Iron Warriors – transition from 1000 to 2000 points help

Hi guys/gals,

I’m getting to the stage where I am thinking about the way I can transition my 1000 Iron Warrior army to the 2000 point mark. Below is my ‘rough’ 1000 point list to get an idea of the units I already have, and below that is the draft of what I thought I might add to get to 2000.

Centurion – 90 pts

Artificer Armour, Boarding Shield, Power Weapon, Melta Bombs

10 Legion Tactical Squad – 150 pts

10 Legion Tactical Squad – 150 pts

Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnought – 180 pts

Two Keres Assault Cannons

3 Castellax Battle-Automata – 255 pts

Mauler Bolt Cannons

Legion Sicaran Battle Tank – 175 pts

Lascannons

1000 pts

So, for the upgrade, including all the models I currently have I was thinking along the lines of…

Centurion – 137 pts

Consul: Siege Breaker

Cataphractii Terminator Armour, Power Axe, Combi-Weapon

Centurion – 417 pts

Consul: Praevian

Bolter, Boarding Shield

3 Castellax Battle-Automata

1 Darkfire Cannon, Enhanced Targeting Array

10 Legion Tactical Squad – 150 pts

10 Legion Tactical Squad – 150 pts

Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnought – 180 pts

Two Keres Assault Cannons

2 Legion Rapier Weapons Battery – 110 pts

2 Laser Destroyer Arrays

5 Tyrant Siege Terminators – 300 pts

1 Chain Fist

Legion Sicaran Battle Tank – 175 pts

Lascannons

Typhon Heavy Siege Tank – 370 pts

Armoured Ceramite

1989 pts

I felt that all of the bases are pretty well covered here with some anti-air, anti-spartan and anti-anything weapons. The main concern is the lack of models, but everything is quite elite.

Thoughts/comments are very welcome

I missed this thread sorry! :)

Yeah, Castellax went up 20 points base. So you're 49 points over now... I'd drop that Darkfire cannon, instead of running the mixed anti-tank/anti-infantry unit you have. That'll get you close, but I'm not sure you have much to drop to make it down to 2000. Might have to cut something in order to make everything else optimal.

No bother dude smile.png

That really sucks about the Castellax, although probably wise. The logic behind the darkfire cannon was to get around the artificer armour sergeant that most of the guys I know run. There's nothing more annoying than someone tanking loads of AP3 shots on their sergeant until they eventually fail that 2+ lol. At a push it would be used against terminators or a vehicle before charging...might not be a great idea though.

I think dropping a Rapier and the Chain Fist on the Tyrants might be my easiest way to save the points to maintain the unit of 3.
