Thanks dude! I've definitely honed my skills somewhat! Sadly my crap photos don't do it justice, I've got some nice transitions going on!

 

I think that is a very dramatic pose. Cool.

I've been a fan of this guy for a while - the quality of the original failcast arm left a bit to be desired....

 

Well I've cracked out the light box, not entirely happy with the results but it looks like a matt varnish photos better. I'll have to try a few more settings/adjustments. It really isn't coming out bright enough! Nothing a few filters don't fix....

 

Anyway, here is a pretty average tactical marine - love the simplicity of these after the veterans! Of my vow, all my 5 mkiv are done, just need to base them - which is a mission in itself....

I love MKii armour, especially with the phonecian pattern helmet! Thankfully I've got enough for a squad of 10! Although this vow sees 5 of these and 5 of the vets!

Satin varnish isn't showing up so well, but I've got 3 of these guys done and the rest just needing the white armour added! I think it'll look a striking unit!!

Well whilst being quiet I've been working away on the ETL vow - my tactical squad is done, and the assault squad and veterans just need the Sgts!

 

Here is a sneak peak, just the final details and different coloured pads to go!!

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the kind words and the comments! Gives me motivation to continue with the updates!

 

I've just uploaded this to my Instagram - I'd hoped to have him done by know, but am adding glazes and washes here and there! Always find more details to do!! He's pretty much done though now, which will almost see my 2yrs in the making vets finished -- just as they lose marksman skill, like furious charge before it!!

Yikes? Veteran skills changed again?

 

Regardless, the vet looks superb and ready to rock! The pose with that face has a confident 'try me' stare down that makes enemies think twice.

Well, not all the EC were pretty boys, some were actual bad ass warriors! I am happy you like him, I really like trying to use older minis - must get some proper old school minis worked into the army somehow!!

 

Just continuing tidying up the ETL vow. I decided to re-do the pink on the previous jet bikes as It wasn't vibrant enough and the thicker stripe wiped out my nice transitions on nose cone. I need to add some more washes to the gold and just tidy up some of the pink that's leaked onto the White, but otherwise I'm pretty happy!!

It'll be good to get these bad boys finished!

 

I'm hoping I'll manage to squeeze at least one of these bad boys in the ETL.

 

I'm just wondering if any of you guys run the regular speeder. I'm wondering how best to equip them. The standard kit comes with multi meltas and flamers, but I'm thinking of grav guns. Any ideas?!

The speeders are also pretty darn sweet. Though I have no idea how to kit one out. It's also nice to see classic kits get some TLC.

I've seen grav speeders quite a bit, they are quite workable and not too expensive. 3-5 does tend to be the favoured number.

I think I'll go for a choom Speeder with some grav - I'm pretty sure I can convert the underslung weapon easily enough. It's just the Pintle mount that will cause dramas....

Thanks - I've had this in mind for a while, I'll planning on building a 'Phoenix Wing' fast attack force, consisting of lots of skimmers....

Paint job is looking great as always! Looking forward to more progress on the speeders!

 

As for your fast attack force, what other skimmers are you thinking of adding?

I've got my Scimitars pretty much done, I'll convert up a squad of Dawneagles and maybe a javelin. I've got a Darkshroud that I'm pondering ECing up - not sure if it'll fit the aesthetic though! Then I'll have to finish my storm eagle and thunderhawk!!

I'm planning to take the whole jet bike unit down to the local GW and get some better pics this week. I'm hoping I can find my 'missing' plasma gun from the last member of my Veteran squad so I can get them nicely photo'd too!

Gosh man every time I check your thread you make me miss my 3rd legion! You've really managed to capture like noone the original art of visions of heresy in Istvann!

Thanks matey! Appreciate the kind words! Replicating the old card art has been my aim all along! I'm finally getting the point when my foot slogging infantry are done! I've almost got my 50man Demi company done! Eventually I'll have 2 x 20man tactical squads, but I'll settle for 30 tacs, 10 Support and 10 Veterans.

 

I finished 5 vets for the ETL and am just putting the finishing touches to plasma gunner, so now it's time to start showing off some completions.

I originally built the first veterans when they had the furious charge skill. Now they can be weapon masters. This one is just a standard imperial power sword!

That's so cool. Capturing blades of worthy foes is an amazing piece of fluff I have never seen executed until now!

Cheers! I know! I've long trawled bits sites for suitable weapons to represent this! Normally I've gone for smart looking blinged up imperial blades, but I thought a few Xenos blades would look cool. Kizzdougs kindly gave me a few Wood Elf blades that I've used elsewhere to good effect too! I just need to figure out what snazzy blade to give Oleander Koh.....

 

Any way, here is the latest image dump of my Veterans! Really happy with these guys, I'll just have to add strapped bolters and holstered pistols to a few of them in due course - but otherwise they are done!

Dang they're impressive man! What a great board too!!! Never felt worse for abandoning my third legion...

High praise indeed mate. Your EC army was always an inspiration, perhaps revisit then when the primaris range develops!

 

The board was recycled from the last AoP, wanted to put more ruins on it! But as always left it until the last minute. I am determined to build the gate house to the fortress monastery - just need another Shrine of the Aquila !

 

Your army looks fantastic all together like that. How did you get on with Armies on Parade?

Thanks! Great praise from the guy with the best 40k EC army on the boards! I'm honestly not sure - I was on nights the weekend of the competition, so dropped it off then went to bed! It featured on the Melbourne FB page, so I'm hoping it placed! I collected it today, but the casual employee had no idea if I'd won anything.

 

Very impressive. Those EC veterans with the blades of their conquered foes gives me an idea for some 40k dudes, will shamelessly steal the idea. :P

Feel free too! And make sure you post them here, so I can steal the idea back....
