greycat
The only other issue I can see is that you really want to be static with a stormlord in order to fire twice with that 15 shot mega bolter. I never realised you could assault from it. Might be time to get mine painted up and back in the game. morroccomole
Four Wyverns? Good golly, that's a bit overkill. I'd drop two and try to squeeze in a manitcore or basilisk for some higher S/AP heavy support. jgfield79
Not a big fan of either... I don't like that the fragile Basilisk will be in "direct fire mode" range for most of the fight, plus it's just got the one blast.. not re-rolling anything. I'd rather just have a standard Russ w/ Battle Cannon at that rate... and the Manticore is still AP4 and unpredictable... i think the 2x Wyverns is far more reliable than either of those platforms, all things considered. I have a Colossus/Imperial Bombard kit that I haven't used in a while.. the min ranges really suck with all these fast/drop pod armies out there Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313948-completely-absurd-am-deathstar/page/2/#findComment-4178528 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
I'm a fan of the Bassie and Manticore. Worth looking at the Forge World rules for Manticore Missiles instead of the Storm Eagle Rockets in the Codex. S9 AP2 7" Blast with Ordnance. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/313948-completely-absurd-am-deathstar/page/2/#findComment-4179044 Share on other sites
morroccomole
I suppose if you know your opponents aren't bringing too much armor, then Wyverns are a great choice. I try to always bring some type of long range heavy support that can at least threaten the higher classes of armor, if only to make the opponent think hard about what he prioritizes. Shamansky
...the min ranges really suck with all these fast/drop pod armies out there Drop pods ruin your day? Deep striking units are a trouble? Too much melta too close too fast? Use the Imperial Guard deployment Method! Now with Astra Militarum flavour. Ask for it at your LGS.
