Oh throne ! that is a sweeet colour scheme. I prefer it to the first one, though I still like the red hand.

And I'm generally not a fan of topknots, but it seems fitting here :)

Always liked the topknots on the Cataphractii sets in the artwork, always thought it added to the overall "elite" effect it gave.

I am not too sure how it looks on the helm rather than the top of the torso will look forward to how it is painted up!

Thanks! Me too :) Could well explore having them from the body, might work a bit better...

Yeah - I'll deffo have the red hands to signify any Terrans or the like in my Forces.

They're going to be pretty much Loyalist where it matters but I still want to use Mortarion in random games :)

Found a Thunder hammer (one of the Iron Hands ones) I was going to use for a count as iron priest in my BA Chariots (thunder Wolf count as) but seeing as they are a lot of conversion work that I'm going to put on hold... I'll use it to mock up a Rask once I have BoC ;) Edited by Charlo

Everything's looking great! Adding my vote to the "top knots on top of back armour, not helmet"-side. Much more in keeping with the artwork as well. Looking forward to some paint now!

Cheers,

BTB

Hopefully I'll have some time to do a MK3 sergeant after I finish my Deredeo RTS vow this weekend! As far as I can tell I own all the colours I'll need for this...

Bit of a random update, but even though I'm not even sure if I'm running a Heavy Flamer support squad in the future, getting nine of these for 20% off was too good. Thanks Black Friday weekend! They should make for some sweet sweet shredding chemical death once the army gets rolling :)

Triple post of doom... But good reason!

TEST MINI!

MkVI Body and legs from 40k

Old chaos plastic arms from 40k (potentially a 2nd/3rd edition mix)

MkVII Pack (booo wish I had a better one)

MkVII Breather head - seemed appropriate

MkVII & Mk? Loyalist/ Chaos pads.

He is pretty much painted with Leadbelcher drybrush and layers of ink including, Agrax, Nuln & the old school Black/ Dark Green/ Brown inks, which are so so cool and will hopefully last the duration of this army!

Hmmm only critique is that its not immediately recognizable as a DG marine.

Otherwise he looks good

Aye - true!

To solve that I'm hoping to use the legion specific MkII/III resin pads with the MkIV plastics of Calth. That should hopefully make the green a little more noticeable and cement thier image a bit more. I think the specialist units will work more.

I'm probably going to do a test mini with grey as the base too to see how it goes :D

The green is great. However, the rest of the armour looks a little to Iron Warrior ish, it feels like this is a 40k successor chapter when I look at it.

Nice work, but he seems more like an iron warrior or iron hand to me! I think a single cream\bone pad would really sweet him off!

I guess you can all tell I am a little torn between IW and DG... Huh? ;)

I think I'll have to try a grey base perhaps. I really wanted a metallic base but I think it might just have to be a very light leadbelcher dry brush onto an already dritied up grey, to then dirty again?

The green has come out how I wanted it for sure but perhaps the metal is too dark. I think the mini itself doesn't lend to 30k much and a proper mini will probably make it more DG.

The reason I was going for blackened silver is because these guys are proper extreme condition fighters. They go into all the nasty places and thier armour just gets completely trashed but they still wear it as it gets the job done, in true DG fashion.

Perhaps this sort of thing then....

Wanted to avoid a single cream pad but I suppose it could be the legion symbol one and they always maintain those as a sign of respect?

It would be the easiest method to make them, if not immediately, easily recognizable as Death Guard, imo. Since the Color Schemes for the Legions are strongly tied to their Identities.

That and no other legion is bone/cream color in the same way that no other legion is Yellow.

Very sound point!

Happy to report I think It only went and worked....

The green does look nice, and that cream shoulder pad looks much better :smile.:

Thanks :) I think it sets him out as a DG for sure -

Slip, thanks for the idea!

I found my red ink sooo... Hand!

If your group has been exposed to massive radiation time and time again, their armour will turn black, rust will start to run down towards the ground, and other metals will oxidize out of the ceramic plate.

Effectively making them equal parts Death guard, Iron Hands, and Iron Warriors. The perfect mix for your eradication campaigns and dangerous stuff that would make even other legions either dead, or mad.
