FW Cadian upgrades.

Hi,

I was just wondering if someone has used the Cadian hostile environment upgrade and the Cadian respirator upgrade from Forge World and what their opinions are.

I would like to get one of the two for my guardsmen because I like the closed helmet but I'm not really sure which is best. The price diference is 1 pound, so which gives more bang for the bug?

I'm actually converting all of my guardsmen into Hostile Environment units due to my regiments fluff and I would say it's a grab bag.  Some things don't tend to make sense, like the Vox operator really doesn't look like one, and I think that FW got carried away with the backpacks on the conversion pieces but since they are part of the body you're kind of stuck with them.

Here's some pictures of the guys I'm working on, literally just finished some of the guys in the picture this afternoon, and a 360 degree of the first 5 that I did so you can get a better feel for the models.  Let me know if you have any questions!

They look great Audemus. Is there a vox-operater in the kit? I had not seen that in the forgeworld pictures.

What I'm worried about is wether they will all look the same with the hostile environment kit, since the heads and torsos are all stuck together. My main problem with the respirator upgrade is the sergeants head, the one with the hat and rebreather. I would rather have an entire squad with helmets.

So, thanks for the replies, I think I will be going for the hostile environment kit. The holstered lasgun and other such cool upgrades from the respirator kit I guess can find on ebay.

Not to jack the thread but would they work with scion parts to make more kasrkin looking models?

Well, you can combine scion legs with regular guard torsos so that would not be a problem. But you wouldn't be able to give them the scions hotshot las-guns due to the respirator backpack, unless you convert them a bit and remove the cables and such.

I used the scion legs and heads with forge world shotgun vet torsos... Needed some serious neck trimming and some greenstuff on the waist joints but otherwise fit was ok. I dunno bout the hostile environment kits though smile.png

The Vox operator is actually in my first pic on the far right, he's kinda looking down at the ground.  His backpack, while different, does not look anything like a normal Vox Operator but he has a mouthpiece that is in front of his face which I guess represents his ability to communicate on the radio.  It's bizarre but Forge World can get that way sometimes.

That's a recipe for poverty my friend, I don't wanna think about the price of running that! tongue.png

Well, Im planning a very small army (500 points). So far I only need 1 veteran squad tongue.png But yes, the price is huuuuge. They just look so much better than cadians. My only other idea would be DKoK

Elysians actually look great with cadian respirators and yes their torsos are separate.

I would love to do it, but first I need the income of a small country.

I had seen those images before, sadly those are not cadian torsos, they are elysian torsos with greenstuff. But good to know they are separate.

Okay, so one guard squad with the idea I had in mind is about 100€ for 10 men so...

I will have to go back to my original idea of cadians with upgrades. Atleast thats only 40-something-€. Or DKoK.
