Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

- The dramaturge Dylan Thomys, circa. M2.

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal,

And, lo, there was a great earthquake,

And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair,

And the moon became as blood.

- The Apocrypha Terra, M2.

In the last days, the Nine shall fall upon the Throne,

And the God who Denies shall mourn his Angel,

And they shall curse the High Traitor's name,

And the Expanse shall mourn their deaths.

- The Predictions of Shadrac of Ursh, circa. M29.

+The First Canto+

+Prologue+

State your name for the record, Blood Angel.

...

Your name, Blood Angel.

...

State your name for the testimony, Legionary!

My name? You want my name? My name is no longer relevant. It died the day my brothers did, at the Palace, in the tunnels. It died with the rest of the 65th Company of the IX Legion. I have no name. Not anymore. Nor have I life. I gave that in service to my Emperor. I should be dead.

Legionary, you stand before this court in contempt! You will answer my questions, or suffer-

Enough. I apoligize for my brother's outburst. He has ever been choleric of temper. Yet, still, you must fulfill this obligation. This tribunal must know what happened in the Asqarce Tunnel Complex during the Siege. We must have a name, you understand. The records must show who testified before this panel. Bureaucracy, you understand.

I understand. In life I was Zhel Varost, Moritat to the 65th Company, IX Legion, Serial IX-65102813. But no longer. In death I will be known by another name.

In that case, what shall we call you, Moritat?

I request that I be known by a title that reflects my calling here, and that reflects the nature of my dead brothers. A memento mori, if you will.

And what is that name, Moritat?

I desire to be known as Requiem.

Requiem?

Requiem.

@Bernard & Demus: Thanks!!!

@Dolchiate Remembrancer: Thanks, though I'm afraid none other than Zhel survived. There is a reason that he and the thread are called Requiem.

@deathspectersgt7: I hope to satisfy your desires soon... :cuss that sounds dirty.

@LongGone: Oh, the Blood Angels are just a temporary (read: impulse) distraction, since I can do a pretty convincing 30k army with mostly 40k plastics when it comes to BA. When we get the Heresy plastics I'll start doing some of the guys I originally intended to do.

Glad so many people enjoyed my little first post. The colour text isn't quite up to their standards I intend to keep but that particular failing will be corrected in later posts.
