The Fureans/Malinax combo will look terrifying. Alternatively you could just use the Malinax scheme for House Rajha, which seem to be the house subbed to Fureans. They're described as "ghost-grey" in Extermination, close enough?

@Slips

He did a fair share msn-wink.gif I payed him in beer and pizza, the most venerable and ancient forms of barter.

@LYD

Hmm I'll look into that...I've honestly never heard that before so I'll check it out.

p.28 of Extermination to save you some time. It also mentions a House Perdaxia and gives the colors for that. I guess they're all from Incaladion along with Fureans? It doesn't really say anywhere. Or like House Atrax with Cyclotrathe, bound to Incaladion but from nearby systems. Either way, the animalistic Malinax scorpions would fit the bill pretty nicely if they release a decal sheet for the House (and it seems like they're going to release sheets for pretty much everything?).

Also before I forget, MY MAN! Deschutes helped me through a pretty decent amount of essays in college :P They've been pretty reliably good, it's nice to see them getting state-wide distribution.

Thanks a bunch man! And uh to be tactful I guess, I work at a Dunkin Donuts...so I have no lack of Indio-centric names for the crew ;)

I really like all these dang traitors...guess that's why I play Dark Angels. I like the whole fallen from grace thing, but I always hated the "spiky" aesthetic that Chaos had so yeah.

As for beer, I'm more of an IPA and wheat kinda guy :D I've found one called Languinitas Little Sumpin' that's fantastic and gives a good kick to the liver. I'd recommend it if you were in the neighborhood.

IPA/wheat huh? Have you tried Chainbreaker or Fresh Squeezed from Deschutes? Great mid-afternoon beers. Also, fun fact: I used to live about 10 minutes away from the Lagunitas Petaluma brewery. I see they've opened one up in Chicago now too... Thaaat makes sense :D

And seriously, the Traitors have the best Titan Legio schemes. Can be tricky to pull off though. If you stick with Fureans I'm really looking forward to how you guys do the yellow with the flame effects. It's actually pretty cool to look between the fire patterns between Fureans and Infernus; the Fureans patterns are like creeping shadows of fire, unnatural and coming on from odd directions, whereas the Infernus flames always start at the base of whatever carapace and work their way up like a blaze gone out of control. Stuff to think about when you get there :P

On a slight note, I'm planning to use the Secret Weapons Miniatures "Blasted Wasteland" bases for my knights and possibly my future 1st Legion models. The water effects combined with that swamp feel looks awesome! If I decide not to do House Malinax (which at this time I change my mind all the time it seems) I'd opt for a Kraken symbol for the armor with a possible quartered bone and teal color. They'd look pretty good a swamp theme - refer to the "Watcher" in the first Lord of the Rings Movie.

I'll keep my ear to the ground ;) Chicago has had a huge influx of Craft beer lately, and I sample them like a fat kid in a candy shop :D

Ave Omnissiah!

The plates are being held by blue tac until a time where I can paint them separately from the chassis. The same goes for the "vanes" on the black hole gun as I want to do some OSL...or is it OSD (Object source darkness)? Lol :P

Ok so I started up my Acheron knight, but I'm unable to post pics till Sunday as I'm out of town - it's a bit more dynamic in pose than my Atrapos but not by much. I'm not a huge fan of the crazy ballerina poses :D

I also ordered these paints to experiment with for a Malinax color scheme:

•Zandri Dust

•Terminatus Stone

•Typhus Ash

•Leadbelcher air color

•chaos black spray

My plan is to 1.) Prime black 2.) cover all but the plates in leadbelcher 3.) Airbrush a first coat of Zandri dust 4.) Nuln Oil Wash 5.) Highlight with Typhus ash and then Terminatus Stone

I don't know how I'm going to do the rust parts around the bolts like the FW example, but I'm open to suggestions!

I also ordered some Blasted Wetland bases from Secret Weapons Miniatures along with their magnificent wetlands basing kit. I'm really excited to try out the water effects! Eeeee

Here's the Acheron (name TBD):

And here's the family plowing through the wreckage of a Reaver and my work desk:

Paint should be here, and work can begin.

Thanks for all the kudos guys!

For some reason I'm not overly pleased with the leg posing of the Atrapos, but seeing as it was my first knight assembly, I was bound to do something more conservative. It's a little too late to go back and fix it (I believe I slapped some JB Weld in there) so I will need to make his base really cool to compensate :D

  • 3 weeks later...

Lol I had a connection so I was able to secure a 2015 one ;) Athrawes likes it too. But holy cow...14.3% alc!!!!

Here's painting progress on Malinax:
