Luna707
Hey everybody, I have a question about the Morlocks who survived a istvaan V. I have come to understand from warhammer wikis that there are a few Morlocks that survived the massacre and some even are named in Angel Exterminatus. What do we know about these veterans? I want to create one but I also don't want to make any fluff errors, so I thought I would throw this question out to you guys. I know Fratar Thamatica, Septus Thoic, ignatius Numan, and Vermanus Cybus all survived but what were these guys like? Are there any more survivors from the Morlocks? Which one is worthy of being created in table top form? Thanks Iron Hands fanatics! Calas Typhon
The Morlocks and more importantly the Clan Avernii in which they came from were more or less completely destroyed. The Surviving members of the Avernii that were moved out of the Isstvan System through the help of the Salamanders were extremely low and there were little survivors. The Iron hands force that pushed into the Emperors Children forces were killed to a man after the death of Manus it has been reported in many books and accounts of the battle, how much of that still stands I am not too sure. On some accounts, members of the Morlocks/Clan Avernii were moved to different clans iirc. Once such account being a member who joined Shadrak Meduson in the Meduson series. I will have a look for the fellows name when I get home. Some of the severely Injured in the fighting prior to the second wave are sure to have been secured and transported off world, which I am basing my Iron Hands Clan Avernii on. Edit: the Avernii member who joined Shadrak Meduson was named Augos Lumak who was a Captain of the Clan. Whether he was a Morlock or not I am not too sure. Luna707
Ok cool thanks for the information! I have no idea if Augos Lumak was a Morlock but apparently he was favored by Ferrus so he was probably equal to one. The more I learn about the Iron Hands, the more excited I am to make a Istvaan V survivor force. I am going to start with a Morlock (as my praetor) who happened to get off the planet in one piece, but I am not sure if he will be a named character or what. Does anyone have any suggestions? LongGone
Dude, if you're already making the fluff for your IC to get off Istvaan, why wouldn't you give him a name. You can justify just about anything for your head fluff. Because here's the thing, head fluff doesn't impact the table top. Like, at all. As long as your fluff passes the 'reasonable person' standard, no one should give you any grief. And if they do, well then, :cuss on them. Luna707
Hahahaha I'm not worried about getting grief or anything regarding the tabletop, I just want to make an awesome model based on a cool character. I always make up characters and play them with established rules for other characters. This time however I wanted to base my count as character around someone who actually existed in the HH saga but will never get actual rules. I just haven't read all of the books so I wanted to ask around in order to find a cool Morlock who survived the massacre. Calas Typhon
The good thing about the Iron Hands is due to the events of Isstvan and the death of Ferrus, there is so much you can do with the background of a survivor! I would definitely make up a Morlock rather than using one already existing. Partially because those existing can be killed off, limiting your fluff. Where as starting a new character/background, There are no limitations! That was the one thing putting me off making a force with Gabriel Santar at the head, he was killed, leaving the rest of the heresy out of the question when it came to the fluff I would build. Luna707
Good point! I was thinking about doing that anyway but now I'm pretty sure that will be more enjoyable because he won't randomly die on me haha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315157-morlock-survivors-of-istvaan-v-question/#findComment-4203801 Share on other sites
