Roger5000
It says in the 7th Edition codex that a sergeant in an infantry squad may take weapons from the ranged weapon list. Does this mean if I swap out a laspistol for a boltgun, he will lose his close combat weapon? Thanks in advance, im still kinda new to some of this. Frater Cornelius
No. The sergeant has a close combat weapon and a pistol. If he swaps the Pistol for a Bolter, you still have the CCW. You only swap exactly what it says. By the way, there is an Official Rules forum at the bottom of the main page. Just for future reference ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314593-beginner-question-on-40k-rules/#findComment-4190403 Share on other sites
Quixus
That is true, however having only one CCW is exactly the same as having no CCW. You only get the number of attack listed in the profile. Yep because we all know using a chainsaw is about the same as just punching some one or poking them with the but of a gun. I always found this funny Though I suppose the assumption is that you use your gun in the melee... Just... It looses its strength and AP??? Haha ^.^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314593-beginner-question-on-40k-rules/#findComment-4190725 Share on other sites
Quixus
Yeah it's weird, but that's what the rules say. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314593-beginner-question-on-40k-rules/#findComment-4190806 Share on other sites
CommodusXIII
I've always understood it to be more like bludgeoning or pistol-whipping, compared to close-range shooting. mmimzie
Yeah but only close range shooting makes since if it's supposed to be as strong as slicing some one with a chain saw. Frater Cornelius
Well, the rules also say that blood-crazed berserkers can not assault a helpless unit after kicking down the door of their transport and instead have to angrily shake their fist at them for one whole turn. However, once their transport becomes several magnitudes heavier and slower, then can assault after disembarking. GENIUS!!! So much for using rules as a justification. Forge that narrative ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314593-beginner-question-on-40k-rules/#findComment-4190963 Share on other sites
