The following transmission originates from a rebel human colony - intercepted by Solar Auxillia scouts of the 777th Rad Dogs attached to the 456th Expedition Fleet, working under the IVXth Legion

894.M30 - Resistance Outpost to Resistance Headquarters

The line opens with some brief static and the high pitched sound of a vox frequency adjusting. It is eventually broken and tuned into a male voice - deep and gruff, but a sense of culture, like he is learned in both scholarly and soldiery pursuits. The pic-feed adjusts and shows his face - he seems to be about 40, rugged and wreathed by war and his uniform denotes mid-level seniority, a line or platoon officer perhaps. He speaks:

"The mists are coming in... The men don't feel safe. Unease grips at thier throats like a would be assassin, threatening to end what miserable lives they have defending this hell hole. We were told to shore up this place and for what? Not even a whisper of an enemy. Day after day and night after night we wait but they never come. Johnson thought he saw something at dusk the other night, a grey shadow with obsidian eyes peering at us in the distance.

We all laughed at the poor bastard. Although now, with no sign of the enemy there are... Whispers....

"What if they're seizing us up?" "What if they're waiting for our supplies to run out?" "What if they aren't man, but ghost intent on eating our souls!"

Yes... That last one was Johnson. Wild imagination running again. I keep them in line. Run drills and patrols to keep them on thier feet. When the enemy come, if they do come....

We'll. Be. Read-

The distinctive sound of bolter fire suddenly intensifies, as the door to the room is kicked open and the mist floods in through the open hatch. The man turns around in an instant and fear washes over him.

"Oh lord... Johnson was rig-"

A single bolt round pierces the mist and his head in turn, his bloodied body slumping to the floor. The last image of captured before the feed ends is as follows:

Well - Hopefully you enjoyed that little bit of fluff and photoshop  I've made it pretty obvious in the AoD forums I'm going to be starting DG so I thought I'd make a thread to pretty much cover all aspects of that: Fluff, Lists, Modelling & Painting etc. This will be a suuuuuuuper long term project so updates will come and go when I can (and when I'm not doing my BA for 40k!). I have a bit of a fluff idea for these guys but I'm going to be building mainly on rule of cool.

Oh and chemical warfare. Lots of that. The only good Xenos is a Xenos with a chemical fire where his eyes used to be.

But no one cares about that really do they? You want models! The resin hasn't even been washed properly on these, but this (bar a couple of MK3 suits) is all I have so far for the Reaper's Legion.

Section Leader Crysos Mortug:

Complete with Combi-flamer and crazy 2nd edition Chaos power sword.

Grave Warden:

OH EMPEROR. First time I put one of these together today. B-e-a-utiful. Probably the reason I'm going DG.

Deathshroud:

Again, really awesome model. Going to be putting top-knots on these guys so they look like the art from the old heresy books as well as some leather straps when I can make them.

Rhinos:

Old girls are these, will be repurposing them soon for my tacticals.

A Relic of the Past:

Because I have a lot of terminators... I need Land Raiders... Right? I'll be covering that wretched blue off soon :tongue.:

Big Morty Himself:

No introduction necessary - but he needs some work done as he came cheap but a little battered. But that's just standard fare for the reaper of Barbarus.

How dandy - this post starts off the second page putting a clear line in the previous nonsense :tongue.: I'll probably try and mock-up some potential colourschemes tomorrow. What would people's reaction be... To god forbid... Silver?!

Hairspray works pretty well too, or using salt..

Thread derailment imminent... I love the DG terminators... I also like that you are doing the top-knot too so it is akin to the collected visions artwork.

Derailment averted, phew!!

Silver Death Guard kinda makes sense. That's the color of bare ceramite, below the standard paint that chips at the first bullet fired by a rebel, or melts at the first las-shot.

Exactly! I'm thinking a really dull silver, almost grey with maybe some white in the right places.

I'm also planning a little... Dusk Raider Flair ;)

Thanks for the comments guys :)

@Charlo - Great!!!

Out of likes today!

A dull, light silver could look pretty sweet! would definately stand out from the pure white battle damaged and the grime encrusted or dirty ivory coloured forces!

Was thinking about the same for some of my veteran squads (helmets/left shoulder) and breacher squads,

When I can I'll try and get some 40k marines painted in some test schemes. I'm probably going to use leadbelcher spray and just murder it with washes...

If it can't go wrong with IW, I don't see how it could with DG.

First Draft Colourscheme:

http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah177/nevscorner/Colourscheme_zpshqsd30i6.jpg

Red hand a leftover from the marines time as a dusk raider - a practice still carried out by some of the veteran legionnaires.

The right shoulder Oo I knew that it was alternate Heresy White Scars :D

I do like the rather grim feeling. What they need is tattered robes and scythes to complete the image ;)

He's a DG from the 1st heresy book :P

And maybe, I don't think robes are much of a DG thing. They serve no purpose.

Second possible scheme idea - mainly taking the green away from the pauldrons and onto the trim... Also potentially darker metal pauldrons :smile.:

Hell due to the nature of legions I'll probably mix the two schemes across squads?

Oh and a Deathshroud too  with Top Knot!

And here is another with a few helmet colour changes...

Always liked the topknots on the Cataphractii sets in the artwork, always thought it added to the overall "elite" effect it gave.

I am not too sure how it looks on the helm rather than the top of the torso will look forward to how it is painted up!
