age of Sigmar stuff, which is making me excited to get into those game systems. I have BaC with all those MK4 marines, but I also want to get the BoP to have the core of my army done. But, my main project is to paint as much of these Khornate dudes as possible. I have just below 1200 points painted, so I'm getting there.

Next up, 10 shooty cultists. I'll try to get these done over the next couple of days. But if I'm not on here before hand, then I will wish you all a Happy New Year wherever you are!

  • 2 weeks later...

@brettfp: Cheers mate, the Wrath colour scheme is something I have always loved, and to say I have a huge army to paint, its kind of a good thing I suppose!

So, 2017. Happy New Year all! So, I have been a little busy. One of my new years resolutions is to cut down on spending on the hobby (not like I spent that much last year anyway...!) and to cut down the pile of shame . To begin with, here is the army at the moment, with the new cultist additions, and some better light on the Bloodletters I recently painted:

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/image1_zps3ivurann.jpg

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/image2_zpsehikwtlg.jpg

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/image1%201_zpsrslkjlyq.jpg

So, there is all the painted stuff at the moment. 51 models total. I want to get a fair few more models painted this year, but with 10 down already (the shooty cultists), I am not on a bad start. However, it is keeping up the momentum which has always been the issue. Which is why I have set myself a target of sorts. I cannot buy any models (upgrade kits for existing models I have (e.g meltaguns, new bases, FW Khorne World Eater upgrade set) don't count) until April 22nd, which is when I go to Salute 2017 down in London, UK. That gives me pretty much 4 months to paint as much as I can for this army, then I can buy some new stuff to reinvigorate myself to complete the rest of the force (this will consist of a lot of stripping paint off old, old CSM models I have from my old Iron Warriors collection. All for Khorne!).

I've already made a start on my next batch, 3 Bloodcrushers:

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x292/hellgunboy/image2%201_zpsapcdiezh.jpg

After these will be 10 Fleshhounds, then a Skull Cannon.  The way I am trying to paint stuff is a unit of 10, then a elite unit/vehicle. In this way, I can keep myself motivated instead of painting a big unit and never finishing it. So hopefully, I will finish this KDK/CSM project this year.

Any C&C is appriciated!
